Xmlhttp Doesn't Update - Works In IE Until Try To Refresh The Page
Jul 27, 2009
I'm using an xmlhttp request to get information from a database. Everything works fine in Firefox, and it works in IE until you try to refresh the page. If a news post (thats what it is getting from the database) is deleted it will continue to show the same information. I can't really post all of the script because it (along with the html and php) are spread out through many different pages:

what I have is a code containing 2 iframes inside a div.what I'd like to do is refresh one of the iframes when it's page recieves an update from another user.
perhapse I could load the page on the document load, and store those contents in a var.then have a code that will compair the remote page to the var every second or so.if the page compairs differently, update the var info and refresh the iframe.

[URL]. I looked at this script and I tried playing around with it but could not figure out how to: Instead of having a check box field and then a radio box field, have 2 radio box fields, so the user picks from one group of radio boxes and then another. Then change the math behind it so the values in the first field are multiplied by 100 and then the values in the second field tack on a percentage (ex value in first field is 1.5 so 1.5x100 = 150 and value in second field is .5 so total is 225).

I have this script I want to use. I have 2 dropdown lists (which are both connected to mysql database). The second dropdown list is depending on the first dropdown list in order to show items from the database. I can select an item from the first dropdown, but the second remains on its default setting (kies project).Somehow the page doesn't refresh so the second dropdown list will never show items (according to the selection of the first dropdown list).
In this code there is in the option a "onSelect" part but I'm not sure if this should be there, I think it should be an onChange feature, but cant get it right.

FF, Safari, Opera all execute this javascript code to refresh the page properly, but in IE version 8.0.6001.18904 the page doesn't seem to refresh on click of orange_refresh button. I have checked out a different version of IE8, don't recall exact version, but it did seem to work fine in that one, whatever version it was probably the latest now that I think of it. Check out code below any sug.'s could be helpful, though its probably a bug..
<a href="javascript:document.location.reload();"
onmouseover="window.status='Refresh'; return true"
onmouseout="window.status='Page Refreshed'"><img src="image/orange_refresh.png"
width="30" height="30" border="0" /></a>

Most of the Javascript I see has some sort of time limit on page reload and is not really what I am trying to accomplish:
<meta http-equiv="Refresh"
content="10; URL=http://coffeeandtealtd.com/buynow.html" />
I am trying to make our buy page reload after clicking the Paypal "continue shopping" button in Paypal Website Standards. The pop up Paypal shopping cart window closes after clicking the button but our buy page doesn't reload. It doesn't reload in Safari although it seems to be fine in FF and IE. how to make the page reload in this specific instance only.

This is a makeshift sort function for a table. I want to replace a div contents with a javascript function call. It works fine if I define the individual case, but the general case doesn't work. The problem lies with the +divHold+ part. It never converges to the passed value on the 2nd iteration. This is my Div:

I currently have a form that asks for certain info. When the user enters and then submits it, a javascript script sends the info to a php form and then php does its thing. While doing its thing, php tries to change a php session. I am wondering if there is a way to change the php session, and have it take effect on the user end without a refresh. So if the user has a session for their name (Bob), then goes to this form and changes it to Joe, then session the user has will be changed from Bob to Joe without the page reloading. Is this possible?

I'm working on a project which requires a small portion from a large table of information to be displayed on a webpage (sort of like a magnifying glass). The display will be a table of fixed size (m by n cells). Some of the cells will be merged. When the table updates, different sets of cells may be merged.
It needs to be coded in HTML5, which I assume includes the use of JavaScript and CSS (The specs of this is rather unclear at the moment, so I'm going to cover all bases).
Anyhow, looking through the HTML5 and JavaScript tutorials, I found two ways to solve this problem. One way would be to have a script to parse out the relevant information, and have it output into a table (dynamically generating the HTML required).
The second way would be to have the script draw the table on its own in a canvas.
User events (such as arrow keys on the keyboard) will change the position of the focus (move the magnifying glass in a cardinal direction).
I hit a small snag with the first solution - Is it possible to update the table on the page (including changing the structure of it) without having to refresh?

Each instance of what I need edited also has an id on the page for referenceSo things like <p id='titleonebox' class='editable'>Title that can be edited</p> If I'm updating the DB I have it all figured out because I'm updating X where X is X.However on the index page itself I have 'headers' that I want editable for each div(The divs are populated via the DB and they edit fine)I've tried using save.php from jquery's jEditable documentation but it won't save the value when I refresh the page.

I created slide-show and want to use the pager with auto-transition. So the images will transition, but the user will also have the option to click on a different images. For some reason, when the slideshow works in a auto mode, the "activeSlide" class doesn't update and changes to the active pager. The class appears only on one image pager, and when the image transition, the class is gone, not moving to the next pager.
here is my code:
$(function() {
$('#slide_wrraper').before('<div id="nav">').cycle({

I am at my wits end! I've added DD belated PNG to nearly every site I've ever made with little or no problems, suddenly it's being super-extra mean to me. It will only load PNGs correctly if you clear your cache when refreshing the page (shift + refresh). Check it out at the link below (obfuscated so google doesn't index the site):

NOTE: Just so everyone's aware, this is an IE6 only script that is supposed to fix PNG transparencies, so you'll need to look at it in IE6 to see the problems.

I have a JavaServer demo I'm working on with a bit of JavaScript and thought I'd try adding some AJAX. Its a forum, and the idea is that a post window is revealed when the reply message is clicked. This button is in a jsp page has an onclick attribute to the showEditor() function below. A cancel button is similarly hooked up to hideEditor(), and the submit button calls copy() with a onsubmit tag. A servlet sends a response which has both the HTML for the post area (its a rich-text editor in an iframe, with a bunch of buttons above it much this one) and a Javascript object called Editor that has handlers for all the buttons and sets up the iframe so it is editable.
I actually got it to work okay, until I removed the last alert() I was using for debugging. Then the iframe stops being editable, and the editor.appendQuote() function either doesn't work or doesn't run.
This isn't terribly important because all AJAX accomplishes here is not sending all the post-related HTML and Javascript unless it is actually needed, which isn't all that much, but it would be nice to figure it out anyway.
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
var editor = null;
function showEditor(node) {
if (node != null) {
[Code]....
