We're using jQuery ajax quite a bit without issue. Today, however, we ran into an issue where the results of a query are not displayed.fyi... the following works fine in firefox. scenario:
1. load ajax "$("#location").load( url... )" used to retrieve results
2. using fiddler, we can see the results are returned as expected
3. results not displayed. look at the updated dom in IE8 with dev tools and the results are not put into the display area Additional info...
a. using $("#location").load( url, function(data) { alert(data); }); the alert shows the results are returned via the function call as well.
b. the #location is an empty div.. e.g. <div id="location"></div>
c. if we put some text in the div, it will be removed, by the call, but the results still will not display
d. we have removed all .show(), .hide() options
e. if we remove the ajax call and just do a $("#location").text("blah blah blah..."); the results are displayed
f. we have tried both 1.3.2 and 1.4.a1 again, every variation works just fine in firefox.t
I am building a jurisdiction calculator for issues on/off Indian reservations. I'd like the user to select 3 variables (radio buttons would also work) - whether the victim is Indian/Non, the perpetrator is Indian/Non, and whether the crime occurred On/Off a reservation and have a div that displays the possible jurisdiction outcomes based on the selections. For instance, if the user selects Victim: Non-Indian, Perp: Indian, Location: On reservation, the possible jurisdiction results would appear.
I've been given the task of building a carbon offset calculator: rolleyes:
What I need to do is have a webpage on a touchscreen kiosk that allows a visitor to the client enter their name/company/email address, plus select how they travelled to the premises and their departing post code.
When they submit the form, I need it to email the details to the client so they can produce a nice little certificate saying how many trees have been planted to offset the visitors journey - but I also need it to display the details on screen before resetting itself for the next Prius driving visitor to use.
I've got to the stage where I can EITHER capture all the details needed and email them OR capture all the details needed and calculate the distance travelled, KGs of CO2 expended and how many trees are needed and display them. I'm having difficulty getting it to do both!
I have an external JS file that generates HTML for displaying an image--it does this via a document.write. I would like to capture the HTML it writes and display the HTML in a textarea.
To better illustrate what I want, this is what I originally tried:
I'm relatively new to jQuery, and I don't understandy why the following doesn't work. Hopefully, you can enlighten me. I declared a variable: var currHive = $("#masterHive") .find("div.currentHive"); Now I want to see if the query returned the correct element id. So, I tried each of the alert messages shown below, one-at-a-time. This is the strategy I am using to verify the code; i.e. do something, then tell me what I did.
Note: I have successfully used --- alert($(this).attr('id')); --- in an experiement to tell me which button was clicked, in a statement using the .bind() method.
I found the following 'Cut & Paste Google Internal Site Search script' in the Javascriptkit.com library - it works well and provides an easy solution for adding a search function to a website - code below
<script type="text/javascript"> // Google Internal Site Search script- By JavaScriptKit.com (http://www.javascriptkit.com) // For this and over 400+ free scripts, visit JavaScript Kit- http://www.javascriptkit.com/ // This notice must stay intact for use //Enter domain of site to search. var domainroot="www.javascriptkit.com" [Code]...
I have a project to do for a kind of business directory and while I already have it designed I'm stuck on one aspect of it. As it stands, you select a category and then get the results in a nice little invisible table with colored rows. Now, I can create any table I want through the use of a hidden Javascript function that contains the information (No, I'm not worried about updates) and then creates the table.
The problem I have is this. If someone changes the category or puts in a partial name or full name, how can I delete the currently displayed results and then show only the results for the new search? And how can I do this consistently? The problem I have almost sounds like a problem that should be solved using PHP but it doesn't sound so complicated that it couldn't be done in javascript either.
I am very inexperienced with javasciprt. I am designing a form in coldfusion, and want some dynamic action to take place. My users will be offered 2 selections via radio buttons. Depending on which radio button they select, they will get a few more radio buttons to choose from. I have been told that this can be handled in javascript. So I am appealing to the javascript programmer nation for some assistance in this endeavor.
I found an article [URL] that allows a user to search Google directions from a web page. It works very well, however is it possible to have the resulting page open in a popup window?
I use php includes to display a small form on a web page. The form has only about 2 fields, and when the user hits submit I want the form to be submitted but at the same time I dont want the page to be redirected.Instead I want a small window to pop up saying thank you or whatever. To see a demonstration of what I want to do,please go to download.com ,scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see a poll. When you make a vote a new window pops up showing the results of the vote but you arent moved from download.com's homepage to any other page in the parent window. How can I acheive that?I'm using this code right now:
<script language="JavaScript"> function showpoll() { window.open('manage.php','manage','width=260,height=360,status=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=no,toolbar=no'); document.forms["form1"].submit(); } </script>
<form method="post" action="manage.php" onSubmit= "showpoll();" name="form1"> When I hit the submit button on the form a new window does pop up containing manage.php but it doesnt submit the form since manage.php doesnt give the message that its supposed to give when the form is submitted. It instead asks me to input all the fields. While the parent window is redirected to manage.php and it shows the message that its supposed to show when the form has been submitted.I hope I made myself clear.
I've got a page that lists a bunch of info in a large table. In each row is a link, and when that link is clicked on, an ajax call fires that returns detailed info on the item in that row. I usually display the html just to the right of the table, but the table has gotten too large. I need to display the info in a pop up now. The only thing is, how do I get the results of my ajax call into a pop up window? I've been having an awful time getting this to work.
I'm using JQuery to make the ajax call, what can I put in my success of complete event to create the pop up using the data the ajax call returns?
I have a question about child parent window in firefox. I have 2 pages Parent.php and child.php... user enter details in Parents.php to show the results from DB. results are displayed in child.php. I tried to put a link/button on child.php "close the window". it closes BUT it takes me to parent page. IS there anyway I can close both windows simeltaneously???
My client wants a simple quiz with the correct answers displayed if they get them wrong. I used code from somewhere on this site, but this is the first time I have ever wrote javascript. My problem is: When the scored answers are displayed in the new window, there are no spaces. How do I format the script to display text with breaks between each answer?
I need to open a new window from an existing HTML page to a site in which we do not want to show the address for. I have set the titlebar to no but it will still place the title on the titlebar Here's my function code:
function myOpen() { window.open("http:// www.somewhere.com","mywindow","location=no,titlebar=no"); }
well i have an issue with jquery and razor, but basically i want to solve the jquery problem first hehe.
[Code]...
So my problem is every time i open the modal window, its the same "name", cause in every div y pass a name in an input type="hidden" and i get that parameter from the url. but its always display the same name every time i open it.
I have a table that is written from 'display' window to 'register' window. It is a CART TABLE. It is suposed to cut down on posts to the server and is written entirley with client side javascript. There should really be ony one post to the server when the clients' order is complete and the adjustable table is posted. The cart table in 'register' window has two viewable rows and has a scrollable window in the Y plane. One fixed Header and The getElementsbyClassName works with 'sumsubtotal()' but not with 'qtymultiply()' and this might be a result of refrencing the same class 'itemrow' twice even though I've declared them localy within seperate functions, my guess is that the getElementsByClassName is global and can only refrence the class 'itemrow' once?
finding a "find on page" script that will display the results in the middle of the page for IE. I have tried several different ones to no avail. The ones that work in all the browsers display the result in IE at the very bottom of the page. I am not very familiar with programing in Java and I am unable to modify any for my needs. The one I found that did work in IE didn't work in any other browsers.
Is there a way to display the file selection window for a file input field via JavaScript? My goal is to emulate the behavior seen in Yahoo! Mail BETA. When adding an attachment, it displays a file selection window when you click a custom button/icon. I saw an example of using CSS to actually position the browse button behind an image. I am hoping that isn't the only option.
I tried to display an alert window (avoid pop up since some users blocks it and hence not displayed on onload event in body) But it is not displayed properly like popup window.
I'm currently paying for a web service on a hosted platform. Basically, I'm unable to edit any raw content, however I am able to do things like add JS/HTML to the header or footer of a page, which will in turn be displayed on every page of this platform. My dilemma is, I only want content being showed on a single page of the platform. Specifically, I want a window.alert being displayed on the "/signup" page, but all I have to work with is JS in a global footer. Is there some way I can use window.location to achieve this?
I need to display a table in a new window. when I click on a button, I got the values displayed in the same window but in a fresh page. I want the values in a new window instead of same window but in a fresh page. The below function gives the table for an array called num which is in the same htm file where are all the other functions are. As I need to use this num Array, I cannot write the code in a new file and call the url in the window.open method. Is there a way where I could write the code for the new window in the same htm file and just make the values display in a new window when I click the button. I tried window.open but that it not working. Could some one help me with this. code...
