How To Distinguish Internal And External Links
Dec 8, 2011I should write a script which should distinguish internal and external links with JS. The links can be absolute or relative. I thought the best guess would be to first check if it is a relative link by checking the first character of the string is a /. (but how do you do this?) Then it will be always an internal link.
Then I thought to check if the URL (this.href) starts with the current protocol + location.host . If YES, it is an internal URL, else it is an external URL.
So does anybody know how to check if a URL starts with '/' or '[URL]

Jun 30, 2009A better question. Hopefully I won't figure out the answer before I finish asking this one. Is it possible to have a select box, and when the item is selected have it open in a thickbox? This is easy to do with traditional anchor tags and its also easy to open links when they're selected from a select box. Its the combination that has me stumped.

Jul 12, 2010I tried finding a similar situation in the forums, but was unable to discover anything sepcific. I think I may be way off here, and or trying to do something bizarre, but what I am trying to do is change only part of the the url for all of the links on a page. So say I want to change:
href="/something/something/all"
to
href="/something/something/specific"
I think I need to use each() in combination with attr but I am not exactly sure how. This is what I have so far (with no luck):
$('a').each( {
$(this).attr('href').replace('all','specific');
});
I've successfully changed part of a single link based of it's enclosing div id, but if there is more than one link in the div, it replaces the entire href of all the other links in that div to be the same as the first one. So that's why I think I need to use each(). But again, I'm not sure how to do this properly in this case.

In old school HTML I believe you would use a frame but I know there is a better way to do it using jQuery. Jul 23, 2010I have an unordered list (ul#garment_selector) sitting in a div (div#program_scroller) and each of the list items has a link that I'd like to display an image and some text into a div on the same page. I don't want any fancy animations or anything like that, I just need to display an image and a related description/price into a new div, preferably without reloading. I have quite a few different lists of links and they change all the time so using an array to define the image/text is impractical for my needs.

Like in the first examples i have 5 panels, and i have a meta navigation, contact, links ect. all thedifferent content for the meta-navigation is displayed via jquery in panel 5, and is working fine.
Now my question; when the user is for example on the second panel, and the clicks on links, the page should show panel 5 (which is the index page(default.asp)), and then show only the content for the links.
I tried different stuff for loading the defautl.asp page, but it doesn't work. how do i tell, that if i click on the link wirh class="kontakt" the page should load the default.asp, and THEN do all the jquery stuff?

Basically, when you click a link a function is called with a parameter based on the particular link you run. Then the code runs through an xml file, and if the parent of the nodes I've cyling through has a value equal to the parameter past to the function, that node is used to create a new link with window.open function attached to it.It all works, or seems to, and when I alert what is being built, it looks right to me, yet the links don't work.I've attached a copy of one of the alerts of one of the links as it's built.

Nov 24, 2011I've previously written an image carousel with lightbox and to be honest forgot about it for quite a long time. I've just been tasked with making a few modifications (I wrote this code about 6 months ago)
Now, the problem I have is that I now need to call the internal method from the ligthbox plugin.
I've tried setting a reference to this like this but it just won't play ball. I can see that the ajax feed gets called but unfortunately I can't then access it.
