I need to get the page to reload with the anchor in the link when it is clicked in a dropdown menu. For example if I am on 'www.domain.com/about/#2' and I then click on 'www.domain.com/about/#3' the url changes but the page doesn't reload so I need the page to reload, but keep the new anchor (#3).I gave the links with anchors a class of 'reload' and tried this:
$('a.reload').click(function() {
window.location.reload();
});

I have an imagemap that I am using to collect user ratings (the image is of a gradient, and the more to the right they click, the higher the rating). I want to essentially keep the same functionality with a small addition:
I want a slider image to display under the user's mouse when the user is hovering over the imagemap, and I want it to move horizontall whenever the user's mouse moves over the imagemap. This would make the imagemap look like a slider, except the user would still be able to instantly rate without needing to drag a slider (it would simply follow his/her mouse).
I'm not very familiar with JavaScript, though. If anyone could give me an idea how to write something like this or possibly write some sample code, I would be very grateful. I imagine that something like this is very simple (i.e. just taking the user's horizontal mouse coordinates and overlaying an image), but I really do need help writing it. I don't want to sound lazy, but the project I'm working on has more to do with server-side programming, so it wouldn't be a good idea for me to spend a few days learning all about JavaScript in order to accomplish this small bit of functionality.

I need to build a slider. which is not there in the page when it loads. then after few seconds it appears and slides from the right hand side of the window and stops at some position on the screen. then after few seconds it changes its image into another one. each and every one of the images has a different displaying time. that time is a database data and i have to specify it accordingly... I have no idea how to do this and i am a newbie to javascript. i don't know whether javascript can do this, maybe another technology..

I have created a page using collapsible divs through a simple javascript toggle. This is the javascript:
Code:
<script language="javascript">
function getItem(id)
{
[Code]....
This page is a class listing and each toggle bar is a class category. What I want to do is be able to link from another page to the class page, but to a specific class listing within the hidden div section.
The actual page is: [URL]
note that I am working within the confines of a content management system.
I need something like: go to the page, do the toggle function to show the div, then find a page anchor to locate the correct class.

Sorry I am new to JavaScript.
Says that a.html has two same anchor links (<a href="b.html">b</a>). The anchor links are uneditable but we could add JavaScript to the a.html.
Except for dynamic adding onclick event, any other ways could get to know which anchor link being clicked?

I basically have many anchor links where when I click each of them it slidesdown its own div with some text in it. So have I wanted is when I click on one link it will show me the current one and hide the others. This is what I have tried which works great but when I click on a link it opens the div, then click on another one opens the div with one click and when I go back to re-click the previous link I have to double click it in order to work..
This is my js code:
$(".anchorlink").toggle(
function() {
var cont_val = $(this).attr("id");
$("div#unique_anchor_text", this).show();
$("div#unique_anchor_text").hide();
$('.unique_anchor_text'+cont_val).slideDown("fast");
},
function() {
var cont_val = $(this).attr("id");
$('.unique_anchor_text'+cont_val).hide();
});
HTML looks like:
<a class='anchorlink' id='$item'>Comment</a>
<div id='unique_anchor_text' class='unique_anchor_text$item'>some text</div>

I've tried "function('this')" and similar things, but it doesn't work. I'm sure this is REALLY easy to do, but I don't know it and I have no idea what to search for.

I have a hidden iFrame (display:none) which I change the src attribute of to load new contents. When the iFrame has finished loading I make it visible again (display:inline). This works fine except for anchors. The iFrame will not jump to an anchor when finished loading if its hidden in FF.

I recently had a request from a client and I'm not entirely sure this is possible. I'll try to explain it the best I can, as I can't share the development files yet...
We have a page with an image map of the United States. If anyone clicks on a state, it will bring them to a new
page. This new page contains a table that has named anchors on it, each row being a different state.
So, for example, if someone clicks on South Carolina on the map page, they will be brought here[code]...
The #sc anchor will scroll the new page down to the row in the table about South Carolina.
Is there any way to highlight the table row that the person is looking for? For example, if they click on South Carolina, they will be brought to this new page and the South Carolina row in the table would be highlighted.

1) I have a series of divs embedded into a page, sort of like an FAQ setup. Each has a unique id like id="service1" etc.
2) i'm using an unordered list with each li being a hyperlink to the div id's
3) the div's are set up as name anchors ( <a name="service1">Service One</a. ) so I can hyperlink to them via the <a href="#service1">Service One</a> method
4) There's 22 divs and they need to be hidden until summoned. Therefore, I set $('.service').hide(); to make them all disappear.
Now, where i'm stuck is in how to summon them individually and have them appear when the appropriate list hyperlink is clicked. I'm using:
$('.servicelist a').click(function() {
var toLoad = $(this).attr('href');
}
So it's telling it to load the info found at the appropriate link. This is where i'm stuck. I need help on
1) how to 'unhide' the proper div id containing the related data
2) how to point it to the right location in the page (target div)

The content of my webpage is all contained in hidden divs. These divs are shown when a link in the nav bar is clicked. At the moment, ALL divs are hidden on page load, only the nav bar is visible. Is there a way to have one of the divs visable when the page loads? i.e the 'home' page.
function init(){
if(document.getElementById && document.createTextNode){
var mn=document.getElementById('nav');
var as=mn.getElementsByTagName('a');
for (var i=0;i<as.length;i++){
as[i]. false}
as[i]. false}
}
hidem();
}}
function show(l){
hidem();
var id=l.href.match(/#(w.+)/)[1];
document.getElementById(id).style.display='block'
}
function hidem(){
for (var i=0;i<document.getElementsByTagName('div').length;i++){
document.getElementsByTagName('div')[i].style.display='none'
}}
The function init() is called on page load.

I have a page with a div that is hidden until clicked on, and can be hidden if clicked on again (at least that is the goal).
The html looks like:
HTML Code:
I currently have the following javascript:
Code:
My goal being to click on the main <div> and show the content in the <span> and change the image, and then clicking again returns it to it's original (hidden) state. I have been able to successfully show the <div> but can't get it to hide again. And when troubleshooting it using Firebug it shows that clicking on the <div> is simply removing the class that hides it, leaving no class, and definately not replacing it like I am trying to do. Any ideas why the second click is not producing ANY results? Also, if I get it working I have thought that by making the entire <div> have the onClick handler if someone tries to click inside the unhidden <span> (for links or to click in a search box) would result in hiding the <span> rather than following the link or focusing on the input box. Is there any possibility for that?
The main reason handled the <div> is because there will be multiple sections that I would like to reuse the function on, and creating an id for the <div> and then referencing this.id was the first way I was able to get the functionality that I currently have.

Here is some sample code from my html page:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function setProperties(formElement)
{
formElement.form.elements["customerID"].value=1;
alert(formElement.form.elements["customerID"].value);
}
</script>
There are two submit buttons and I would like to change the hidden field value for one of the buttons when it is clicked. I have tried various ways to assign a value to the hidden field in the javascript but none of them works including the above. I have tried "formElement.form.customerID.value", "formElement.form.getElementById "customerID"); etc but it does not work. What is the right way of assigning the hidden field value in javascript.

I'm having problems displaying images on a site. Basically I have a to change an image each time a button is pressed on a piece of hardware. This is the code to detect a button press
// Check Button
tstileo = new Image();
tstilec = new Image();
tstileo.src = '/images/1.jpg';
tstilec.src = '/images/2.jpg';
document.getElementById('btn0').innerHTML = (getXMLValue(xmlData, 'btn0') == 'up') ? document.Image=(tstileo): document.Image=(tstilec);
So when the button is pressed/unpressed it should display tstileo and tstilec What format should my HTML code be to display the image ? This is whats there at the moment
<span id="btn0">?</span></p>
When running all I get is text saying [OBJECT HTMLImageElement] This site is being hosted on a microchip, btn0 is a press button switch on the board. The idea is to use this as a remote monitoring system. It runs Javascript XML HTML and CSS. I have spent hours searching for a way to do this ( simple ? ) task but haven't got any further than this. :confused:
