JQuery :: List Of Links To Load Image/text Into Div On Same Page
Jul 23, 2010
I have an unordered list (ul#garment_selector) sitting in a div (div#program_scroller) and each of the list items has a link that I'd like to display an image and some text into a div on the same page. I don't want any fancy animations or anything like that, I just need to display an image and a related description/price into a new div, preferably without reloading. I have quite a few different lists of links and they change all the time so using an array to define the image/text is impractical for my needs.

i know my summary is not the clearest so here goes....
the page www.philip
-----
dusel
.com
has several links to click ...all different images. they all link to the same page which is an image gallery. i would like for the new page to open with the related image enlarged in the gallery instead of always showing the first image in the list regardless of which link was clicked. i hope i am being clear.
ps what is the standard way of providing a link yet hiding it from the crawling robots?

I have an image wrapped inside a link tag.<a href="somepage.html"><img id="content" src="img/some.gif" /></a>
I want this .click target to be the link: $('a').click(function(e){
Instead, the target returned is the image [HTMLImageElement].
I have tried using closest()and currentTarget:
But they all still return the image, not the link.

Im looking to have a list of text/links, where once clicked are entered into a text box on the same page... and when a second is clicked - it is appended onto the text that is already in the text box - and so on...

I have created a photography website myself and coded it all in dreamweaver cs4. Now i have created it using html, as i didnt want to limit it to flash users and loading times etc etc. So today i found myself a nice simple slideshow tool that uses html and javascript. i created it using a site online (which i will not post as i dont think we are allowed to post to online sites).
The slideshow loads images up in the background, and it plays them in a random order.
Now i am able to define individual image links to either a url of the an image, or point it to individual images, listing them one by one in my coding, which as a photographer having differet galleries is goign to be a royal pain when i want to have new images showing up.
So my idea is to replace the code that retrieves in dividual images from url's, to replace it with a piece of code that will display an image from a list of about 7 or 8 folders on my server all containing images....
i.e. displays an image from the folder .../images/models/pic01.jpg then it brings up an iamge from a different folder .../images/portrait/pic08.jpg.
Is there a way to do this and how can i go about it?
this is the code i currently have:
<!-- configurable script -->
<script type="text/javascript">
theimage = new Array();
// The dimensions of ALL the images should be the same or some of them may look stretched or reduced in Netscape 4.
[Code].....

I've made a animated collapsable list using this script. But now I want to keep one submenu expanded, I have the ID of the ul that must be kept expanded. So after everything is collapsed my script checks the ID of every submenu and compares it to the given ID. If the ID of the submenu is equal to the given ID, the submenu should expand. Should, because that doesn't. Here's the code:
[Code]...
I've never used jQuery before, I tried this, but it doesn't work. Also, I don't want to toggle the children, but just show them; without an animation.

I have a query. What is the best way to fade in an image on a page load so that the image is visible if javascript is not supported and does not jump around all over the place if it is supported. What I have found is that I can make it work using either document ready or on window onload however the images all load first and the page goes all crazy for a few seconds before the script actually does what it is supposed to. What I do not want to do is hard code the css display as none for the image as a property as either an element style or in the css file. The reason being that if the script does not run... the image will never load.
OPTION 1
$(
document
).ready (
function (){
$('#logo'
).hide().
fadeIn(
3000
);});
OPTION 2
window.onload =
function(){
$('#logo').
hide().fadeIn(
3000 );};

I have an issue on the following page: [url]
If you look on the right panel, at the heading "What our clients / journalists say", you will notice that it fades into another set of text. However when the page first loads because it takes a few seconds loading in the twitter feed, you will see a big lump of text running down the page.
Only when the Twitter feed has loaded does the lump of text disappear. Can i overcome this somehow?

I have to files: propune.php (which is basically the page that has the form and the div that should be refreshed/appended) and propuneri.php (the file that is handling ajax calls).

The pop up opens up and using the property id loads the data for that record.
in this pop up there is a javascript application, when the user clicks on one of the small images.. it loads full size in the span..
now i didnt write this javascript.. someone in a forum wrote it for me.. i have been able to edit it to suit my layout requirements..
my problem is that when the page loads, the span is empty..
i need an image to load in the span immediately as it looks wrong when it loads..
the picture i want loaded is 'out2' from my database..if anyone knows how to do this i would be very happy.. i tried just placing an img tag in the span but that didnt work.. thanks.

I am building a site with ads that I want to rotate positions (this way I can keep it fair for advertisers- the bottom ad rotates up to the top) upon refreshing the page, searching through the site, or each time the user visits. I have three images (sponsor1.jpg, sponsor2.jpg,sponsor3.jpg) that are always displayed vertically in the right banner. I assume this is just a simple javascript slideshow tweaked a bit but can't figure it out.
I find plenty of js scripts that will rotate several images through one image location, but I want image POSITION 1 to start with sponsor1.jpg, image POSITION 2 to start with sponsor2.jpg..and so on... then upon refreshing the page image POSITION 1 is holding sponsor2.jpg, image POSITION 2 is holding sponsor3.jpg... etc
