Create Dynamic Pages And Buttons On The New Page?
Dec 8, 2009
i have a developed some static pages (around 140) of them which basically is used like a quesstionare or a workflow. If the user answers yes or no then another page opens up bases on the input given by the user.
Now my people want just a single page instead of all the 140 since it takes a lot of space on the server. presently this is still not hosted on the server. Is it possible to embed all of them into one page by writing different functions? i did try and it gives me the next questions by creating a dynamic page but when the yes and no button do not populate. is it possible?

All I need to do is; on the click of a button, import the numerical
data in an html form (only one field) to a cell in a spreadsheet. Both
spreadsheet and the html file reside on the same server but there are
no dynamic capabilities. All I can use is html pages + javascript (or
anything else which do not require any special programs to be installed
on the server). Is this at all possible?

Here is a short tutorial on dynamic-links which use javascript to create the page. Ok to start open up notepad and type
<html><head>
<title>My first dynamic link</title>
</head><body><script>
var name=prompt("Enter name:","");
var age=prompt("Enter age:","");
if (name == "" || age == ""){
document.write("Please reload and fill everything in.");
} else {
document.write('<a href="javascript:dp='Your name:'+name+'<br>Your age:'+age+''">Click here for dynamic page</a>');
}
</script>
<noscript><a href="getfirefox.com">Get a decent browser</a></noscript>
</body></html>
Ok save it and test it out. I am writing this kinda fast so if it doesn't work pm me or reply to this topic. Ok we will go over what it does now.
1. First it gives you the prompt name then age. It checks whether they are both filled in and if they aren't it says to reload. Otherwise it writes down the link. Next we will go over the link.
2. Here is the infrastructure of the link.
1. The start of most links "<a href="
2. The starting of the string for the browser to connect to " " "
3. The tag that defines a javascript page and its name is dp. "javascript:dp"
4. What the javascript equals " = "
5. Start of the string for the javascript to do " ' "
6. Now it displays the text Your name: "Your name:"
7. It now appends the variable from the script name to it. EG:your name you entered. "'+name+'"
8. It makes a line break and displays the text Your Age: "<br>Your age:"
9. It now appends the variable from the script age to it. EG:your age you entered. " '+age+' "
10. Leaves a blank space " "
11. Starts to end the javascript string by closing the space for text and a semi-colon to end the page. "'"
12. Ends the html string for the link and displays text for the link." ">Click here for dynamic page"
13. And now closes the link. " </a> .....

I'd like to create a pop-up window for my site. I've used behaviors in the past. I'm not sure if that's the best way now. Basiclly I have a photo gallery with thumbnails. Once you click the thumbnail I want a larger window to open with the image. I've seen the javascript windows used that use CSS lightbox, however I can't get it to work with my site. I guess I should mention I'm using asp vbscript ,ms sql database with a link to the image paths that are sitting in the images folder.

I searched, but couldn't find answers--probably because I'm not sure what this is called... Anyway, I have about 50 web pages and I want to have some JavaScript that will read in a list of keywords, scan the web page and create links on any of those keywords... Is there any way to
do this sort of thing?

I want to create a dynamic way to change the page titles on a website. I am currently using a php include feature and due to the variable data required for a title/meta is there an easy way to control this from one file and then include it in a similar way?I don't really want to go through lots of pages manually amending it in the future?

I'll admit to being a newbie with JQuery, XML and Ajax. I'm trying to create a page which pulls dynamic links from an XML file. Here is the page: [URL] Here is the link to the xml file: [URL] I can get the url to pull as text, but I cannot make it into a link, no matter what I seem to try. I'm sure it's a syntax error - but I just don't know enough to know what it is. I'm also going to need to pull a URL for an image, and I am guessing that the process is similar.

I'm making a javascript game for a digital media class and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to code this. The idea is that there's three similar images, one that's different and the user must select the image that's different by selecting the radio button below it and pressing the Submit button.
So in the if/else statement, I want it to be programmed so that if the correct answer is selected and then submitted, it will take you to another webpage. If an incorrect answer is selected, I want an alert to pop up and say Sorry, that's Incorrect. Here's the coding I have so far, none of which is working.
<script type="text/javascript">
function processAnswer()
{
for (i = 0; i <= 3; i++)

I'm trying to create a questionnaire style series of radio buttons which are hidden and then a different set of radio buttons displayed depending on the previous answer. eg
Q1 Is it a man? (if select yes then display)
Q2 Is he called John? (if no then display)
Q3 Is he called Gary? and so on...
I've been testing using the code below but wondered if anyone had any ideas on how this could be done easily?

I have 10 buttons on a page, and 10 more "onmouseover buttons" that correlate to the first set. Each button or onmouseover button is only 1-2KB! But I can still hold the mouse over a button for a couple seconds until it loads the onmouseover button. I'm using javascript to have the buttons change. The page does load a 2MB video. Could that be the cause? Can I tell it to load the buttons first somehow?

What I am trying to do is create a CV where you turn the pages without
reloading the web page. I have successfully done this using the code
above but the links don't work in Internet Explorer until I have gone
through all the pages. Netscape and Opera Works Fine!
The above consists of two pages for convience but my final site will
be approx 6 to 7 pages long.
Can anybody help get the links working on loading up 1st time without
having to go through all the pages or is there a bug with IE?

I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). I've recently begun this week going through tutorials to learn some jQuery. My whole motivation was to create little windows that aren't entire new pop up pages. Think of being on facebook, going through some pictures and clicking the "Share" button. It's a new window that pops up but not an entirely new page if that makes sense.Unfortunately the w3schools tutorial didn't really point me in a direction to be able to do this. Any ideas on where to learn it?My real intentions are to learn how to do something like the pop up that you see when you first load this page:

I have made a site with 5 pages, each page contains a form. Each form is a checklist with a dropdown to choose an answer for each individual item.
Here is a same of the form code:
I am trying to write a script that will be called with onclick event from the "Next" button. This script will collect all the "notOK" option value/names and send them to a document, concatenating the info from the next forms until a single report is created with a list of all the "notOK" values. One the user gets to the end of the last form, there will be a submit button which sends the entire report to a specific email address.
Here is the script I have so far, which pulls the "notOK" values for each page:
This piece of code works great for an individual page, but I need to expand it to send the data to a report instead of window.alert, and I need to add some way of concatenating the data from each form to a single page, doc, etc.

I am developing a site that adds multiple dynamic buttons. I would be ideal if the event these buttons trigger could pass a 'variable' (the passed variable is constant with respect to each button).
My attempt...
myButton.setAttribute("onClick", "myFunction(" + myVar +")");
...doesn't seem to work.

I have an HTML table dynamically populated with data from a coldfusion query and having radio buttons - see code following below.I need javascript to see the radio buttons and the user's selection - "approved"; "denied"; or, "N/A". If the user selects "approved" for multiple rows and then Submit the information will update the database table and remove those rows.However, if the user selects "approved" and "denied" then I need to update the "approved" rows and stop the update at the "denied" row and show a dialog box which informs the user that the "Reason for Denial" text box must be entered. Then the Submit button can be engaged and the "denied" selection processed. Only one "denied" at a time will be updated - but all "approved" entries can be denied similtaneously - unless a "denied" intervenes.I do have javascript code for the "denied" selection with empty "Reason for Denial" text box - see below:
<script type="text/javascript">
function rationale() {
var denInfo = document.getElementById("denialReason");[code]....

I'm dynamically generating radio buttons, but in Internet Explorer (tested in versions 7 & 6), you cannot change the radio buttons after they've been added. In Firefox (testing in 3.6) it's fine. I've mocked up some code below which shows the issue. It generated up to 10 radio buttons (by random number) and checks that radio button programmatically. However you cannot manually select an already generated radio button.
HTML:
<form action="list.htm">
<div id="list"></div>
<button id="btnChoose">Add radio button</button>

I would like to dynamically update a score as you select radio buttons on a form. I would like to update the actual score and the possible score every time a radio button is clicked.
If "yes" is selected, they get the points. If "no" is selected, they don't get the points. If "N/A" is selected, the points aren't counted (in either the actual score or the possible score).
So, when either "yes" or "no" is selected the possible points need to be increased by the number of points that question is worth, and the actual points need to be added if they got "yes". I would like it to display their score (total percentage and running score) as you click the radio buttons, so I'm assuming you would need to call a function on each click which passes the point values along?
Here's my basic form so you know what I mean:

1. Load the first page of a series of pages into an iframe when you click a link
2. On each click load the next in order page
3. When last page has loaded if clicked again will start from the beginning.
What I am doing: I am creating a tutorial for a friend who cannot figure out how to use her new rental management program. I could use a manual slide show to have her click for the next image however, there are a LOT of tutorial images which show her what to do at that point. Her program contains a great number of setup screens, report screens etc. This means the slide show would be sitting there loading all these images before it will work. So, I figured, OK make a page with an iframe, and then I could put each image on it's own little page i.e. page1, page2 etc. Place a little button, or a next link, then have the link load the pages into the iframe in order.
