JQuery :: Page Load Jumps To Top When Ajax Gets Data / Resolve This?
Feb 18, 2011
I have a section at the bottom of one of my pages that gets data that can be further filtered by weeks. Users can click on any of the weeks to see the data that applies only to that week. This works just fine, but when the function finishes and replaces the html content of the div, the page jumps to the top so that the user has to scroll back down to see the results. I'd like to avoid that. [code]...
It's nothing terribly complicated. The 'weekSelection' links are disabled until a stakeholder is chosen, then they're good to go. The weird bit at the url variable is just some ASP.NET MVC stuff. The StakeholderForecasting div gets its contents replaced and all will be good as soon as I can maintain the page's position.
When my page loads, it automatically jumps down as if it were jumping to a named anchor. It's more apparent on longer pages (doesn't replicate if page fills screen). Happening in Win FF/IE/Chrome Disabling stylish-select.js (from [URL] where he used to allow comments but not anymore) fixes it, but I don't know enough Javascript to debug, Good example at [URL] Script is at [URL]
I am developping an interface that allows to manage bookings for a selected week. You can add, delete, view a booking. When you open a client's booking, I could fetch the id from some div, call an ajax request, and load the booking's data in some dialog (client's data, booking info (date, hour, description, ..)). I don't wish to forward the manager to another page (another request).
But another option, would be to load all the client's data of the selected week (may be up to 100) into a hidden div, and when the manager wants to view a booking, I may just fetch the data from that hidden div. It's much faster, there's no ajax. However, the problems is that there will be a lot of HTML, and I guess the page will be slower to parse; I need a (very) fast page rendering (it's already pretty loaded as it's an application). A solution would be to load asynchronously that data in the hidden div, so the page may render fast, but I don't know how to achieve this. No server request (ajax) is needed as I have the data, but don't want to put it directly into the page, it will slow it down, but to insert the data after the page rendering. Like an ajax without server request ...
Is it possible to use a .load or a .post or some other method to send a request to the server to update a page based on passed data and to return the updated html section and also to return an XML data structure back to the callback function in the .load method?I would assume at that point the load would load the #div section of the document to the target. If it is possible to send XML data also, how would I structure that and how would I send it and access it in jQuery or javascript?
What I want to do is update one section of the page with new html and then make some changes to another section using jQuery or javascript based on the XML data. Both changes are based on the data passed in the initial .load request so having to do it twice is redundant.
So here is my problem...I've been banging my head against the wall for days with this one.How do you send data through the URL to be handled by a script in page.html, where page.html processes the data and dynamically displays the data in a modal. I can get the script to execute without trying to display in a modal, but as soon as I attempt to display in a modal, all I get is the static HTML without the jquery dynamic html.I know some code should be given, but if anyone could just walk me through the logic of why static html might be shown but not the dynamic, I think i can figure it out.
var browser = navigator.appName; var b_version=navigator.appVersion; var version = parseFloat(b_version); var xmlDoc; IE 5 and IE 6 if (browser=="Microsoft Internet Explorer"){ xmlObj=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlObj.async="false"; xmlObj.load("tourList.xml"); xmlDoc=xmlObj.documentElement; .....
I am keeping all the data of the markers in this XML file, I am dynamically loading the map information using AJAX from the XML file. Now what I want to do is to have a combo box, populate all the names of the combo box and when a specific location is selected the map will pan to the selected marker. Now the place I am stuck is that I cannot get the data names in the XML file to load into the marker. Basically I have tried various methods I searched on the internet that would be the last one I checked [URL]. Another one is that I used this line: document.getElementById("tourName").options[k] = new Option(tourLocations[k][0]); And some other methods also.
My prob is that the huge amount of data (15MB of XML) that is loaded by an AJAX call, literally locks the browser while loading it into the DOM. Does any of you know if there is a way to prevent that. Btw - As you see I use jQuery and the ajaxManager plugin.
i want to load my entire front page with jquery, after a button is hit. Something like redirect to front-page.
I've already got the handler on the button, that executes document.location.href = '/index.php' Its working, but i'd like to make its behave like(pseudocode): $.ajax('/index.php') or: $.load('/index.php')
Is that possible, and if it is, how can i do that?
Using AJAX to load content within a div. Need to find a way to scroll to the top of the page after loading content inside div on same page. After clicking on my bottom links, loading the html inside the div, I want the the parent window to scroll up to the top. scrollTo did not work.
If i have two web pages, say A and B. If I use ajax to load A into a div located within B what would this do considering that both pages have doctype, html, head, etc.? Would this cause a problem or would I be better off parsing out the section of A that I want to include in B?
I tried to do a loading bar during the computation of the data of my google map, unfortunately without success for the moment. I use the load function serveral times but never with a google map / javascript, that's probably the problem linked to it. Here is my 2 html pages : 1- dynamicmap.html 2-googlemap.html.
For information, I worked with Django, the googlemap.html works very well when I used this "outside" the dynamicmap.html ... I tried to add the function "initialize()" as argument to load function. I am very lost about how to do. Any remarks is welcom i am still new in webdevelopment, but experimentend in classic programation.
onClick event binded on <li> tag with live() works fine. But I need to hide some tags immediately after ajax call. The jquery script is included together with some HTML code in returned HTTPrespons content data. Is it possible to do this without setting css display:none property?
The code for the pop window is: <a href="#" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('alabaster/pop1.html','alabaster','width=490,height=630')">View large image</a>
The problem I am having is that on the main content page, you scroll down, click on link to pop up (page loads) but the main parent content jumps back to the top of page, meaning you have to scroll back down to where you were.
but I need to do a beforeSend callback, to fade out the current content, wait until it is fully hidden, and only then fade in with the received ajax request. But doing this, for example, with .ajaxSend, the content loads much quicker, then fadeOut is complete.
I'm not much of a javascript developer. This is my second project using collapsing/expanding content.
Code has been simplified for display here.
The code below works, but any time someone clicks the [-] or [+] to expand or collapse rows of the table, the browser flips the user back to the top of the page. This happens in FF and IE.
I want to load data after loading related php page. i used ajax and even jquery.
jquery was not sure this is jquery code:
But this and when i was using ajax it changes data, but unfortunately, the pay now button (pay pal) was not working. curser changes but button don't work...
I am currently programming Script Adds data to the database but if i want to Shown the data that have been added Requires refresh the page to show the Data that have been added . and I do not want this method.I want to when adding data to show updates as soon as the addition of data. This can be done by Ajax , and An example of this method used Google Gmail.
I have an ajax based page, which loads content from external page (html +js) So if i have a div "update_div" being updated with external content (html+js)
Let me be more specifig
Step1: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from a.html
Step2: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from b.html
What happens to the js loaded from a.html? Is it lurking in the memory or automatically/magically removed from the browser memory? I am afraid of memory leaks, if the js is still lurking in memory, the more ajax calls made, the more js is going to be held up in memory. Unless am totally wrong; i have no idea of the mechanism happening.
I have a page with a lot of data validation on it (for a form). But the validation is not actually executed until the user hits Submit. The page loads really slow. Is there a way to control how a page loads so that, as I suspect, the validation Javascript loads after the form actually displays? I want the user to see the page/form displayed as quickly as possible while I recognize that the the page load may not be complete because its still loading the validation routines. What I can do to speed it up?
