View 6 RepliesI am looking for a JavaScript poll/survey script that meets the following
criteria:
1) Just a large number of Yes/No questions (at least 20)
2) "Repeat vote-proof"
3) "Display Results" button after survey
4) Results show shortened version of survey question with Y/N tally
If anyone could point me to a reliable script, this would be appreciated.
I am working on some travel related site, User can modify his/her search by criteria in the left bar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a newbie when it comes to PHP & JQuery. I have a small issue and was wondering if someone could help me out.
I have a PHP page which takes in the 'source' and 'destination' from the user and results the distance in a new window.
I just want the distance displayed within the same window. I have absolutely NO clue how to use Jquery or what the syntax is.[code]...
I've been given the task of building a carbon offset calculator: rolleyes:
What I need to do is have a webpage on a touchscreen kiosk that allows a visitor to the client enter their name/company/email address, plus select how they travelled to the premises and their departing post code.
When they submit the form, I need it to email the details to the client so they can produce a nice little certificate saying how many trees have been planted to offset the visitors journey - but I also need it to display the details on screen before resetting itself for the next Prius driving visitor to use.
I've got to the stage where I can EITHER capture all the details needed and email them OR capture all the details needed and calculate the distance travelled, KGs of CO2 expended and how many trees are needed and display them. I'm having difficulty getting it to do both!
I have an external JS file that generates HTML for displaying an image--it does this via a document.write. I would like to capture the HTML it writes and display the HTML in a textarea.
To better illustrate what I want, this is what I originally tried:
html4strict Code:
I'm relatively new to jQuery, and I don't understandy why the following doesn't work. Hopefully, you can enlighten me. I declared a variable: var currHive = $("#masterHive") .find("div.currentHive"); Now I want to see if the query returned the correct element id. So, I tried each of the alert messages shown below, one-at-a-time. This is the strategy I am using to verify the code; i.e. do something, then tell me what I did.
$(document).ready(function(){
var currHive = $("#masterHive") .find("div.currentHive");
alert(currHive).attr(id);/* returns object Object */
alert(currHive.id);/* returns undefined */
alert(this.id);/* returns undefined */
alert($(this).attr('id'));/* returns undefined */
});
Note: I have successfully used --- alert($(this).attr('id')); --- in an experiement to tell me which button was clicked, in a statement using the .bind() method.
I'm using BBC's glow to make an ajax post, its works fine, but I'm having trouble displaying the results, if I use:
It displays the results in a div with all the html escaped.
Does anyone know how I can display the results as html?
Code:
We're using jQuery ajax quite a bit without issue. Today, however, we ran into an issue where the results of a query are not displayed.fyi... the following works fine in firefox. scenario:
1. load ajax "$("#location").load( url... )" used to retrieve results
2. using fiddler, we can see the results are returned as expected
3. results not displayed. look at the updated dom in IE8 with dev tools and the results are not put into the display area Additional info...
a. using $("#location").load( url, function(data) { alert(data); }); the alert shows the results are returned via the function call as well.
b. the #location is an empty div.. e.g. <div id="location"></div>
c. if we put some text in the div, it will be removed, by the call, but the results still will not display
d. we have removed all .show(), .hide() options
e. if we remove the ajax call and just do a $("#location").text("blah blah blah..."); the results are displayed
f. we have tried both 1.3.2 and 1.4.a1 again, every variation works just fine in firefox.t

I have a project to do for a kind of business directory and while I already have it designed I'm stuck on one aspect of it. As it stands, you select a category and then get the results in a nice little invisible table with colored rows. Now, I can create any table I want through the use of a hidden Javascript function that contains the information (No, I'm not worried about updates) and then creates the table.
The problem I have is this. If someone changes the category or puts in a partial name or full name, how can I delete the currently displayed results and then show only the results for the new search? And how can I do this consistently? The problem I have almost sounds like a problem that should be solved using PHP but it doesn't sound so complicated that it couldn't be done in javascript either.
is it possible to create a link in an email that will go to a site and run its javascript. If so how?what I trying to do is email an alert to selected users when a flash ad is ready. The email will have a link that, when clicked, goes to the home page and displays the ad. the code above takes them to the web site but doesn't run the javascript.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a sample page with three tabs (tabs.html). Tabs are displayed as follows:
<ul class="tabs">
<li><a href="javascript:tabSwitch('tab_1', 'content_1');" id="tab_1" class="active">Tab 1</a></li>
<li><a href="javascript:tabSwitch('tab_2', 'content_2');" id="tab_2">Tab 2</a></li>
<li><a href="javascript:tabSwitch('tab_3', 'content_3');" id="tab_3">Tab 3</a></li>
</ul>
The JavaScript used to switch tabs is:
function tabSwitch(active, number, tab_prefix, content_prefix) {
for (var i = 1; i < number+1; i++) {
document.getElementById(content_prefix+i).style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById(tab_prefix+i).className = '';
}
document.getElementById(content_prefix+active).style.display = 'block';
document.getElementById(tab_prefix+active).className = 'selected';
}
Now, by default, when I link to tabs.html, the first tab is set to active. Is it possible to create a link from another site that links to tabs.html and forces the second or third tab to be active?
I am building a jurisdiction calculator for issues on/off Indian reservations. I'd like the user to select 3 variables (radio buttons would also work) - whether the victim is Indian/Non, the perpetrator is Indian/Non, and whether the crime occurred On/Off a reservation and have a div that displays the possible jurisdiction outcomes based on the selections.For instance, if the user selects Victim: Non-Indian, Perp: Indian, Location: On reservation, the possible jurisdiction results would appear.
Here is the basic html breakdown:
<select id="VictimSelector" name="VictimSelector">
<option selected="selected"></option>
<option>Indian</option>

I am very inexperienced with javasciprt. I am designing a form in coldfusion, and want some dynamic action to take place. My users will be offered 2 selections via radio buttons. Depending on which radio button they select, they will get a few more radio buttons to choose from. I have been told that this can be handled in javascript. So I am appealing to the javascript programmer nation for some assistance in this endeavor.

View 3 Replies View RelatedCan anyone point me to a good tutorial for creating a site-level
search applet? I am trying to create a virtual catalog of sorts, and
I would like to be able to search the catalog and have the results
displayed on the same page with one column text and an image of the
product. I've seen several tutorials that create site-level searches
that will bring back a search results page with options to choose
from. I am looking to create a search that does not bring back this
"results" page, but displays an image of the product instead. Given
the nature of the products, search results will only bring back one
specific item, and so, I would like to skip the "results" page
altogether. Any thoughts?
I am looking to create a horizontal parallax scrolling site. Any good tutorials or templates out there?

I am trying trying to create a site that will require a database. (much like facebook functions)
I am not new to programming, as I know Java and C++, but I am very new to the web development.
For security reasons (so I have heard), I would like to write this site in php. At the same time, I may need some client sided code. (Or do I?) I am not at all sure.
I know that facebook is written in php, and the site I am making basically has the majority of those functions.
Any inputs as to how I should go about choosing what language? As of now, my partner is learning javascript and mysql, while I am studying php and mysql.
I know that some sites implement both, javascript and php, but I was wondering if it is at all necessary to use both, and how would one know which code to write in what language.
I need to create multiple JavaScript clocks on my site based on the client location (I.e. Los Angeles, Houston, Orlando, etc). Nothing complicated... just text clocks to show the current time. With due credit to this site , I used their code as a starting point.

I'm trying to create a Youtube video inserter script for my site. Long story short, I need to be able to prototype an HTML element and add a string into the element's innerHTML, like this:

I'm currently having difficulty to debug this issue in ie7. When the page is loading, all carousel lists are exposed and content displays for a couple of seconds.
Does anyone know how it would be possible to create bar at the bottom of the browser window that doesn't reload when you navigate thru the site. A good example is the chatbox that Facebook has. When you click links throughout the site the chat box is constant and doesn't reload.
