Clicking On Link Resets Browser Window To The Top Of The Page?

Jan 7, 2010

I have a little tabbed content window that uses jquery and I have an annoying little problem: whenever I click on one of the tabs, the page resets to the top, so if you click on the last tab, you have to scroll down to see it again.

Here's a link: [URL]

If you look at this page in IE, I know, it displays all screwed up. I'm too tired to tackle IE today.

If you click that link and scroll down to the screen shot section and click on one of the images you can see how nice and professional it looks. How can I accomplish this?

Change On A Page By Clicking A Link?

Jan 10, 2011

I tried to word the question as best as possible, but here is what I want to do. I am creating a calculator online and it is getting more and more extensive, which is good b/c I'm learning a lot. Here is what I'm trying accomplish now. I am using "input" to get information from the user in the top section of my calculator and that will always stay the same.The part that will change is the results section (bottom part of the calc) based on a few different variations or setups, so I want to be able have them click on a few different options.

Option 1ption 2Option 3Depending on which one they click I want the javascript that is run for the results section to correspond to the option chosen. I also, want to be able to have a default option displayed the first time the page is loaded and then have it change if a different option is chosen. I don't think reloading the page is necessary, but I'm new to this and could use a little direction.I hope what I'd like to do makes a little sense. I'm not asking for any code written that will do this, but naturally something hints or tips that could get me going.I don't know how to "monitor" a link and return a value to a variable, so that it can be put into a an if statement in the results section.After that, it would be continually monitored or somehow restarted if the variable does change. Again, I don't know if this is the best way to go at it, but I'm not sure at all

JQuery :: Browser Hangs When User Clicks On Any Link On Page

Apr 12, 2010

I've got a jQuery ajax call to a php script which gets aborted when a user clicks on any link on the page.

The ajax call aborts ok, but the php script, which includes a sleep() function is not aborted until after the sleep() has finished sleeping.

Does anyone know if there's any way to make the sleep() function also abort when a user cancels / aborts the ajax request?

Basically I regularly use an html page in work that has a list of people and their telephone numbers. Link To Page Using Target Blank & Linking Page's Window Location?

Feb 16, 2011

Basically, I have a link that should open the targeted link in a blank page, and upon the link being clicked, the original page's URL should be changed. The reason for this is that the user has to browse information on another website, and then pass the information on to me via a contact form, so rather than make them click back on my tab in the browser, and then find the "Contact" page link to fill in the form, I thought it would a good feature to simply go ahead and load the "Contact" page upon them clicking the link to the external page (which of course loads in a new tab). Here is the code I have in place:

Code JavaScript:
<a href="http://www.othersite.com/" target="_blank" onclick="window.location.href='http://www.mysite.com/contactus.php';">Other Site</a>

This all works fine on my computer, regardless of the browser that I use. One of my partners on this project called me this morning and said that the link was taking him directly to the "Contact" page without opening the "Other Site." This is strange because after I put this in place, I showed it to him and it worked fine. Now, a few days later, and it does not work. He said that he cleared his browser cache, history, cookies, etc. and the problem did not go away. He uses IE8. After he told me it was no longer working, I went to test it myself, and it works fine for me no matter which browser I use (IE8 or 9, Firefox 3 or 4 Beta).

why this might have worked one day and not the next? Is it simply a problem on his computer, or could it be an issue where based on what type of browser you are using, this won't work. Also, I know this is the JavaScript forum, but is there a way to do this in PHP without using the JavaScript onclick event? Obviously, I can't use the header() function since this functionality needs to be present on a link within text of a page.

JQuery :: Stop Browser Window Jumping To Top Of Page?

Jul 4, 2009

I'm completely new to jquery and javascript and am just trying to get a simple script up and running. I've put this in the head of the document:

[Code]...

with a div with an id of "togglecontent" and a link with an id of "fadein" in the body about halfway down the page. The toggle works well, but when you click on the link, as well as "togglecontent" becoming visible, the browser window jumps to the top of the page, which obscures some of the toggled div. Is there any way I can stop this from happening?

Open A New Browser Window In A Data Access Page

Mar 2, 2006

I know this is a Java Script fourum but since VB and Java are so closely related I thought I would look for some help here. Anyway I am running MSAccess Data Access Pages and need to know if I can open a new browser window from a page created by a parameter query? In breif here is my problem. I used the "Image Control" to bind 6 photos via a Parameter Query with the drive path to each photo stored in a table. So far this works great and the co-workers are impressed. However the photos (Thumbnails) are small and it would be great if I could use the "Image Control's" (on-click) event to open a new widow so as to see a larger image of the photo. As an interim solution I am using the Hyperlink control, however when you click on it the photo opens in the same window and when you click IE's Back arrow the Parameter query prompts the user for the value again. All this could be avoided if the Image control (or hyperlink) could open a new window (with the photo of course), and when finished merely close it. The script

<script language=vbscript for=Image0 event=onclick>
<!--
window.open.
-->
</script>

does nothing without the correct href which I don't know since that information is coming from the parameter query.

How To Set Link's "visited" Property/pseudo-class Without Clicking On The Link

Apr 27, 2007

I would like to set the link's "visited" pseudo-class with javascript
without clicking on the link. My goal is to update the link's color
(previously set in the CSS file) to be "visited" without actually
clicking on the link and then clicking "back" in the browser.

Does anyone know how? Here are the following things I've already
tried to no avail:

var obj = document.getElementById("idOfMyLink");

//obj.visited=true; // NO
//obj.style.visited=true; // NO
//obj.click(); // NO, performs a click and takes me away from
current page

/*
// Setting the src of an iframe on the same page, trying to
"stuff" this URL into browser's "History"

var theFrame = document.getElementById("myiframe");
theFrame.src = obj.href;

// NO. The iframe does go to correct URL, but the link's color
doesn't update.*/Any ideas?

Script Display A Popup In The Middle Of The Browser Window - Graying Out The Background - Page Is Displayed From The Top

Aug 19, 2011

I've copied and customized a script to display a css popup in my little website. The script should display a popup in the middle of the browser window, graying out the background, Everything seems to work fine except that at the end of the script, the page is displayed from the top. This means that if you click on the popup link from a position down in the page, you'll miss it because you will be taken to the top of the page, where you can't see it.

This is the HTML and CSS code:

HTML Code:

And the js:

Code:

I've been debugging with alert boxes and everything seems to be fine until the script ends execution. Then the user is brought again at the top of the page...

In my final site the only thing I would like to show in the popup is a Flash movie.

Do you know any workaround? I would even implement a completely different solution if I knew which...

By the way: At this stage I am using Chrome but I would like my solution to work in any browser, that will the next issue.

He tells me that when clicking on a menu item on the top blue bar, his browser crashes. Is this possible, and does it sound like a javascript issue, because I beleive the menu has some jquery in it for the dropdown and I wouldnt have through straight html could crash a browser, even if it is old.

Click On A Link To Open It In A New Window/tab WITHOUT Leaving The Current Page

Basically I want some of the links in my page to open in new tabs (I'm

that way. And I want my page to remain intact as it involves some AJAX

But ...and this seems to be a big "but"... I don't want the focus to
move away from the page I'm on. So techniques such as <a
target="_blank"or <a onclick="window.open(...)"aren't working for
this requirement. I even tried using a separate function and
attempting to return to the original window straight after using the
following function: Code:

Stop Users From Double Clicking On The Page Or Disable Double Clicking?

I have a page that submits to a db then re-loads its self with new information. Unfortunately it goes wrong when the user double clicks on a one of many text links that provides the info for the display on reload. How do I stop users from double clicking on the page? Ideally I think I would like to call some sort of js function from body onload as I presume this would then cover the whole of the page, but have no idea if this is possible or how to go about writing it.

JQuery :: Update DIV When Clicking On Link

I have a couple of links which when clicking on them start a video. In another div with id="info" I want to give more information about the video which is playing.
