when i load page it does nothing only blank page, may have code in wrong place but not sure so can someone show me a working example so i can find out what i'm doing wrong also i would like the part of page to refresh evey 120 seconds is this possibe with jquery?
For our new site we need to regularly update part of page.What solutions are there for this purpose??

as shown up the code will first load everything in the sub-main.html page then after Finnish loading will reference to the specific post "post5" and selected of highlighted but if the numbers of the post lets say 20 posts inside the sub-main.html it's will take to load forever . what i want to is when i click the link in main.html to go to the post5 in the other page how can i load just the div element of the "post5" and the rest give the user the option to load it if he wish to see the whole posts
So my problem is that i can't send form data in FF without page refresh (though in IE7-8 everything works smoothly).

Im doing an Ajax call which calls a Java struts 2 action. This action basically just does a DB update. There is no data being returned to the client. The page refreshes to a blank white page. Im a Jquery newbie. As far as I can gather JQuery is expecting data back. It gets nothing back (which is what I want). But Jquery does a refresh with this. Hence why my page goes to a blank white page. I think this is what is happening
I was thinking of putting in my dummy div and loading the blank/empty no html into the dummy div but there has to be a way to stop the white page showing up. I dont get pop up boxes either as shown in code above:

I would like to achieve such thing, as to load some part of other page, like this:

but I need to do a beforeSend callback, to fade out the current content, wait until it is fully hidden, and only then fade in with the received ajax request. But doing this, for example, with .ajaxSend, the content loads much quicker, then fadeOut is complete.
I am using a Jquery/PHP/MySQL login script which is supposed to display an error or success message when the user enters their username/password and also if the username/pw is successfull go to a secure page. Right now as I have it coded, this isn't working properly. I am trying to incorporate two javascript files (using jQuery) and they are creating a conflict.If the main js is on the page part of the page does not work. Basically, I have a link that should open the targeted link in a blank page, and upon the link being clicked, the original page's URL should be changed. The reason for this is that the user has to browse information on another website, and then pass the information on to me via a contact form, so rather than make them click back on my tab in the browser, and then find the "Contact" page link to fill in the form, I thought it would a good feature to simply go ahead and load the "Contact" page upon them clicking the link to the external page (which of course loads in a new tab). This all works fine on my computer, regardless of the browser that I use. One of my partners on this project called me this morning and said that the link was taking him directly to the "Contact" page without opening the "Other Site." This is strange because after I put this in place, I showed it to him and it worked fine. Now, a few days later, and it does not work. He said that he cleared his browser cache, history, cookies, etc. and the problem did not go away. He uses IE8. After he told me it was no longer working, I went to test it myself, and it works fine for me no matter which browser I use (IE8 or 9, Firefox 3 or 4 Beta).
why this might have worked one day and not the next? Is it simply a problem on his computer, or could it be an issue where based on what type of browser you are using, this won't work. Also, I know this is the JavaScript forum, but is there a way to do this in PHP without using the JavaScript onclick event? Obviously, I can't use the header() function since this functionality needs to be present on a link within text of a page.

I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.
I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.
So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:
Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?
I have a small iframe (mid-right) with an embedded audio player.

Nothing fancy, however with that in there, the page seems to load twice in
IE. It fetches the SSI header, then clears it, then loads the rest of the
page 'behind the scenes', then finally displays it.
If I remove the embed, it loads the page bit by bit and you can start
reading before the rest of the page is done, which is what is desired for
obvious reasons.
Any idea why embed causes this? Works fine in FF etc.
I am building a site with ads that I want to rotate positions (this way I can keep it fair for advertisers- the bottom ad rotates up to the top) upon refreshing the page, searching through the site, or each time the user visits. I have three images (sponsor1.jpg, sponsor2.jpg,sponsor3.jpg) that are always displayed vertically in the right banner. I assume this is just a simple javascript slideshow tweaked a bit but can't figure it out.
I find plenty of js scripts that will rotate several images through one image location, but I want image POSITION 1 to start with sponsor1.jpg, image POSITION 2 to start with sponsor2.jpg..and so on... then upon refreshing the page image POSITION 1 is holding sponsor2.jpg, image POSITION 2 is holding sponsor3.jpg... etc
I wanted help for a JavaScript code. You might think I'm lazy for not writing it myself, but the truth is I am not a JavaScript coder. I just have a really simple website and I am trying to do something for which I know JS is required but I don't know how to do it. I've also searched around but couldn't find the appropriate code.

Our company own a lot of domains and want to put a short page of copy on each address along with keywords before redirecting the user to our main site. I have been able to get the page to load the main site after the desired time using this code in the head...

That works perfectly, I am now trying to display a countdown timer from 40 seconds down to 0, and on 0 redirect the user. Saying something like "You will be redirected in XX seconds". Is there anyway of doing this? I've been searching google for the answers with no luck and can only seem to find timers that countdown to a set date.
I have some javascript code that does some GET and POST requests that are required. Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.

I know that to add css onto a page, normally you need to grab a class or id. However, in this case i do not know what classes/div's are available.What would be the best way to add css onto a loaded page after the page is loaded without knowing any classes/id's?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know how to employ .load() to bring a partial doc.html into a receptacle division upon menu selection, but am still unclear after reading the api whether I can also load a dedicated .css file for it ...I suppose prior to content load(?)... or if I can/should outfit the doc.html with <head><style> yada yada</style></head> and load it as one doc..
Or is one obliged to write out the entire styling for the doc.html in camelCase as a string enclosed in .css() ??
These are various stories fetchable via a menu. Each one has a different and detailed set of classes for styling..
Lastly, should I identify each story as an id or class?
What I'm not wrapping my head around is how to lay out the stylesheet. If a particular story ...(I'm using the same name as its document page (minus '.html')... is denoted as a class or id, then how do I assure that all the classes and id's which are in effect subordinate only to that id or class name also get loaded...?

I'm building my portfolio website. I'm an illustrator and graphic designer (for printing). My website uses html and css. I introduce a jquery plugin to create a slide show with my work. Until then, everything was working well. The problem appears when I introduce php to my code in order not to repeat the navigation bar all the time. With php and the jquery together I get a blank page in my browser.
