I searched, but couldn't find answers--probably because I'm not sure what this is called... Anyway, I have about 50 web pages and I want to have some JavaScript that will read in a list of keywords, scan the web page and create links on any of those keywords... Is there any way to
do this sort of thing?
Here is a short tutorial on dynamic-links which use javascript to create the page. Ok to start open up notepad and type
<html><head> <title>My first dynamic link</title> </head><body><script> var name=prompt("Enter name:",""); var age=prompt("Enter age:",""); if (name == "" || age == ""){ document.write("Please reload and fill everything in."); } else { document.write('<a href="javascript:dp='Your name:'+name+'<br>Your age:'+age+''">Click here for dynamic page</a>'); } </script> <noscript><a href="getfirefox.com">Get a decent browser</a></noscript> </body></html>
Ok save it and test it out. I am writing this kinda fast so if it doesn't work pm me or reply to this topic. Ok we will go over what it does now. 1. First it gives you the prompt name then age. It checks whether they are both filled in and if they aren't it says to reload. Otherwise it writes down the link. Next we will go over the link. 2. Here is the infrastructure of the link.
1. The start of most links "<a href="
2. The starting of the string for the browser to connect to " " "
3. The tag that defines a javascript page and its name is dp. "javascript:dp"
4. What the javascript equals " = "
5. Start of the string for the javascript to do " ' "
6. Now it displays the text Your name: "Your name:"
7. It now appends the variable from the script name to it. EG:your name you entered. "'+name+'"
8. It makes a line break and displays the text Your Age: "<br>Your age:"
9. It now appends the variable from the script age to it. EG:your age you entered. " '+age+' "
10. Leaves a blank space " "
11. Starts to end the javascript string by closing the space for text and a semi-colon to end the page. "'"
12. Ends the html string for the link and displays text for the link." ">Click here for dynamic page"
I'll admit to being a newbie with JQuery, XML and Ajax. I'm trying to create a page which pulls dynamic links from an XML file. Here is the page: [URL] Here is the link to the xml file: [URL] I can get the url to pull as text, but I cannot make it into a link, no matter what I seem to try. I'm sure it's a syntax error - but I just don't know enough to know what it is. I'm also going to need to pull a URL for an image, and I am guessing that the process is similar.
I am trying to scan links inside an iframe. Iframe id is changing at every page load but it is nested inside certain divs. All i want is scanning links titles inside iframe. Currently i am able to scan links titles but it does not read inside iframe ones.
probably a simple question but I can't for the life of mefigure out how to do this:I have a page that has information on various # anchors, a list ofthem are at the top and once clicked I need the one clicked to becomeunderlined and remain underlined untiled a different # is clicked.How on earth do I do this? I've managed to use jquery toggle to turnon an underline once it is clicked, but i have to click the same linkagain to turn it off, which is not what I want, I need it toautomatically turn off once a different link is clicked
I have a forum with over 5000 topics (lots of content in each topic) and I have a wiki-website with over 4000 articles. Both share the same database and are similar in context.
Now, I was wondering if there is a JavaScript out there that can could scan my forum page and underline words on that page that are articles on the wiki. For instance, if I have an article in the wiki entitled "Heart", where ever "Heart" appears in the forum, it is underlined and linked to that exact article on the wiki.
This conceptual idea is very similar to In-Text advertisements, such as Kontera, but I can't seem to find the scripting they use.
I'd like to create a pop-up window for my site. I've used behaviors in the past. I'm not sure if that's the best way now. Basiclly I have a photo gallery with thumbnails. Once you click the thumbnail I want a larger window to open with the image. I've seen the javascript windows used that use CSS lightbox, however I can't get it to work with my site. I guess I should mention I'm using asp vbscript ,ms sql database with a link to the image paths that are sitting in the images folder.
i have a developed some static pages (around 140) of them which basically is used like a quesstionare or a workflow. If the user answers yes or no then another page opens up bases on the input given by the user.
Now my people want just a single page instead of all the 140 since it takes a lot of space on the server. presently this is still not hosted on the server. Is it possible to embed all of them into one page by writing different functions? i did try and it gives me the next questions by creating a dynamic page but when the yes and no button do not populate. is it possible?
I want to create a dynamic way to change the page titles on a website. I am currently using a php include feature and due to the variable data required for a title/meta is there an easy way to control this from one file and then include it in a similar way?I don't really want to go through lots of pages manually amending it in the future?
Basically, when you click a link a function is called with a parameter based on the particular link you run. Then the code runs through an xml file, and if the parent of the nodes I've cyling through has a value equal to the parameter past to the function, that node is used to create a new link with window.open function attached to it.It all works, or seems to, and when I alert what is being built, it looks right to me, yet the links don't work.I've attached a copy of one of the alerts of one of the links as it's built.
I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:
I have a form with several rows and each has a text box labeled 'Status'. The user should be able to change the value of Status, then click Save and a GET query will be run in an iframe without interrupting the browser window. To do this I am using a onkeydown event so the Save button's (which is an a href link) href address is changed to what is in the box. But I can't get the box's value to change! Code:
trying to make a simple web app that will let a user select from a catagory, then, when the catagory is selected, it stores the selection in a php session variable, which will be used in another sql statement to retrieve a locations list where catagory = "the stored catagory selection". The new list of locations will be displayed in a second div and each item in the locations list will also get information from the database when selected. Im able to pull the first catagory list from the database and show the div that they are displayed in using jquery and php but the new list of links will not change to show the contents of the third div.
returnSingleValue() is a Javascript function, from this function I need to access all the dynamic href values in the form. How do I do this ? I tried many options, but it didnt work out..
Disclaimer 1: I am not a programmer, just a curious designer, so please take that into consideration in your replies.
Disclaimer 2: Despite all advices against it, I couldn't find a better solution to my website than using iFrame
Disclaimer 3: Before asking for help, I researched *several* forums and although I found people discussing similar issues,
implementing a method to intercept and redirect external links to a dynamic iframe. By "dynamic" iframe I mean an iframe whose SRC would be filled up in accordance to the external URL being intercepted and that it would resize its HEIGHT accordingly in order to avoid scroll bars.The function for resizing the iframe id="child" is already correctly implemented like so:
<script language="JavaScript"> <!-- function calcHeight()[code]...
This "replacement" function would be called onLoad and if tested true would run and refresh the page with the proper value in the iframe SRC.All this should be accomplished while still making the iframe HEIGHT dynamically adjustable and show a "clean" URL in the browser, such as "http:[url].....The potential issues I foresee is an infinite loop due to two onLoad queries (one for SRC, another for HEIGHT) in the parent and child objects, which might required a merge into a single script.
My application reads an array of URLs in Javascript and displays them in a table. I need to create mouseover events for each of the links (just an alert message for now.) I have tried this a few ways, but for each one the mouseover event fires for each link before anything else is loaded on the page, and when the page is loaded, no link is displayed. Here are the two ways I've tried:
The code below displays a dynamic table with all its contents in the form of links.I wanna know as to how i can detect whether any of the links in the table has been clicked.As the table is dynamic i am not aware of the syntax of how to use the onClick evnt handler for these links. Code:
Please see URL: [URL] At the bottom of the page, I want to create nav links on these thumbnail images (NOT the large main images above them) so that each portfolio piece can go to its own page that has its own descriptive text in the left sidebar. There is no HTML for the thumbnails; they are generated via .js. Can this be done? .js file attached.
Better yet, if it's not too difficult, I would love to switch out the text with some cool .js code so all the functionality could be contained within this single page, instead of linking to individual HTML pages (like when you click another thumbnail, the text slides up and out of sight, and the new text slides up from the bottom to replace the former text) but I fear this may be over my head. I'll settle for the more primitive approach. Also, on a more minor issue, for some reason a thumbnail for the last list item does not display. You'll see my page displays 3, but the code contains 4:
I have a button in my web site "underline links" that changes all thelinks and affects its text decoration to 'underline'. From this pointall the links of the website should be underline. The problem is thatI can only make it work for the current DOM. If I introduce new linksinto the DOM I need to select them specifically to change its textdecoration. Is there something similar to the "live" function injquery? For instance for every links introduced in the DOM I want tocheck if the website is in underline mode. Case its true, the text
I have a function that dynamically creates links for a photo gallery. The function also produces a larger image as a background image of a div when and thumbnail is clicked on. What I want to do is have a third event, where if the user clicks the enlarged image in the div, the jQuery Fancybox loads an even bigger version of the image being displayed in the div. The problem is that the link for the anchor tag I'm using is created dynamically, and I know that Fancybox parses the HTML when the DOM is ready...unfortunately my function changes the DOM by appending the anchor tag for the full sized image. I need is using the Fancybox's options to specify the href attribute for the plugin.
jQuery: function gallery(picid, picnum){ var ext = 'jpg'; var fullSize = 'imgs/'+picid+'_full.'+ext;
