I'm working on a DHTML Client side app (runs on the local system) which needs to query a list of files in a particular directory. I know how to read files in from the local files system. And i found what i think is the relevent code from the Mozilla Development Center, however...i'm uncertain how to put the code together. One of my goals is to write a File-Manager in DHTML which can be used on the local file system :) Moz Dev page: [URL] here's the code snipped for reading in a list of files:
// file is the given directory (nsIFile)
var entries = file.directoryEntries;
var array = [];
while(entries.hasMoreElements())
{
var entry = entries.getNext();

I have a menu that is made from a ul element (with li children).
Here is an example:
< ul id="menu" > < li><a href="#divEntire2">Home Page</a></li>
[Code].....
However, if I do something like $(this).css('background-color','maroon'), the text and a section of bar under it does turn maroon. This happens even I just click on the bar.
In Classic ASP, create a For to enumerate various fields, which perform multiple operations in a JavaScript script, my question is:According to the line that the user selected, run this script
I am looking for a way to select a file from a list and load it into a webpage. The page and the files are stored on a sd-card for off-line usage, I know that listing files remote dynamicly needs a scripting engine but since the sd-card is on the client side that is not possible, but I can make a list of those files when creating them.
It is intended for a datalogger on a tractor-puller, I create csv files with a bash script on the logger and for off-line viewing I use a javascript charting engine which loads the csv file, the files have the creation date as filename and I can make (and maintain) a list of files when creating them. The plan is that the we can select another data set (run) from within the browser and show that one. I have setup an example at [URL]
If I switch the w3schools' file with the same local file, it will not work with firefox.Does anybody know why the local file is not displayed correctly?
This is part of a demo I'm doing in class of forms and using Javascript to validate. What's supposed to happen is this: when the user selects a choice, it's displayed in the field. If the user selects the right choice (Optimus Prime in this case) then a pop-up says "You win." The code works in Firefox but not in IE.
Form: Code: <form name="form3" onChange="javascript:checkChoice();"> Who is the coolest Transformer? <select name="tf" size="1"> <option selected>Choose <option value="Optimus Prime">Optimus Prime <option value="Megatron">Megatron <option value="Bumblebee">Bumblebee <option value="Starscream">Starscream </select> <br><br>You chose <input type="text" name="output3" value="" size=20 readonly> </form> checkChoice() function:
Code: function checkChoice() { var choice = document.form3.tf.selectedIndex; document.form3.output3.value = document.form3.tf.options[choice].value; checkData3(); } checkData3() function:
I have a script which allows me to mouse click and extract x,y, coordinates. My problem is creating a list of multiple coordinates to copy and paste into a text file. The ideal would be to interactively choose points of which x,y coordinates to collect and directly write them to a text file. I understand that would require javascript (client side) and php or something (server side). Is that right? Code:
I'm building a home page with an update checker. A function, called 500 millisecs after the page loads, appends an external .js file and compares a variable on it to a different internal variable. If the internal variable is lower than the external variable, then the update prompt is displayed.
This all works fine, but the status bar says "Read www.primedesigning.com" (the site with the external js), or sometimes "Transferring from www.primedesigning.com". But, if I hover over any link, the status bar goes back to "Done". Also, if I leave my mouse still, wait for the update prompt to appear, and then move the mouse, the status bar says "Done".
I have the Fasterfox extension installed, and it confirms what the status bar is saying. It never stops loading unless I do 1 of the 2 solutions mentioned above.code...
I'm attempting to display a list of email addresses from a text file (one address per line) in measured increments, such as one email address per second. sorry, I don't know where to begin on this.Basically I want to use this to "simulate" the appearance of being able to view the real-time send to a series of email addresses. I'm using the PHP mail() funtion to send to the looped list of email addresses, pulled from a text file.It would be great to view the actual realtime send to each address as it occurs in the mail loop, but this simulation will suffice.
A pgn-file is a plain text file. It's used for chessgames.I want Firefox 1.5.0.12 on Win XP SP2 to show the pgn-file in a frame when I click on the link.That's the first problem: Since I installed some years ago some chessprogram Firefox always asks what to do with a .pgn-file (Download dialog).I know I can change this behaviour either in config:about or in some configuration file for mime types.But how to do that??? (There are extensions for that, but only for Firefox 2 and higher. ): And I would prefer to change it via the about:config-file or in the mime-configuration file, some .rdf-file I think.Then I want to access the plain text in that frame with javascript. How could I do that?(If you need a pgn-file to test, just take any text-file and rename the ending to .pgn.)
I recently upgraded to jQuery 1.4 from 1.2.x and have found that the following code, which previously worked across all browsers, no longer works seamlessly in Internet Explorer:
In Firefox, this code continues to work like it did prior to 1.4, namely, as soon as the user picks a file, the change event fires. But in IE 7 (the only IE I've tested it in) the change event no longer fires, unless/until I click inside the browser window after choosing my file. I'm guessing it has something to do with the event not firing until something (not sure what... maybe the page itself?) gets focus.
Is this known/expected behavior with 1.4? If so, does anyone know how I can work around it to make 1.4 behave like 1.2.x did, where IE's change event will fire immediately after the file is picked without an extra click in the window?
My professor asked us to make a webpage that has a user register and login in via a xml document. We can omly use html, javascrip and css.I made a function that loads users from an xml file and authenticates them. It works only on firefox and not IE. This is a problem because i am using ActiveXobject to write to the file.Here is my function that loads xml:
I'm posting this here because I think JavaScript is probably the only way to do it, but if anyone can point me elsewhere, that's fine.
In a bespoke CMS (not a publicly accessible application), I need to let my user upload files that are beyond the server's file upload size for http. I can use PHP to do this via ftp, but to do so I need the full path to the source file, which I could then pass in a hidden field. However, the value of the file input field only returns the filename, not the full path. I understand that this is for security reasons, but is there any way round it?
I've tried jumping through all manner of hoops to try and select the text in the field - which does show the full path of the browsed file - in order to put it in the hidden field, but so far I've failed. And I must do this in FF3 for various reasons.
in the above i'm getting the following error: "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (c) isnt associated with any program"
I have a <input type = file> button for uploading a file in my php page. As soon as i select a file from the button, i need the file data to be displayed so that i check whether the file selected has the correct data. How can i do this.
I have a table that has parts with multiple characteristics. Part Number, Height, Width, Capacity, Price, Etc. I would like to have a drop downs for all of these values, when a user selects one of these values it will filter the results into a list. Ex. user selects a part that has a Height of 6 and width of 10 it will only list those parts. As I said earlier, I have a script that will give me all the parts, however I am not able to make the onchange list parts with multiple values.
I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.
