Change Only Part Of A Src?
Aug 16, 2010I've got an idea for simplifying my code and avoid a bunch of switch functions but don't know how, though I assume it's possible.
How do I write a function to change/insert only part of an img src?

Based on screen size, I'd like to change one of the folder names of a url on the page. I know how to detect screen size with jQuery, but I'm not sure how to change only part of a url.
For example:
if screensize > 480px
[URL]
else

I'm making a realtime css editor using jQuery and it works just perfect except for one thing...
When I use solid backgrounds it works fine like this:
But what if I want to change one color of an -webkit-gradient?
How do i do that?
For a very specific project, I need to change the url of the post method for a form depending on the value of a select box.

I just want the contents of the div to be overwritten. I tried using innerHTML=resultDocument but that just results in a message that says "[object DocumentFragment]".

I am current building an information database for the company I work at...basically just a place for employees to get information and answers from. It is all hosted on a local server and I can only use javascript, html, and css. I've got everything made there is just one thing i want to add to it. Basically an "alerts and updates" page that only some people can edit without having to know html so if im not there they can post important updates. No computers have access to the internet so I did try some rich text editors but none of them worked. The layout I'm going for is kind of like this.
Alerts and Updates
Click on links to show updates: update 1 * update 2 * update 3 * update 4
Stuff goes in the update
[edit button]
You click edit it prompts you to login, bring up something to edit the text in that specific update you hit submit and it changes the info that was on there. The update links are linked to a script I wrote that just display the info below so when the page loads you see whats in update 1 then you click update and it changes the content to the next one.
How do we trim out or remove a part of a URL or path?
eg. http://www.mywebsite/folder/somefile.htm ----I want to trim
http://www.mywebsite/folder/ so All I have left is the file name.
<script language="JavaScript">
var pathtotrim = location.href;
document.write (pathtotrim);
</script>
I have a little problem and I hope that I need to get the path of the URL except for the first slash "/". Now if I use window.location.pathname I get an output like this: /about/about/9081ae1b02/
That is almost right but I need to get rid of the first slash (marked in red) so I get: about/about/9081ae1b02/
I'm trying to figure out how to split a url variable... I tried these two ways, with an alert to see my result, but I'm not getting anything.

How do you print part of an html page using the javascript print()

<div></div> block and print it, or can you use a hidden style then

Is there a site on the www which has some information?
Is it possible to refresh only part of a page rather than reload the

is it possible to use the javascript:window.print() command to print only a

I have a bit of html like this
<div id="J5">

This displays OK on my generated page anyway, but later when I want to use a switch statement on the member type it fails because of the spurious stuff I picked up in the variable
Given the following standard jQuery code to .get() a (valid) .xml file: $.get(file)

This is exactly what I need, it'll get me the complete XML document structure, including all nodes and texts. If I have this as a string I can then use $.parseXML() to convert this (back) into a XML document.

I have youtube link saved as a variable with value:[URL]... And I need to get a part of this link which I could use later:
The part would be oOzuBOefL8I It would be great to do it with javascript... Because I have url generated like this one:

+document.getElementById('paveikslelis').value+"&pavadinimas="

I'm sure this is probably a simple question, but I'm going to ask anyway. I need to extract part of a URL and place it into a variable for use elsewhere on the page. The part to be extracted will be of varying lengths.
As an example, if I have the following [URL] I need to extract "SS". Basically, anything that appears between "static.nsf/" and "/Steve's_APT_test_page". That value needs to be put into a variable and called elsewhere on the page. For testing purposes, I'm using the following code, just to see if it works (which, so far, it doesn't):
<script type= type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
var page_url = window.location.href;
var segments = page_url.split("/");
alert(segments[4]);
</script>
I have a situation in which I have to track clicks (links etc..). The problem is, I have a larger div ie - parentDiv - like 300px height, 400px width - approximate. This div has a background image. Now, the issue arises because over this div (parentDiv), I have another div "announceDiv" on top of it showing information.
I ONLY want the parts of parentDiv that is NOT covered by announceDiv to be clickable. Just to reiterate, I have a big div that I want clickable (so I can add a link to the click), but over this big div I have a smaller div showing content ie, information, that links to its own stuff. BUT I want to be able to link from this background image that is in the parentDi without affecting when I click in the smaller div that is superimposed over it.
I have a bit of a problem and as my javascript is a rather poor I'm struggling to come up with a solution. Basically I need to split the variable "#country" into two parts and call the second half as the "this" value for '#int-dc'. Using '+' as the start point end ending at the end of the string.
For instance 'this' returns 12+44 I want to split it to "12" and "+44" the latter (+44) replacing 'this' in the code below.
$(function() {
$("#country").change(function() {
$("#int-dc").val
($(this).val());
});
});
I have some own cursor with a .cur file. But it's very annoying to try changing each part from the css to the new cursor. Is there no aviable script in JS or HTML or CSS or whatever there is, that i can press the link for all cursor like: Pointer, defaut, wait, stop, link and so on. So they all changes into my own? Without having those white cursor.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to extract a particular part of a string:
var str=(document.images('flag').src);
<img id="flag" src="../../../../img/ip/041-080/049p.png">
I only want the "041-080/049" part.
It needs to be read from the right, not the left because the preceding left part will vary in length.
I have this string: this is my test <a href="yay.html">yay</a> and want to just match the part before the <a...: this is my test I can't figure out the regular expression for this. I've tried everything I can think of. It seems that it needs to do a non-greedy search on the first < it finds, but nothing works, like: ((.*<)?)

I'm working on right now to make a website for our game clan in Special Force... Then want a part of their website to be viewed directly on my website.. The link to what i'm talking about is bit.ly/vUNUCi .maybe I can get that html codes then paste it in my website code.but the problem is that when I do it.. It is just there but when any changes happen occur to our clan it will not be updated.. so here's a picture of visualization.. bit.ly/tPQbax (also attached) the red part is the updated part I want to have in my website and those blue-boxed elements in there are those that can be changed/updated... so how can I put that Updated Part of Website to Mine?
