AJAX :: Request + Pass Json Objects To The Server? - Firefox Error: No Element Found
Feb 8, 2010
I'm making this ajax call:
Code:
url = "/GeoAdaptaApp/geoLogger/logGuiEvents?json="+aLotOfJSONStuff;
encUrl = encodeURI(url,"UTF-8");
new Ajax.Request(encUrl, {
method: 'get',
onSuccess: this.sendQueueToServerSuccess( this,logConsole ),
[Code]...
The JSON string seems correct (I checked it with a validator) and it worked on an Ajax.updater (but i need a request now). Firefox keeps telling me:
[Code]...
The call always end up in the onFailure block. Full request here: [URL] It's very strange, Is there a better way to pass json objects to the server?

whats the best way to pass a json string to the server.
if my jsonstring = {a:Ƈ',b:'sds',c:'sdg'}
could i send that to the server passing it as 1 variable like so:
url = /serverside.php?json=jsonstring
or would i have to break it down into something like this:
url = /serverside.php?a=1&b=sds&c=sdg

I wonder how you can select the ID of an element (li) you have clicked and pass this to the server to do stuff with it :-)

I get this error when validating:
The element named above was found in a context where it is not allowed. This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element in the "body" section instead of inside "head" -- or two elements that overlap (which is not allowed).
One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create cascading effects. For instance, using XHTML's "self-closing" tags for "meta" and "link" in the "head" section of a HTML document may cause the parser to infer the end of the "head" section and the beginning of the "body" section (where "link" and "meta" are not allowed; hence the reported error).

I have troubles with a simple jQuery.ajax-request which looks like this:
jQuery.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "[URL]",
//url: "[URL]",
data: "",
success: function(data, status) {
$('body').html(data);
},
dataType: "json"
});
I test this with two different url's:
[URL]
[URL]
The first url works and I get json-data in the data-object. The second url gives a "parseerror", and I can't figure out why. As far as I can see (and using a json-validator) the second url returns valid json, so what's wrong?

I got a problem with a json response from an ajax request.
I have the following code :
Code:
And the called page (ajax_sous_famille.php) is giving me this result :
Code:
The info in the resulting string is correct, but here you can see the [ ] at the start and end of the line. It seems not to be a correct Json string and then it crashes my script !
I have another request like this which gives me the good format of resulting data (without the [ ]) and which works perfectly when i decode the Json string to display it.
The difference between the 2 requests is that the one which works returns only 1 array of values like
Code:
And the second one which doesn't work returns something like
Code:
Actually, all the records are coming from a database and in the case it doesn't work, i wanna get several results from this database.

I spent the best part of yesterday trying to get my form to be sent to the server however for the life of me I cannot figure out the problem. I haven't used prototype before but here is my code that I think should work perfectly fine,The php script works perfectly, i've entered test data into it and it makes a connection to the third party server using curl and then requests information that I get back i.e. the routing id comes back. But I cannot test the data using the form as the request isn't working for some reason.

If I generate a new element via AJAX, jQuery don't listen to events at this element. I read that live() how to use this function together with post().
That's what I have:
$(document).ready(function() {
$.post('products.php', $('#products_form').serialize(), function(returnData) {
$('.target').html(returnData);
});

I have this code:
var dataString = $.toJSON(data);
$.post(url, {dataValues: dataString}, function(res){
$('#secretIFrame').attr('src', url);
$('#secretIFrame').html(res);
});
Problem is, I can't access dataValues at the server side once I assign this same URL to the iframe.Is there any other way to POST JSON value through form submission without ajax? or any other way out, I am trying to download file that is based on some parameters and isn't a direct download link.

how do i pass values back to javascript from the server via ajax? I don't want to pass entire html. Is there any way to simply pass a JavaScript object or an array without stuff like xml and json? I could probably do an eval() on the result to convert it to a javascript understandable array, but maybe there's a more clever way to do that?

I have been using asynchronous requests for a long time. so the response was processed in a callback function. I thought of not using async so i made synchronous requests. The reason is that i dont have to have two more lines for checking the status and the onreadystatechange.... my synchronous requests would be like this...
[Code]....
so from the code you can understand that there is no need of a callback function and if conditions to check ready state... ... So there is no problem in the above code. The problem araises here... if i press the F5 (refresh) key or do a page refresh when the process is waiting for the response i get an (NS ERROR - firefox ( i have not yet checked that in IE browsers) (javascript error) though the process completes successfully. why?
Do we have to check whether the page is navigating away while in synchronous operation and abort the request? or what could be the reason for the error. This will not happen in async requests because that is also the reason for async...

I'm using an .ajax() call to do a jsonp request to another domain. When the user is not logged in, however, the server will return a 401 error. Unfortunately, this causes my .ajax() call to fail _without_ calling the error callback. Is this a known bug? Here is my code:

I have the following JavaScript (see below). The script requests an XML file from the server and displays it on the page.
The script works fine when the requested XML file is stored on the same server as the script.
The problem is when I try requesting an XML file from an external server such as the National Weather Service. I get an error. If I take the XML file from the National Weather Service and save it to my server it works. Why can't I use my script to request XML files stored on external servers?
Javascript Code
window.onload = initAll;
var xhr = false;
function initAll() {
document.getElementById("makeTextRequest").onclick = getNewFile;

I am trying to add some HTML into a <p> element by using an AJAX request that gets a txt file with my HTML in it. That code works fine but the problem I get is that I need to enter in the path to the file dynamically. I guess I could use PHP on the server for this but I am not sure how (im not too good with PHP yet, but it is installed on my server). C# would work too as I have .NET configured as well (but again I dont know it very well).[code]I would like to replace the "linkHere" with the file path attribute I am grabbing from an XML file.I am doing that like this:$(this).attr('filePath').substr(3).replace("\","/")+$ 9this).attr('label');this works fine to make the path correctly but I need a way to inject this into the HTML/txt file to replace the "linkHere".I have an <img>with an onclick event that calls a function I made to do all this.

How do i make it with the plugin and the remote method ?I saw that there is a way of writing custom methods:URL...But how do i combine it with the ajax calls?

When I load a JSON file locally, I receive the following error in my Firefox console: "not well-formed / file:///<fileLocation>/data.json / Line: 1 / {}". The loading otherwise seems successful, as I can interact with the loaded JavaScript object. For this example, I'm loading an empty JSON object, but this error occurs with non-empty JSON objects, too.
My JavaScript code embedded in HTML:
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.4.1.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$.getJSON("data.json", function(jsonData, textStatus)
[code]....
I'm using Firefox 3.6 and jQuery 1.4.1. This error does not occur in IE 7.

I worked with now in jQuery. Property however at present the following problem: [i]I provide a AJAX Request. the side is loaded, the parameters all conveyed and back receives I a complete HTML side. Now I would like to have only certain elements however from this side, like DIV, SPAN etc. How can I make with the AJAX Request return in such a way best, which I can select these elements thereby? Simply it would be unfortunately not functioned over the function $ (element), it even if I indicate the HTML Request as secondly parameter.[/i] Excused, for my bad English. ;-) Translatertool. There is unfortunately too many words, in order to describe my problem. ^^

I have a php page which returns a table representing a query sent to a MySQL database. So far it has worked in every case except now that I'm trying to use it to call a stored procedure, in which case the readystate is staying at 1 and never completing.
I have logged the results of the php file both in an error log and looked at the response from the request using firebug, both of which show a correct result.
Why isn't this returning properly?
Here are the relevant javascript functions:
Code:
function customizeType()
{
$("custom-header").innerHTML = "";
$("custom-top").innerHTML = "";
[Code]....
After the page loads, the error log shows correct results for all queries.

I'm using firefox javascript console to find errors within my webpages.
I've found the following errors:
"Expected colour but found '#'. Error in parsing value from property 'color'. Decleration dropped. Line 0"
" Error in parsing value from property 'display'. Decleration dropped. Line 0"
How can i go about finding which lines of code are creating these errors? as it tells me its on line0, this gives me no clue as to where to look.
