what I have is a code containing 2 iframes inside a div.what I'd like to do is refresh one of the iframes when it's page recieves an update from another user.
perhapse I could load the page on the document load, and store those contents in a var.then have a code that will compair the remote page to the var every second or so.if the page compairs differently, update the var info and refresh the iframe.
In my jsp,Struts project i am using the javascript calendar control for selecting the date and by using function calcage() i am calculating the age of the user but problem occurs when the page refreshes OR when user updated the other values such as name ,contact no. Then the value of the age is set as 0 in the textfield as 0

I looked at this script and I tried playing around with it but could not figure out how to: Instead of having a check box field and then a radio box field, have 2 radio box fields, so the user picks from one group of radio boxes and then another. Then change the math behind it so the values in the first field are multiplied by 100 and then the values in the second field tack on a percentage (ex value in first field is 1.5 so 1.5x100 = 150 and value in second field is .5 so total is 225).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using an xmlhttp request to get information from a database. Everything works fine in Firefox, and it works in IE until you try to refresh the page. If a news post (thats what it is getting from the database) is deleted it will continue to show the same information. I can't really post all of the script because it (along with the html and php) are spread out through many different pages:

So my problem is that i can't send form data in FF without page refresh (though in IE7-8 everything works smoothly).
My code fragments:
I am trying to send a javascript request from page_1.html to page_2.html, and have page_2.html rewrite the content on page_1.html,
the code I am using to request page_2.html from page_1.html (so the following code is on page_1.html, just to be clear) , this code works fine on other projects.[code]...
I am current building an information database for the company I work at...basically just a place for employees to get information and answers from. It is all hosted on a local server and I can only use javascript, html, and css. I've got everything made there is just one thing i want to add to it. Basically an "alerts and updates" page that only some people can edit without having to know html so if im not there they can post important updates. No computers have access to the internet so I did try some rich text editors but none of them worked. The layout I'm going for is kind of like this.
Alerts and Updates
Click on links to show updates: update 1 * update 2 * update 3 * update 4
Stuff goes in the update
[edit button]
You click edit it prompts you to login, bring up something to edit the text in that specific update you hit submit and it changes the info that was on there. The update links are linked to a script I wrote that just display the info below so when the page loads you see whats in update 1 then you click update and it changes the content to the next one.
I'm trying to reload some dynamic content that is contained within div tags without refreshing the entire page. After some searching it appears that Ajax is my best bet, but I have never worked with JQuery before.
Here is the code snippet from the page containing the data I'm looking to refresh when a user click the "update" form button:
Code:
<div id="data">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2">
<tr>
[Code]....
As you can see I'm currently just reloading the entire page, which is weak.
I've been ordered to prepare a simple website and I've found the following on some website to load some content into a div without reloading everything on the page.
HTML Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script>
<script language="javascript">
function Load(div, link) {
$(div).load(link);
}
</script>
<a href="#" onclick="Load('#page-content','project.htm');">About the Project</a>
It works and loads project.htm into div id=page-content.
The problem is that it adds just the hash to the main html (default.html) in the website url. When I hit F5 I go back to the main page as even though the content of some div's is different, the url is still just default.html. When I click a link it should load some content into a div and alter the url so when someone refreshes the page or shares a link with someone he can see what he is meant to not the main page.

I have a php webpage that has a single input box. When ever an item is entered and the Submit button is pressed, the entry is added to a database. Additionally, the database table contents are read and printed directly below the input box and the submit button on the same page, using AJAX. Now, I have decided to add additional functionality to the page. I want a delete button for each entry displayed in the table below. For any button that is pressed, I want to delete that entry from the database.
Here's the problem: I want the database table contents that has been printed below to reflect this change. I can achieve the delete, but in order to show the change in content caused by the delete, the table below must either be replaced or updated via ajax. How can I achieve this? I have been trying to follow these examples using jQuery and Mootools respectively, but I've been having no luck. [URL] I don't want all the fancy looks, I just want the core functionality.
I am currently programming Script Adds data to the database but if i want to Shown the data that have been added Requires refresh the page to show the Data that have been added . and I do not want this method.I want to when adding data to show updates as soon as the addition of data.This can be done by Ajax , and An example of this method used Google Gmail.

Our company own a lot of domains and want to put a short page of copy on each address along with keywords before redirecting the user to our main site. I have been able to get the page to load the main site after the desired time using this code in the head...
<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="40;URL=http://webaddress.com/">
That works perfectly, I am now trying to display a countdown timer from 40 seconds down to 0, and on 0 redirect the user. Saying something like "You will be redirected in XX seconds". Is there anyway of doing this? I've been searching google for the answers with no luck and can only seem to find timers that countdown to a set date.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI came across this product page at nordstrom that allows users to filter products by certain criteria (size, fit, price, etc). [URL]..
They use ajax to update the page with any new criteria that users select, but with each page update the page url also changes and the browser history shows the new page. This is done without refreshing the page.
how this is done: creating a new page in browser history but without refreshing the page?
I am using the taconite plugin and am running into a strange issue. I use taconite to call several processes after each other (php) and update messages in the page, as such it is running fine. I have one big issue, if I open one database table too many in one of the calls, taconite receives the xml but does not update the page. With taconite debugging turned on I can see the following: WITHOUT the database I get to my last step in the database: [taconite] time to process response: 28ms [taconite] [AJAX response] content-type: text/xml; status: 200 OK; has

If there is a new entry in the database, how can I use jQuery to update the output without refreshing the page?
i want to know if its possible to update a page based on some information we recieve from a device which a client will have.the simple issue is that a client device will be sending me some values by making a request along with some parameter values. i have to recieve the request, get the values and update the information on the web page.i don't know if the get() and post() function can be used in any way.. they are supposed to send request.if I don't find a solution using jquery, i will be forced to use a servlet, but then again, i have to somehow update the page directly, i can't save the data anywhere and read it. because, one thing is the data is critical and other thing is that i will get data every 5 seconds.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to obtain the computed width value of an element (not window). This is of course easy enough using .width(), but the value needs to reflect the change in this element's width as a result of window resize (the element in question is being used as a page wrapper that utilizes the expand-to-fit of a block-level element).
I've read in various places that .resize() only works on window, but have managed to stumble across an article (benalman(dot)com/code/projects/jquery-resize/examples/resize/) in which .resize() works on an element other than window.
I've managed to craft together a very simple few lines based on the logic in the article. However, although the computed width of the element is returned, it requires a page reload in order for the value to be updated. What I require is the value to be update incrementally (like in article) without requiring a page reload.
Code:
function foo() {
$("#page-inner").resize(function(){
$("#header").append($(this).width());

Stuck in the bottom-right corner of this page is a Social Media sharing tool floating over the page content. It's semi-transparency changes upon hover. It grows out from the corner upon hover as well. [URL] I'm thinking it's ShareBar but I don't see anything like it on the ShareBar site.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text.
Now, I need help for the below issues:
1. Suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages.
2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page.
I am fairly new with jQuery and am trying to figure something out. I am trying to update multiple SPAN elements on my page using the $.get function. So far this is the code I have...
I can loop through and verify it is catching all of them
This outputs the data I am expecting from the GET
How can I set the data returned to the innerHTML of the current span element in the loop?
I have tried $(this).innerHTML and this.innerHTML, but neither worked
