Inserting Pop Up In Index Page

View 1 RepliesI've been trying JavaScript a little bit. I beginned by changing
an image using a very simple:
document.getElementById(...).src="new image"
Which worked fine.
However this does not work if Firefox is configured with
the "Change images" disabled... Fair enough.
Now I'd like to try something else: not "changing" an image
but inserting a new image, in a page that had no image
previously.
I'd like to do this because the image isn't ready yet when
the user arrives on the page: I want the page to already
render the text, then "insert" an image once the server
is done creating it.
For example, when the user arrives on the page, he sees
the following text:
"Please wait while the server is preparing the data
you want to visualize"
And then after a few seconds the image appears (the
script checks data on the server every second using
XmlHttp requests and once the server warns that he's
ready, I modify the src of an 1x1 image).
As I already said, it works if I change the src of an
image already present on the page (like a 1x1 white
pixel on a white background) but now I'd like
to know if it's possible to insert a whole new image
in a page that had none previously.
Note that I'm not necessarly looking for something that
works even when Firefox's "Change images" is disabled
but simply as to how to insert a new image in a page
instead of changing a 1x1 white pixel.
I know this functionality can be achieved using frames, but I'm trying to avoid that because it seems to break everything else when I do use them!
Here is a snapshot from my website, in basic form at the moment:
What I am trying to do is: make the names on the left side adjust the text on the right side. However, I would like to be able to put the text / pictures for each link in a separate HTML, to make it easy to update and add new ones in the future. Is there some way to do this in jQuery, preferably that does not require a huge knowledge of programming?
I was wondering if it is possible to do something like below using JS.Say I have some hidden text at the top of an HTML page and an empty tag at the bottom of the page.Is there any way JS could grab the content inside #text and move it inside #empty_container when the page loads?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to dynamically insert the Tweetmeme button using Javascript. I'm currently using jQuery throughout the site. Here's the script that I'm using. I basically want to cycle through all the blog entries with a class of journal-entry and append the following JavaScript to the end. This Javascript comes straight from[URL].. This doesn't work for me though and it has something to do with the code between append(). It doesn't like the second set of script tags.

I want to use the same Photoslider II code but for three different slideshows on same index page. The problem is one works fine but when I add another one on same page everything gets screwed up. The code is below but how can I make adjustments so each one works independently? Code:
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I'm making an ecommerce store and I'd want to hide a product scroller and a banner if the page is any other than index.php, and I know jQuery has the .hide function, but all the examples link it to a button/link/other but I don't understand how to code a conditional statement that hides the code if the page loaded is anything else than index.php.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWould like to say right away that I'm a massive newbie on this and the project below is something I'm creating for others but also to help me learn at the same time. First of all I have my Index file. This contains 3 divs (MainDiv TopDiv and BottomDiv) in which I load iframes onto using innerhtml using this code.
function loadPageX(pageAddress,containerID
{
var el=document.getElementById(containerID)
el.innerHTML="<iframe src="" + pageAddress + ""height="100%" frameborder="0" width="100%" ALLOWTRANSPARENCY="true"></iframe>"

I need guideline with a script I am using for a link on my index page to load up a different page with two iFrames on it and at the same time load up different pages in each of these iFrames. I have achieved this with only one iFrame so far with this script:
1. <script type="text/javascript">
2. <!--
3.
4. function loadIframe(){
5. if (location.search.length > 0){
6. url = unescape(location.search.substring(1))
7.
8. window.frames["main"].location=url
9. }
10. }
11.
12. onload=loadIframe
13. //-->
14. </script>
15.
16. <a href="mainpage.html?about.htm"</a>
So basically when I click on Link1 on Page1 it takes me to Page2 with iFrame1 with a page loaded and iFrame2 with nothing loaded whereas I would like Link1 on Page1 to load up Page 2 with two different pages loaded in the iFrames all at the same time.
I have a site built in CI and I have integrated a js/jq image slider into the index page. I linked all the files to the correct places but for some reason the js isnt working? Some of the fonts in the slider are controlled by js files, and they are displaying correctly, so i know the files are linked ok, but for some reason its not grabbing the code to control the slider. I am not sure if its something to do with the file structure used in ci? Is there something I need to be adding in any config files to make js work in ci? I also tried nivo slider and had similar results. and ive had no luck at all finding a slider built for use in ci....
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy project is stated in the title, I want to let users who want to see my portfolio click on a button and the portfolio page slide over my index page. Ex. at www.visumdesignz.com over to the left is a button that says portfolio. when you click on it an extruder pops out, I used the extruder for another function, I decided I didn't want that function, but it gave me this idea. I want the extruder to slide over all of the content.
I noticed the facebook app has a similar function to what I am looking for, take a look at it, when you are looking at your dashboard the news feed slides off to the side, that's a similar idea, even though this isn't mobile, you get the idea, at least I hope.
I am trying to get the index of a li with a specific class. I know I'm selecting the right object because I can apply a CSS class to it (eg change border colour) but when I try to get the index it returns -1. But I know the object exists as I can alter it. :-s
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
var active = $("#tertiarynavigation .bordered").get(0);
var num = $("#tertiarynavigation li").index(active);
alert("Index: " + num);

I am trying to load a different index.html page for each different screen size that the browser has. So the page looks best at different resolutions.I am not really able to test it since I haven't finished building all the different resolution index pages yet. I am just wondering if anyone sees any glaring errors in my coding.This is my script:
<script src="javascript/stndlibrary.js">
var screendim=getWindowSize();
var screenwidth=screendim[0];[code]......
I can't alert the history array of the index page or use that arrays indexOf to read and write it to go back to predetermend conditional index of that array? If I could alert the history array and read the array elements then I might be able to write and go to one of the history array elements specificaly? So I might be able to use window onload to create an array that stores the classname of a div every time the divs classname is changed then go back in page history to the classname specified? code...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with layers. In my example there's a link inside div#msg with 'z-index:1' and a overlay with 'z-index:2'. Now when "mousedown" fires, will change the div#msg z-index value from 1 to 3 to be on Top, so the link become a clickable link.
The question is, it is possible to make the link on top and open it with just one click?
This example can do that but won't open the link!

I'm creating a program using Microsoft Access Data Pages.What I am trying to do is allow a user to create a hyperlink by browsing for a file location.
<INPUT style="DISPLAY: none" id=File1 type=file name=browse>
Choose File Location:<TEXTAREA id=FileLocation class=MsoTextbox name=file>
First off: I know nothing of Javascript (or much of any coding really), but I expect this to be simple for someone experienced, although it was (suprisingly) hard to figure out, for a lousy Googler like myself; so here I am. I have a function that generates an URL to an image, as so:
function todaysDate() {
var currentTime = new Date()
var month = currentTime.getMonth() + 1
var day = currentTime.getDate()
window.location.href = "http://www.ecample.com/generator.aspx?format=png&month="+month+
"&day="+day+"&width=320&height=480"
}
I get the image displayed fine in a new window, but I need it to open in a <div> or object, iframe, something I can place under my <div>-based header, when a button is pressed from my menu.
