Perform A Find In Page Search That Looks At A Specific Link, Opens The Page In A New Window?
Mar 29, 2011
It is possible to perform a find in page search that looks at a specific link, opens the page in a new window and finds the text within that document?? Basically I regularly use an html page in work that has a list of people and their telephone numbers. I want to be able to type in a searchbox on my main page and it open the target page and find the name I am looking for? Is this possible or can you only Find In Page on the same page or another frame?
when you click on the link a new page html page opens and on that new page, information found in a database with the id of 12(as found in the link) will be displayed using external style sheets etc. Can this be done with html css javascript and json? P.S I know how to do this with php however I want this to be done in my mobile app so the actual page cannot be a .php page
I am trying to usw window.open , upload a file in the child window and then referesh the parent window. But once upload is done, window . opener .location.href or opener.location.replace sends a message back but I get a pop up blocker, so if I turn pop up blocker off, it opens in new page. I just want the parent page to refresh on the same window. This works on some employees stations but not on others..I don't know if there are any settings on IE that need to change, I tried everything...weird. does any one done this before?
I would like to include drop-down navigation links on my home page that connect to other pages on my website. No problem there. The problem is that some of the other pages contain a series of div elements that are hidden (display:none) until activated by javascript enabled links on the page. Clicking those links changes some of the page's content (within a div) .. almost like a "new" page. [URL]. Here's my question: Is there any way to create menu links on my home page that will open the "concert.html" page AND display the appropriate div content at the same time? For example: on the home page, a menu link under "Concert" that opens that page and automatically displays the "Rock Symphonies" section?
Here are the related HTML div elements on the "concert.html" page: <div id="page1">concept content</div> <div id="page2" style="display:none;">rock symphonies content</div> <div id="page3" style="display:none;">general program content</div> <div id="page4" style="display:none;">ticket price content</div> <div id="page5" style="display:none;">concert committee content</div>
Here are the corresponding js-enabled links: <li><a href="javascript:page(1,5);" id="tag1">Concept</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:page(2,5);" id="tag2">Rock Symphonies</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:page(3,5);" id="tag3">General Program</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:page(4,5);" id="tag4">Ticket Prices</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:page(5,5);" id="tag5">Concert Committee</a></li>
And here's the javascript I'm using: (scripts/generator.js) function page(id,all) {for (i=1; i<=all; i++) { if (i==id) { document.getElementById('page'+i).style.display="inline"; document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.fontWeight="normal"; document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.color="#FFF"; } else { document.getElementById('page'+i).style.display="none"; document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.fontWeight="normal"; document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.color="#a4bfed";} }}
I'm using the greatInline Modal Window w/ CSS and jQuery from [url] and it's working great. Now I want use it with an form in it:action="?" method="post"
When form is send the popup is closed, how can I prevent this? I think that happens because the whole page is send. Can I set an extra parameter so the popup opens when the page is reloaded?
Basically, I have a link that should open the targeted link in a blank page, and upon the link being clicked, the original page's URL should be changed. The reason for this is that the user has to browse information on another website, and then pass the information on to me via a contact form, so rather than make them click back on my tab in the browser, and then find the "Contact" page link to fill in the form, I thought it would a good feature to simply go ahead and load the "Contact" page upon them clicking the link to the external page (which of course loads in a new tab). Here is the code I have in place:
This all works fine on my computer, regardless of the browser that I use. One of my partners on this project called me this morning and said that the link was taking him directly to the "Contact" page without opening the "Other Site." This is strange because after I put this in place, I showed it to him and it worked fine. Now, a few days later, and it does not work. He said that he cleared his browser cache, history, cookies, etc. and the problem did not go away. He uses IE8. After he told me it was no longer working, I went to test it myself, and it works fine for me no matter which browser I use (IE8 or 9, Firefox 3 or 4 Beta).
why this might have worked one day and not the next? Is it simply a problem on his computer, or could it be an issue where based on what type of browser you are using, this won't work. Also, I know this is the JavaScript forum, but is there a way to do this in PHP without using the JavaScript onclick event? Obviously, I can't use the header() function since this functionality needs to be present on a link within text of a page.
I've been the last few days around a script that I can't make it work. This script is a search engine, when you look for something say the word "titanic", it shows you a list of results with numbers, being the first link with the higher number (kinda like a score), and then after u click the link you want he goes to the respective page. Now I want him to skip the results page, and directly open the first link that he founds on the page.
The Script <!-- Begin var item = new Array(); // Just enter as many additional pages that you want to search, then fill in he additional listings for each page. // "Page Name","path","Page Title","Many,Key,Words","Descriptive Comments" c=0; item[c]=new Array("centerif.htm","","titanic","index, main, start, home, front","Demonstration search engine data about an imagined but probable internet site."); .....
i have a free js script for a search engine, pretty simple, i define the key words and the .html associated to them. But when i enter a word he starts listing the matches he found and rate them by number, being the highest number the most probable match!
Now what i want to is to SKIP the listing, and redirect automatically for the .html of the first match he finds .
The script:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- Original: Dion (biab@iinet.net.au) --> <!-- Web Site: http://www.iinet.net.au/~biab -->
I want to determine the position of each link on a page. I need to know the browser window size, or at least screen resolution. I also need a position in pixels for each link. For example while browsing this page my screen resolution is 1680*1050 and the Blogs link in the menu is positioned at say (100, 120).Is there any consistent way to find this out in the major browsers?Note that the links are just plain links, they don't have the position attribute set in css or anything.I'm thinking about building a script that tracks user click behaviour and it would be tremendously helpful if I didn't need to input say "link Blogs is positioned in area N" to the tracking system.
I have PAGE1 with the link to PAGE2 with iframe. (iframe load several naked html). I want to add directive to the link to point sprcific content of iframe. to make it clear
link on PAGE1 -> load PAGE2 with iframe -> iframe content is specified on link = whole PAGE2 with iframe with desired content...
solving problem with creating several different PAGEs2 poining wanted iframe src is not the case.
I have a page built in Sharepoint. I need to create a little search box within that page so people can search for names on that same page. It's a page with a lot of text, hence why the search feature is needed.
just look at the scroll bar in your internet browser when the picture slide working you will find the scroll getting extended - the page must be ended by the copyrights down of the page and after the slide you will find some extra blank space in the page after the copyrights link.
How to make an image map link to another page AND open a specific accordion section?I guess I need a script that knows which area of the image map was clicked and not only navigate to page 2 but opens the section via slide toggle I need it too. Here is the the page with the image map (although image map version not upload yet so I have what will be uploaded below)[URL] ...and the page I need to navigate to based on the area of the image map clicked and also slidetoggling the div I need it [URL] Here is the image map:
I need a script that will open a new window (popup / new link) in a specific size, but will also close the old window (where the popup came from). I know the popup window is easy but finding a work-able close window script as the new window is opened is impossible!!
The problem is that throughout my php project it calls different classes and definitions based on what modules are loaded. Is it possible to get it to load a function that is predefined rather than executing a page that will require me to once again declare all my variables and classes so I can perform just a simple db search.
My goal is to load the JS for a specific element before displaying that element. I integrated a third part script, and it works well. I set the timer here:
The JS is in my heading as <script type="text/javascript" src="countdownpro.js"></script>
About mid-body I have: <span id="countdown1">2010-07-20 00:00:00 GMT+00:00</span> which allows for the setting of a target date to countdown to.
When the page first loads it shows the above long format target time, until the js/meta tags kick in to modify it to just show the actual countdown as 00:00:00.
I have attached countdownpro.js to this post. I tried shifting the function CD_Init() to the top of the script, and also appended it inline with the .html. I tried setting the big external script to "defer", but neither arrangement worked. I also tried placing the src file right at the top.
I am using a very simple search-type page to enable users to input a model number and its page appears in a inline frame. Its not a true search as it is simply relying on a person entering the correct html page name to find it. But this works perfectly in my application. The problem I have is that I cannot get the type box to accept enter key as a submitt, only a click of the mouse will submitt the request. If enter is pressed the box loses the users input but no action is taken.I think this may be a javascript issue. I have posted the code below.
I have a little tabbed content window that uses jquery and I have an annoying little problem: whenever I click on one of the tabs, the page resets to the top, so if you click on the last tab, you have to scroll down to see it again.
Here's a link: [URL]
If you look at this page in IE, I know, it displays all screwed up. I'm too tired to tackle IE today.
What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.
like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this
<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.
Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??
just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?
When my page opens the text (Credit Card Validation Information) that I want to call shows up on the page before the link is selected. I would like this text to display only if and when the link is selected, not when the page opens. Code:
Basically I want some of the links in my page to open in new tabs (I'm using Firefox) or windows if the user has their options configured that way. And I want my page to remain intact as it involves some AJAX and takes a while to load.
But ...and this seems to be a big "but"... I don't want the focus to move away from the page I'm on. So techniques such as <a target="_blank"or <a onclick="window.open(...)"aren't working for this requirement. I even tried using a separate function and attempting to return to the original window straight after using the following function: Code:
