naked html). I want to add directive to the link to point sprcific
content of iframe. to make it clear
link on PAGE1 -> load PAGE2 with iframe -> iframe content is specified
on link = whole PAGE2 with iframe with desired content...
solving problem with creating several different PAGEs2 poining wanted
iframe src is not the case.
I would like to use ajax to load a html page and get the content of a specific div. Is it possible to do this?

It loads the entire web page into the defined class name rather than loading a specific content (Look below for further understanding)The filename.html which has content tag names like "[Copyright Year] that goes in the footer position of the site gets dynamically generated.I've created another static page help.html that has pretty much the same content overall except the dynamic content won't get loaded with the content tag (the system doesn't allow static pages to load them). This is what brought me to this solution. So now that I've added a class name to the indicated class that I want to load it pulls all the content and styling of the site rather than just the dynamically generated content of (filename.html) .

What I am doing: I am creating a tutorial for a friend who cannot figure out how to use her new rental management program. I could use a manual slide show to have her click for the next image however, there are a LOT of tutorial images which show her what to do at that point. Her program contains a great number of setup screens, report screens etc. This means the slide show would be sitting there loading all these images before it will work. So, I figured, OK make a page with an iframe, and then I could put each image on it's own little page i.e. page1, page2 etc. Place a little button, or a next link, then have the link load the pages into the iframe in order.
I created a bookmarklet script to help me audit extremely large style sheets.Basically while on a site that you would like to audit, you click the bookmarklet and the document's body contents gets remove and replaced with an iframe that points to the current sites home page. From here you can choose what style sheet (the script finds) to begin reporting over. The more pages you browse (through the iframe) the more accurate the report gets.My problem however, is if the person is on the site's home page when first running the script, the iframe never loads up. I think it has to do with the fact that you are on the home page, and then the iframe tries to point to the home page as well and fails for some reason.You can test it by bookmarking this bookmarklet and running it on any site's home page where style sheets can be found:

I understand the thread title isn't very descriptive, but what I am asking is hard to describe. Basically, I am linking to ID elements on the page. Once the link ttp://www.example.com/page.html#linkID is clicked, it jumps down the page to the ID.Normally, this is not an issue. However, I have a fixed position navigation panel layer above the page content. When the link is clicked, it cuts off part of the content that I want visible because the fixed position layer is covering it.Is there a way with Javascript (even better if it can be done with CSS) to control how far down the page goes once a link is pressed? For instance, can I say: On link press, go to ID and apply top: 20px; or something to the effect?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out how to make a certain text link load in the active link color. What I'm doing is using frames to display different colors of product. In the right frame is the list of colors, and when clicked on, the image in the left frame changes to show the same product in a different color.
What I need is to let users know which image is being shown when they first come to the page, so I would like that link to show in the active color when the page is first loaded and then change to a visited link when another link is clicked on.
I'm using a function to load a page into a div. When I add the class of the element I want to show (.contentpaneopen) Chrome and Safari show no content. It works OK in IE and FF.When I ommit the class it works on all browsers.

About mid-body I have: <span id="countdown1">2010-07-20 00:00:00 GMT+00:00</span> which allows for the setting of a target date to countdown to.
When the page first loads it shows the above long format target time, until the js/meta tags kick in to modify it to just show the actual countdown as 00:00:00.
I have attached countdownpro.js to this post. I tried shifting the function CD_Init() to the top of the script, and also appended it inline with the .html. I tried setting the big external script to "defer", but neither arrangement worked. I also tried placing the src file right at the top.
It is possible to perform a find in page search that looks at a specific link, opens the page in a new window and finds the text within that document?? Basically I regularly use an html page in work that has a list of people and their telephone numbers. I want to be able to type in a searchbox on my main page and it open the target page and find the name I am looking for? Is there a way to create a menu at the homepage level, that will allow a menu listing the various parent pages, and under each parent page, have a drop down that will point directly at an iframe content?

I currently have some code that pulls all the content and works very well. I am looking to enhance this to say only pull the first <div></div> content.
I am current building an information database for the company I work at...basically just a place for employees to get information and answers from. It is all hosted on a local server and I can only use javascript, html, and css. I've got everything made there is just one thing i want to add to it. Basically an "alerts and updates" page that only some people can edit without having to know html so if im not there they can post important updates. No computers have access to the internet so I did try some rich text editors but none of them worked. The layout I'm going for is kind of like this.

You click edit it prompts you to login, bring up something to edit the text in that specific update you hit submit and it changes the info that was on there. The update links are linked to a script I wrote that just display the info below so when the page loads you see whats in update 1 then you click update and it changes the content to the next one.
I like to try to do some jquery and spinner then load some html code into a div content. I'm not looking deep into the coding part of jquery yet but here's my question. What will be the a href tag look like?

Do you put the url on href or attr? Can I still put the url on href? The reason I ask it's because seo friendly? Will search engine look into other pages by href? But I guess this way will actually load the whole page in the browser and there's no way I can do ajax stuff in this format? I like to do something nice on my links but don't want to hurt the seo part.
Another thing that has been driving me crazy is that css positioning is handled differently by different browsers. JS is not my area, but I can do a lot with CSS, and I do, but cross browser compatibility is killing me.
I can use an IF IE statement and only IE runs that segment of code, but I haven't been able to figure out out how to make ONLY firefox or ONLY opera or safari enact an encapsulated segment of code. The same type of IF statement doesn't work for them.
Is there a single method using JS that works for all browsers?

What I want to do is go from page1 (which does not have an Iframe) to page2 (which does have an Iframe) and change the content of that Iframe based on the links clicked on page1.
So say I click link1 on page1, I want page2 to show up and for the Iframe to show link1 content.
If I click link2 on page1, I want page2 to show up and in the Iframe I want to see link2 content.

I have a simple page with an iframe on; frame.html Inside this frame is a simply page; page1.html. Page1.html has a link to a stylesheet called style1.css.There is also a hyperlink to page2.html. Page2.html has a link to a stylesheet called style2.css.Now what I want to achieve is for the main page, frame.html, to style itself according to whatever is contained in page1.css, as it is page1.html on the frame. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iframe. I load a page within it. The page I load is a php page that I build with a table with the id of 'readmail_table'. My iframe is 'readmail_frame'. Someone clicks on a message title outside of the iframe and I load the contents of the message in the iframe from the database in my table. Sometimes this takes longer than others depending on how large the message is. What I am doing here is letting the contents load then calculating the width and height of the table and then increasing the iframe's size so there are no scrollbars. This works 98% of the time but I ran into an issue where the table does not exist yet in the iframe and the JS code errors out. So what I did then was add a local var, set it to false then had a while loop check for the table and once it finds it, set the var to false and run my code. Again, mixed results. Sometimes this works then others I get that the table id I am looking for is null but my if statement in the while loop is checking to see if != null line 159 is where it is breaking The error I am getting in firebug is

The other contents of "ajax_display-contentselection.asp" are displayed properly in "div_ajaxfillattractions" of "default.asp", but no javascript code on that page loads. If I use "ajax_display-contentselection.asp" as an include file on "default.asp", I get the javascript alert of 'Success', but when I initiate the AJAX it does not work, so I know there isn't a problem with the javascript.
