JQuery :: Use Plugins Dynamically - Make The List Dynamically Calling A JSON File ?
Oct 1, 2010
I am using the Collapsible Checkbox Tree jquery Plugin.For that I have inserted this linein the javascrypt code:
When I make a list in the HTML code using the <ul id="example"> works perfectly.
But when I tried to make the list dynamically calling a JSON file, does not works fine.
If I insert theready(fn) mentioned above inside the javascrypt function that create dynamically the element<ul >as is shown next:
Improves a little bit, but still does not work fine. Specifically does not show the plus and minus sign, then I can not open or collapse it.
I tried also with thecheckboxtree pluginand I encountered the same problem.

I have a snippet of code that is brought into the DOM via a .load() call

<script type="text/javascript">
function foo()

PS> The actual implementation is more complicated. This is the boiled down version of the problem.

I'm building all my forms dinamically, calling a web service that returns me the field type, description and a set of rules for validation, all in JSON format. No matter how hard I tried, calling rules("add", ...) after adding the control to DOM does not work since I don't get the right format for the rules. Has anyone tried doing that (returning the rules with JSON and adding to a dynamic control)?
The rules come this way:
data.d[0].ItemRules
minlength:2
required:true

which works once the page hasn't been loaded using.load $(".toggle_cat_container").hide(); How do I adapt it to work when the page is loaded with .load? I am familiar with needing to use .live on click functions.
i.e.
$("a[id^='mydiv']").click(function(e) {
needing to be changed to:
$("a[id^='mydiv]").live('click', function(e) {
My problem is that $(".toggle_cat_container").hide(); would trigger when the document was ready but when its loaded it won't trigger. What adaptation do I need? I suspect something similar to the below - just not getting it right $(".toggle_cat_container").live('onLoad', function(e) {

Is there a way to know when a function is available for me to call it
from a dynamically loaded a javascript?
I use this code to load the include.js file and then I call
testIncludeFn() from it:
<code>
var html_doc = document.getElementsByTagName('head').item(0);
var file = document.createElement('script');
file.setAttribute('language','javascript');
file.setAttribute('type','text/javascript');
file.setAttribute('src','/include.js');
html_doc.appendChild(file);
// here I would like to be able to wait for the script to become
available
testIncludeFn();
</code>
It works in IE and sometimes I get it to work in FF 1.5, but I would
like to have a way of reliably calling testIncludeFn().
Can I pool somehow the DOM to see if the load completed. How?

I have two javascript files that execute some code. One is a default file loaded on all pages that executes some jquery for some bells and whistles for basic interactivity :
default_jquery.js
Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
function make_fancy(){
//make tables look nice
//make hover look nice
//etc
//etc
}
make_fancy();
});
It works great. However, one of my pages updates a database via ajax and then rewrites and redisplays the updated table on a successful ajax return. For example, if someone adds something to their shopping cart, ajax queries the database, updates an entry, and then rebuilds the shopping cart to reflect the new item or quantity. The problem I was having was that after the rewrite of the table, I was losing the formatting that the above jquery file was implementing. So I just added the same jquery statements above to the success indicator of the ajax.
My ajax looks something like this:
buy_item.js
Code:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "../buy_item.php",
data: "item="+item+"&quantity="+quantity,
success: function(resp){
//redraw table .....
This works fine, and reapplies the styles after the table has been redrawn. However, I don't like to have the same jquery statements in this file as I do in the standard jquery file above. So I just want to use a function. So on this buy_item.js page, I'm trying to call the make_fancy() function in the default_jquery.js file, but it doesn't work. I'm told that the make_fancy() function is not defined. I've tried including the default_jquery.js file which contains the make_fancy function before the buy_item.js file that calls it, but that doesn't work for some reason.
What I want is this for the buy_item.js page:
Code:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "../buy_item.php",
data: "item="+item+"&quantity="+quantity,
success: function(resp){
//redraw table
make_fancy();
},
error: function(e){
alert('You suck at this');
}});
}//function

I'm trying to dynamically create and remove items from a list, it works just fine. Sort of, I can remove items, and create items, but once an item has been created, I cannot remove it again, but I can remove the items present when the page loads.
Here is my code
<div class="list">
<div class="item">
<input type="text" value="" /> <a href="" class="removeitem">Remove this item</a>
</div><div class="item">
<input type="text" value="" /> <a href="" class="removeitem">Remove this item</a>
</div><a href="" class="additem">Add item to list</a>
</div><script type="text/javascript">
// Add item to list
$('.additem').click(function(){
var template = $($(this).prev().get(0)).clone();
template.insertBefore($(this));
return false;
});
// Remove item from list
$('.removeitem').click(function(){
$(this).prev().parent().remove();
return false;
});
</script>
I can remove the 2 original items, but when I create new ones, they cannot be removed.

I have 2 drop down list that are populated through mysql. They both contain data upon initial page load. However when you select an option from drop down #1 it populates drop down 2 with data associated to it. Sometimes the 2nd drop down list has selected data already and I need it to be cleared back to the first option when the first drop down is selected.
the following code is what I use to populate the second drop down
$.ajax
({
type: "POST",
data: "company=" + $(this).val(),

I'm trying to create an unordered list dynamically and then turn it into jQuery UI tabs... I think I'm having problem with syntax here, I managed to create the list and turn it into the widget, but those tabs don't look right, they have the outline of the widget but the content doesn't have actual tabs, so my guess is it only 'kind of worked'
$
(
"#doc3"
).
append
[Code].....
is this the way to do it? (for now its just the test, eventually i want to use for loop to create the list and pull data from an array)

At this point I have been able to add the row. But what I want to do and am having trouble with is alternating the row colour to the dynamically added row element.
Sample of code I am using:
Code:
var tbody = document.getElementById('tableItems');
var row = document.createElement("tr");
var remainder = tbody.rows.length % 2;
if(remainder) {
row.setAttribute("class", "rowLightGreen");
}
var td1 = document.createElement("td");
td1.appendChild(document.createTextNode(qty));
td1.setAttribute("class","qty");
row.appendChild(td1);
tbody.appendChild(row);
One thing that puzzles me, is that even after adding a row the table my table.rows.length still = 0.
Does anyone know how I can determine the appropriate amount of rows so that I can apply the appropriate class?
Or is there just something blatantly wrong in my approach?

I've been playing around with the jDigiclock weather+time script from [URL] the only problem with this awesome script is that it get the location of the user from the static input directly from the script. How can I access the users locale and feed it into the variable that deals with showing the weather of the users location? If i just knew how to get access to dynamic information like that I'm sure I would be able to figure out how to get the script to load in the data dynamically.

I've got a javascript object is "is" that has dynamically populated properties. I make an ajax call to my database to grab usernames associated with unique ID's and populate the javascript. I can call a property directly like this: aler (is.softUser1) or alert(is.softUser2) and show the corresponding values. However since what is being returned from the database is dynamic I may need to call is.softUser5 or is.softUser8 so I need to do that call dynamically. code...
and that obviously doesn't work.
Is there a way that I can dynamically call that property based on whatever value "user" is?

I would like to create in my site a picture that when a user clicks on
it, a javascript code which determines which file is to be downloaded
to the user, is ran.
My problem is that I do not know how to make the file that was chosen
by the javascript code to be downloaded to the user.
I know how to do it statically (using anchor) what I'm looking for is
how to do it dynamically.

I'm trying to dynamically load javascript from a file with a click handler.
The code is for a class function.
I'm instantiating an instance of the class from the click handler.
It doesn't work the first time I call the "constructor" function, but it does work the second time.
If I put in a call to the "alert" method, it works the first time.
From this, it would be logical to conclude that the code being loaded isn't being given time enough to load and be implanted within the DOM structure for the page.
How can I get the click handler to wait for the code to get established?
What follows is the code for the method that inserts the tag to load the javascript:
Code:
function load_js_code_from_file (js_code_file)
{
var form_ref = document.getElementById ("theForm1");
var new_js_node = document.createElement ("script");
[Code]....

I am trying to make it where someone can upload a .csv file, and I want to allow them to add multiple ones if they need more than the two that are already there.
What I did was add a div field:
Code:
<div id="fields" style="display: none;">
<p><label>File Field:</label><br /><input type=file name=file size=45 class=formfield /></p>
[Code].....
The problem with that is once they choose a file or two on those first two, then click the add a new field, it does add the new field so it works, but then the files they chose are gone, so now they have to rechoose them. every time.
