Change The Hidden Field Value For One Of The Buttons When It Is Clicked
Apr 14, 2011
Here is some sample code from my html page:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function setProperties(formElement)
{
formElement.form.elements["customerID"].value=1;
alert(formElement.form.elements["customerID"].value);
}
</script>
There are two submit buttons and I would like to change the hidden field value for one of the buttons when it is clicked. I have tried various ways to assign a value to the hidden field in the javascript but none of them works including the above. I have tried "formElement.form.customerID.value", "formElement.form.getElementById "customerID"); etc but it does not work. What is the right way of assigning the hidden field value in javascript.

[URL]. Users fill in a form which has items of furniture, so they enter a number next to each item of furniture. The HTML uses text fields. When the form is submitted, the form is submitted to a php script that emails the results to myself. I am trying to also have a javascript function which runs before the php script runs. This javascript works out the cubic footage of all the items. If a user put "3" in the sofa text field, and I have defined that a sofa is 45 cubic feet, then the javascript will multiply 3 * 45. It will do a similar thing for all items of furniture, then add them all up to give a total cubic feet. I want that total field to then sent as a variable to the php script, along with all the other variables.
My code so far (which doesn't work)
<script language="JavaScript">
function calculate(){
var sofa_3_seater = document.getElementById('sofa_3_seater').value*45;
var sofa_2_seater = document.getElementByID('sofa_2_seater').value*30;
var armchair_large = document.getElementByID('armchair_large').value*15;
var total=sofa_3_seater+sofa_2_seater+armchair_large;
document.getElementByID('total').value = total;
}</script>
I have used a hidden field for the total value:
<input type="hidden" name="total" value="">
I want the javascript result to change the value of the hidden field that is called total. Then I want it all to be posted to the PHP script and email everything to me, including this newly calculated total field!

I have a JavaScript function for swapping the values of rows in a table. I have a hidden field in each row to carry a record ID. As I switch the rows the function will update the hidden field but doesn't do it correctly if I switch a number of rows. I dynamically set the values to switch when the page loads but how can I change these values when the rows are moved.The idea is to change the order of a recordset by clicking on an up or down arrow and then save the values on the record id and sort order, the two hidden fields in each row.
function swapCells(idA,idB,id1,id2)
{
var cellA=document.getElementById('menu'+idA);

What happens is the user selects the number of buttons depending on the number entered in the text box. If the number is 3 in the text box, then the user can only select 3 buttons, if more buttons are selected then it comes with an alert message saying user is beyond limit deselect a button to be able to choose another button.
But these are the problems I have encounted: If I type in "2" in the textbox for example, it allows me to select 2 buttons and comes up with alert if more buttons clicked.
problem 1: but if I change the figure in text box from "2" to "5", then it only allows me to select 3 buttons (I think it is adding 2 from the previous value and 3 to make the current value 5)
problem 2: If I enter a value less than current value, so in this example if I enter in 1 in the textbox which is obviously less than 2, then it lets the user select unlimited number of buttons.
So does anyone know how to fix these problems so that the amount of buttons selected matches correctly to the value in the textbox?

I'm trying to create a questionnaire style series of radio buttons which are hidden and then a different set of radio buttons displayed depending on the previous answer. eg
Q1 Is it a man? (if select yes then display)
Q2 Is he called John? (if no then display)
Q3 Is he called Gary? and so on...
I've been testing using the code below but wondered if anyone had any ideas on how this could be done easily?

I just don't see any possibility to change the height of a button. I am developing an application to list many articles. The height of the collapsible buttons/select buttons is therefore to large, i want the buttons to be as small as possible.

I have created a html purchase request form that people will fill out and submit to make purchase requests within my company. In this html form, I have a text field that is automatically populated when the page is pulled up. The text field is populated with the name of the person who is logged in and it is read only so they cannot be deceitful or anything.To get to this HTML Request form, you must log in through a webclient thus the server knows to populate your name because you are the one logged in. The text field populates because of its <input NAME = "OBProperty_CurrentUserRealName", which is a keyword the program identifies and knows to populate with the logged in users name into that particular text field.
That works all fine and dandy, so here is where the problem lies. When submitting the overall form request, the populated name isnt being saved/ carried over to the admin page so we do not know who it was submitted by.To make the persons name carry over and save, another field name keyword must be used.
Which is OBKey__163_1. Which it was suggested to me to make that the input name of a hidden field. I need "text field A" to continue to populate the form with the persons name using OBKey_CurrentUserRealName, then pass the persons name off to a hidden field containing the input name=OBKey__164_1, which will thus save/pass the persons name on with the rest of the filled out request form when its submitted.
Here is what I have:
<input name="OBProperty_CurrentUserRealName" type="text" id="buyer" style="width:100%" readonly="readonly">
<input name="OBKey__163_1" type="hidden" id="OBKey__163_1">

I have a page with a div that is hidden until clicked on, and can be hidden if clicked on again (at least that is the goal).
The html looks like:
HTML Code:
I currently have the following javascript:
Code:
My goal being to click on the main <div> and show the content in the <span> and change the image, and then clicking again returns it to it's original (hidden) state. I have been able to successfully show the <div> but can't get it to hide again. And when troubleshooting it using Firebug it shows that clicking on the <div> is simply removing the class that hides it, leaving no class, and definately not replacing it like I am trying to do. Any ideas why the second click is not producing ANY results? Also, if I get it working I have thought that by making the entire <div> have the onClick handler if someone tries to click inside the unhidden <span> (for links or to click in a search box) would result in hiding the <span> rather than following the link or focusing on the input box. Is there any possibility for that?
The main reason handled the <div> is because there will be multiple sections that I would like to reuse the function on, and creating an id for the <div> and then referencing this.id was the first way I was able to get the functionality that I currently have.

I currently have some buttons representing letters and a textbox. When a button is clicked, its value is copied into the text box. I have an onkeyup event which means that every time a button is clicked, a function is called which searches some arrays using the current text box value.
However, the problem I am currently having is that the onkeyup event which calls the function works if I type the value in using my computer keyboard, but not when using the buttons (even though the buttons enter values into the textbox).
How I can make it so that when I press a button, the onkeyup event triggers and the function is called?

so I have a form page for a cart to checkout, on the first page, I am using the form action get and the page to pass the variables in the url to...
on the next page, I have grabbing some of them using the document.indexOf function...works great just using document.write(what is returned from the indexOf function); obviously, this just outputs the value in text, however, I need to set the value of a specific hidden field on the same page/form to that of what is returned by what I described above:

So, instead of showing the value of i++ it is showing <script>i++</script>
What I want it to show:

It works in the regular page, just not when I make it the value of the hidden form field. Sorry, kinda new to javascript.

I am currently working on a small Ajax image upload script using some clever iframes, php and a lytebox to create a seamless application. a small link on a page starts my lytebox that essentially opens a new page inside this. this page takes a file upload and using an iframe posts to a php script that will validate the file and upload to the server, the location of this file is then posted back to the iframe for viewing. Once this completes I have a cropping tool available for users to make final adjustments to their image before saving this and sending the new cropped image location to a value of a hidden text box. Once the user is happy with this they can click close to return to the parent page, upon doing this the value of the hidden filed is passed back to parent page and saved into another hidden filed to use. ( To clarify, i use hidden values as the parent page is the actual upload script.
My lytebox version was created to allow usability for users to re-size and crop their image before upload, all this happens in the lytebox to appear like its just a cropping tool.) Its at this point I am having some difficulty. I want to alert the user that the upload has been successful and all that is required is the user to hit save. This was ultimately save the finished image with all the users date in the database. I thought I could use an onchange event to trigger a function that would insert text into a div but this wont work. My code for the parent page and the hidden field is:-

I saw this on a website, and I'm confused as to what the possible purpose could be for this.
Code:
<input id="myIDNAME" name="myIDNAME" type="hidden" value="0" />
<input id="myIDNAME" name="myIDNAME" type="checkbox" value="0" />
I thought repeating an ID would return an error.
