Edit Function So The Link Opens In New Window

May 14, 2009

I have the following html code, that is an input Button and onclick runs the javascript function EnquiriesReport().

<input type="Button" name="Enquiries" value=".Enquiries" onClick="EnquiriesReport()" class="formsubmitTwo">

Here is the javascript code for the EnquiriesReport() function:

function EnquiriesReport()
{
if( ValidateData()) {
form1.action="EnquiriesReport.asp?"
form1.submit();
}
}

My question is how can I run the EnquiriesReport() function so that the "EnquiriesReport.asp?" opens in a new window?

Creating Menu Link That Opens New Page And Call Function

Jun 21, 2011

I would like to include drop-down navigation links on my home page that connect to other pages on my website. No problem there. The problem is that some of the other pages contain a series of div elements that are hidden (display:none) until activated by javascript enabled links on the page. Clicking those links changes some of the page's content (within a div) .. almost like a "new" page. [URL]. Here's my question: Is there any way to create menu links on my home page that will open the "concert.html" page AND display the appropriate div content at the same time?
For example: on the home page, a menu link under "Concert" that opens that page and automatically displays the "Rock Symphonies" section?

Here are the related HTML div elements on the "concert.html" page:
<div id="page1">concept content</div>
<div id="page2" style="display:none;">rock symphonies content</div>
<div id="page3" style="display:none;">general program content</div>
<div id="page4" style="display:none;">ticket price content</div>
<div id="page5" style="display:none;">concert committee content</div>

Here are the corresponding js-enabled links:
<li><a href="javascript:page(1,5);" id="tag1">Concept</a></li>
<li><a href="javascript:page(2,5);" id="tag2">Rock Symphonies</a></li>
<li><a href="javascript:page(3,5);" id="tag3">General Program</a></li>
<li><a href="javascript:page(4,5);" id="tag4">Ticket Prices</a></li>
<li><a href="javascript:page(5,5);" id="tag5">Concert Committee</a></li>

And here's the javascript I'm using: (scripts/generator.js)
function page(id,all) {for (i=1; i<=all; i++) { if (i==id) {
document.getElementById('page'+i).style.display="inline";
document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.fontWeight="normal";
document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.color="#FFF"; }
else {
document.getElementById('page'+i).style.display="none";
document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.fontWeight="normal";
document.getElementById('tag'+i).style.color="#a4bfed";} }}

Using ParentNode In Link To Edit Table Row?

May 11, 2009

I have been using parentNode to delete rows from a table when clicking a button using:this.parentNode.parentNode.rowIndex Now, I have another case where I want to determine the row number to edit the row. This time, however, I've decided to use a link on the first column of the row. Because I wasn't using a button, I assumed that I could simply remove one of the parentNode's in the function call. But when I click the link I am getting a javascript error saying the parentNode.rowIndex is null or not an object. Listed below is the code I'm using.

JQuery :: Display DIV Link To Edit Content On Mouseover

Dec 18, 2007

I have divs that contain html text. What I need is when I move mouse over that div link is displayed to edit content.

I have such code:
$J('div.editable_content').mouseover(function(event) {
$J(event.target).css("border", "1px solid black");
$J('div.content_edit', event.target).show();
return true;
}).mouseout(function(event) {
$J(event.target).css("border", "0px");
setTimeout(function(){
$J('div.content_edit', event.target).hide();
}, 2000);
return true;
});

But the problem is that if I move mouse on content that is inside this div (for example image) than mouseout event is triggered. One solution would be adding this event to all elements inside that div. What selector should I use to select all elements inside div ("div.editable_content *" and "div.editable_content > *" does not seem to work for this problem)? Any better solutions how to do this without attaching events to all elements?

Creating Links That Opens A Newly Targeted Window And Changes The Current One

Anyone know how to create this in JS? User clicks on a link, the link opens a new window with new webpage AND the page that had the link then changes to a new webpage as well. So end the end that link takes the user to two new pages. For instance, I am on PageA.html and I click an <a href="">Link</a>. Link take me to a newly targeted page called PageB.html. Then at the same time PageA.html turns into PageC.html.

Setting Location.href On A Modal Popup Opens A New Window

Sep 29, 2010

I am developing an application that is opened via a modal popup from another application that I do not have control over. In IE, the method of creating the popup that holds my application is window.showModalDialog. When I redirect the user via javascript with something as simple as, location.href='someURL'; another popup window is opened rather than just redirecting the browser. When a user is using anything other than IE, the window.open method is used and those browsers redirect within the same window appropriately.

Function Name Opens In Address Bar Istead Of URL

Feb 9, 2011

I am using the below code to assign the javascript function on select on radio button. This may vary based on radio button selection. For some radio button selection the button will be disabled.

if(yes)
{
document.getElementById("Name").href = "javaScript:functionA()";
document.getElementById("Name").onclick = "javaScript:functionA()";
}else
{
document.getElementById("Name").href = "#";
}

This is the code i am using to activate the button or disable the button. For some causes i am getting "javaScript:functionA()" in the address bar instead of calling that java script method. So my new window is not showing me the correct result.

And we can edit and reuse the function easily, also if you are using an editor like Netbeans you can see all your functions in a list.

Even more, I think in some situations is faster a closure because we are not creating a new object every time we pass the function:

Is there any reason for chosing lambda functions?
