Refreshing Page - Refresh The Parent Window Doesn't Work In IE8?

why my simple javascript to refresh the parent window doesn't work in IE8? When the child window closed, it reopen another new window for the page I want the parent window to refresh and nothing happened on the parent window.How can I make it load the page from parent window instead of a new window ??? it works perfectly in other browsers but not IE.

I have a parent page which I don't have control of. I call my child page from parent page, perform some operations and once I click update child window should close and parent window should be refreshed.Everything seems to work fine except the parent page not refreshing.I tried using window.opener.location.reload(true). But it makes a postback in the parent page and so the values that I update are lost because it makes a postback with the previous values.I tried window.opener.document.locationwindow.opener.document.location. But this doesn't refresh my parent page.

i had a user.php page. wen i went to this page i can see the list of projects with radio buttons. so wen i select a radio button and click submit the name of the project wil be send to the next page(upload.php) by 'url' i had used get method for that.so in upload.php i can upload files and those files are displayed in table with download link each so if i press download link it wil download that file.everything is fine but here is my problem when i click on download link a popup open(open with, save like that) and the parent window is refreshing and the projectname i am getting by 'URL' is disappearing and the table is empty. with out that projectname i can do nothing.

I have a main window, in this main window, I have just a bunch of table rows (pulled from a database) that have 'Edit' beside them... If you click 'Edit' it will pull up a seperate window that has the information in an editable format (with forms and such). The user/admin edits the information and clicks 'Submit' it loads up another page in that child window and changes it within the database.. after this has happened, it closes the child window. Now after the child window has closed, I need the parent window to refresh to allow the changes to be viewed.

I have an app that displays a list of items that the user has authority to
change. If the user selects one of the items, another window is opened
containing the details of the item. If the user changes any of the details
of the item I'd like to refresh the original (list) page.

i have a popup from the parent window which allwos the user to add in new location. when the lcoation has been added succesfully. then thewindow closes and the parent gets refreshed. In particular, just the location listbox gets updated with the new value. the location listbox i generated from the database using asp.

I have a selection tag that has a list of dates for data collection, user selects a date and the pages refreshes to display data on a map problem is that the user's selected item in the selection is not preserved during the refresh and the selection drop-down refreshes to the first item of the list. How can I preserve the selected item in the drop-down after page refresh?

I use this code in a popup to refresh the parent browser. It works fine
as long as the user actually clicks on this link but does not work in
cases where the user closes the child popup through the Windows X
(close) button. Any way to accomodate this also?

I have created a modal dialog. When I close it the page refreshes automatically but in my scenario the page should not do so. The code I am using is:

Here I am opening a div tag inside a modal dialog. There is a form submit button. When I click the submit button the modal dialog closes and the page refreshes automatically.

Alright I have an Iframe, and at the end of that Iframe I have set a variable with JS to be equal to TRUE, indicating that the page has run through the script. I then check that the iframe from the parent window for that variable, if it has not been set yet (or does not equal true) it reloads the iframe.
The code works fine FF and Opera. However in IE it does not reload the frame if it is not true, and in Chrome it alerts undefined and does not reload the frame I have tried accessing the frame through the dom and it did not work for me, and i have also tried simply adding a tail to the iframes source with no success. :confused:

Hey all. I am currently putting together a test page of mine where a popup window comes up showing a coupon that I will have a link enabling them to print it simply and easily.
For my current code I have a simple <a href="javascript:window.print()"> that works great on both Internet Explorer 5 and Netscape 4/6 on the PC but for some reason, Internet Explorer 5 for Macintosh doesn't do a thing.

I have the following script that refreshes the page that opened the pop up window, after the pop up window is closed.

It is working fine in IE but it's not refreshing the parent page in FireFox.

I'm unsure if this is a php or javascript problem as I am new to javacript...
I am using a javascript:popup('page.php') command to open a popup box and allow the user to make a few changes to a mysql database. However the values that are changed are displayed on the parent page (the one that the user clicks the popup link on).
Is there a way to refresh the parent page from the popup, so when they submit the form in the popup the parent automatically refreshes with the new values (rather than the user having to manually refresh the page)?

I have this script I want to use. I have 2 dropdown lists (which are both connected to mysql database). The second dropdown list is depending on the first dropdown list in order to show items from the database. I can select an item from the first dropdown, but the second remains on its default setting (kies project).Somehow the page doesn't refresh so the second dropdown list will never show items (according to the selection of the first dropdown list).
In this code there is in the option a "onSelect" part but I'm not sure if this should be there, I think it should be an onChange feature, but cant get it right.

I have a PHP page with an iframe where I load PERL/CGI content. Now of course when I click anything on the parent page the iframe refreshes with it.
But what I really want is to have the parent page refresh when anything inside the iframe is clicked. Of course the iframe should not refresh and go to initial view then. So basically I am looking for a way to have ONLY the parent page refresh every time something in the frame is clicked or to have the parent page and the iframe refresh but with the iframe retaining the last user position.

FF, Safari, Opera all execute this javascript code to refresh the page properly, but in IE version 8.0.6001.18904 the page doesn't seem to refresh on click of orange_refresh button. I have checked out a different version of IE8, don't recall exact version, but it did seem to work fine in that one, whatever version it was probably the latest now that I think of it. Check out code below any sug.'s could be helpful, though its probably a bug..

Most of the Javascript I see has some sort of time limit on page reload and is not really what I am trying to accomplish:

I am trying to make our buy page reload after clicking the Paypal "continue shopping" button in Paypal Website Standards. The pop up Paypal shopping cart window closes after clicking the button but our buy page doesn't reload. It doesn't reload in Safari although it seems to be fine in FF and IE. how to make the page reload in this specific instance only.
