Actively Change / Update Content In Specific Part Of Page
Aug 3, 2011
I am current building an information database for the company I work at...basically just a place for employees to get information and answers from. It is all hosted on a local server and I can only use javascript, html, and css. I've got everything made there is just one thing i want to add to it. Basically an "alerts and updates" page that only some people can edit without having to know html so if im not there they can post important updates. No computers have access to the internet so I did try some rich text editors but none of them worked. The layout I'm going for is kind of like this.
Alerts and Updates
Click on links to show updates: update 1 * update 2 * update 3 * update 4
Stuff goes in the update
[edit button]
You click edit it prompts you to login, bring up something to edit the text in that specific update you hit submit and it changes the info that was on there. The update links are linked to a script I wrote that just display the info below so when the page loads you see whats in update 1 then you click update and it changes the content to the next one.
I am currently programming Script Adds data to the database but if i want to Shown the data that have been added Requires refresh the page to show the Data that have been added . and I do not want this method.I want to when adding data to show updates as soon as the addition of data.This can be done by Ajax , and An example of this method used Google Gmail.
I am trying to do is load new content into a form without resetting the form. I have about 10 checkboxes, once 4 are selected I would like to reload a div in the page to insert four corresponding textareas with the same id as the checkboxes. So for example the checkboxes:
There would be about 10 after 4 are selected than four divs with textareas are loaded onto the page - These textareas have the same id in order for the right ones to load. If your wondering why not just hide the textareas and show when then have been selected by the checkboxes, its because they have a wysiwyg editor attach so it would start to load slow after I add say 10-20 different textareas.
Would this work: Code: $(document).ready(function() { $('#reload_1').click(function() { //var names = []; var myScripts = new Array(4) $('#page_select input:checked').each(function() { names.push(this).attr("id"); }); $('#content_div').load('external_content.php.html # . + '. myScripts[0]); $('#content_div').load('external_content.php.html # . + '. myScripts[1]); $('#content_div').load('external_content.php.html # . + '. myScripts[2]); $('#content_div').load('external_content.php.html # . + '. myScripts[3]); If I had all the divs and textareas in external_page.php and load only the ones needed.
- I have a page with a form inside. When the user submits the form, I would like to have a hidden variable in that form that contains the entire page content as it was when the 'submit' button was clicked (including the HTML, not only the form values). (The reason I want to do this is that I want to save every 'form submission' to a database on the server side.)
I read about the innerHTML, but it looks like its not portable across browsers.
I suspect the solution would be using somekind of javascript, by iterating through the DOM elements of the document and so on, but I'm not sure..
I am trying to send a javascript request from page_1.html to page_2.html, and have page_2.html rewrite the content on page_1.html,
the code I am using to request page_2.html from page_1.html (so the following code is on page_1.html, just to be clear) , this code works fine on other projects.[code]...
Does anyone know if there are any ajax functions that would allow me to pull certain content from one page and display on another in a named <div>?
I currently have some code that pulls all the content and works very well. I am looking to enhance this to say only pull the first <div></div> content.
I have PAGE1 with the link to PAGE2 with iframe. (iframe load several naked html). I want to add directive to the link to point sprcific content of iframe. to make it clear
link on PAGE1 -> load PAGE2 with iframe -> iframe content is specified on link = whole PAGE2 with iframe with desired content...
solving problem with creating several different PAGEs2 poining wanted iframe src is not the case.
$.get('filename.html', function(data) { $('.class_name',data).html(); //returns the HTML of .class_name inside of filename.html });
but it didn't quite work. It loads the entire web page into the defined class name rather than loading a specific content (Look below for further understanding)The filename.html which has content tag names like "[Copyright Year] that goes in the footer position of the site gets dynamically generated.I've created another static page help.html that has pretty much the same content overall except the dynamic content won't get loaded with the content tag (the system doesn't allow static pages to load them). This is what brought me to this solution. So now that I've added a class name to the indicated class that I want to load it pulls all the content and styling of the site rather than just the dynamically generated content of (filename.html) .
<div class="adp_footer">[Copyright Footer]</div> <---- Doesn't get loaded when I used any of the above mention jquery strings,
I am trying to create a Google Translate widget on my webpage, with just one language pair, Latin to English. Unfortunately the Google Translate AJAX API only supports a subset of all languages available, and Latin is not included. However, Latin IS included on the Google Translate website. Apparently languages that are in beta are available there, via a different server, while only fully released languages are available via the AJAX Translate API.a) I wrote a script that generated the XMLHttpRequest() call to the server the Google Translate website uses, but it always returned a '0' status code. I have since found out that this is normal, as these kinds of calls can only be made between pages on the same server.b) I then wrote a script that created a popup, and used the baseURL+params for the URL, , and this produced a pop-up window containing the translation result. However, as that page came from a different server to the server containing the script, I could not access the results on it. The code for that is here:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head>
I have: <div class="date">21-Mar-11</div> I would like to select only the 21 and then only the "Mar" and replace the content of the div with "Mar 21," or something along those lines. The output is not the problem. I need selecting specific parts of the string. So I want to learn more about selecting specific parts of strings.
I'm trying to grab a specific part of a string of text and am wondering how to do it (or if it is possible to do it) with a jQuery selector.Is there any way to get that specific part of the link?
i want to add a part of the website that will be generated from mysql database from an external file just like php include just that i want these parts to update realtime without refreshing the browser. i also want it to have pagination.
Lets say i have a menu with elements "A", "B" and "C" on index.html (my homepage).So classically I should createa.htm, b.htm and c.htm.and link to menu. but rather, I want to have a single "home.htm" that would do all this purpose.My home.htm has all contents same for a,b & c except a "div element" whose content i want to load from different files, different for all the three pages.
I have one page witih PHP where users will be answering a form for file upload. However, I need to give them the option to either upload a file or select one that is already uploaded.
In order for them to select a file that is already uploaded, they will use a pop up window to browse to the file and and select the a file with a radio button or submit button to select the file.
What i need to happen is when they press "select" they window needs to close and that file's url or relative path needs to fill in the "select uploaded file" with the path or url.
I"ll be using PHP in both form and popup for the file, but I cant do that with php without refreshing the page. Can javascript do this and how would I go about this.
How can I , for example, replace an image with another image, or some text, Or change the information in some text. But All this has to happen dynamically and without refreshing the page. How can this be achieved best?
File A - www.example.com/index.html There is an iframe on this page which contains different links. Every link leads to File B (e.g. www.example.com/news.html) which in turn has a frame.
The links on page A should change the source of the frame on page B. In brief - the frame on page A opens page B and every link should change the content/source of page B's relevant frame...
I have a website and it has a section that I want to be updated by the content of the file but can't find any code on the net that will read a file and print the results to the screen. The closest thing I could find to what I wanted to do was this but can't get it to work: Code:
The project I am working on involves a flash piece that communicates with a iframe.Currently the flash piece just calls on javascript functions. I want the buttons in the flash piece to be able to change the src of the iframe.
<script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById('video').setAttribute('src',address2); function closeVideo() {
What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.
like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this
<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.
Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??
just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?
I'm trying to put in my javascript codes and html codes into the sharepoint "content editor web part" source editor.i have this set of javascript codes that needs to work together with the html codes.i created a link using ahref with the tagname as "homepage". i want to hide this "homepage" link using javascript codes.this is the codes that I'm using right now. the html part is working fine[the link "Homepage" is being display and is able to click on] but not for the javascript part.
I have a php webpage that has a single input box. When ever an item is entered and the Submit button is pressed, the entry is added to a database. Additionally, the database table contents are read and printed directly below the input box and the submit button on the same page, using AJAX. Now, I have decided to add additional functionality to the page. I want a delete button for each entry displayed in the table below. For any button that is pressed, I want to delete that entry from the database.
Here's the problem: I want the database table contents that has been printed below to reflect this change. I can achieve the delete, but in order to show the change in content caused by the delete, the table below must either be replaced or updated via ajax. How can I achieve this? I have been trying to follow these examples using jQuery and Mootools respectively, but I've been having no luck. [URL] I don't want all the fancy looks, I just want the core functionality.
