JQuery :: Internal Server Error 500 Thrown From Perl Script

Feb 25, 2011

I have a perl script which is called via Ajax. It simply writes 3 values to a database. The code works fine (values get written successfully) but I get an "Internal Server Error" thrown. The Errorlog says "premature end of script headers". There was no problem with the application - it works as required and has for a few months - but I noticed the error via Firebug when testing something else.So I started stripping perl out of the script in an attempt to locate the problem .. and continued till I only had only had two lines left .. the shebang and exit .. I still get the 500 error. Running the script direct from a browser gives the 500 error in the browser window ... from the command prompt it's fine - ie. nothing in the apache errorlog.

There is nothing wrong with the server configuration - it has hundreds of perl scripts and has been running for years.

AJAX :: Request + Pass Json Objects To The Server? - Firefox Error: No Element Found

encUrl = encodeURI(url,"UTF-8");
new Ajax.Request(encUrl, {

Put A Function In A Object Created Using JSON Notation

Aug 23, 2011

I'm trying to put a function in a object created using JSON notation. The syntax looks like this...

Code:

historySet = { ajaxRunFunction: "updatePageCopy('" + pageID + "','','" + pageName + "')"};

It works fine in FF, but in IE it calls the function updatePageCopy when it creates the object history set. I don't want to call the function when the object is created.

JQuery :: JSONP And Asynchronous - Capturing And Returning Response?

If this is synchronous, normal json request, I can capture the result (data) and return it to a calling function.

However jsonp is not synchronous. Whilst the data IS returned, and I can view it from within the success function, but I cannot access it after that.

async: false,
cache: false,

I am building a library of functions which call this function, so I cannot have the data processing done within the success function, I need to extract the data itself.

Get Response From A Web Service In JSON?

Nov 17, 2011

I want to access a web service and get the response in json using javascript. The web services can respond in json and gives me a table of records with a specific campus. I input the campus code in the text box and create the url. Now, I want to get the response in json and I'm really stuck.

<FORM NAME="myform" ACTION="" METHOD="GET">Enter something in the box: <BR>
<INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="inputbox" VALUE=""><P>
<INPUT TYPE="button" NAME="button" Value="Click" onClick="loadurl(this.form)">
</FORM>

[Code]....

From the information search process: I know I have to change the HTTP Header accept and use application/json and probably use JSONRequest.get()

JQuery :: Get Function Returning String Not JSON Object

Aug 5, 2009

I have a very simple PHP script that returns JSON like this:
{"question":"What day is it?"}

And I'm trying to call it from another page using Ajax. My code looks like this:
var url = "/test.php";
$.get(url,
function(data){
$.each(data, function(i, value) {
alert(value);
}, "json"
);
});

When I run it I get each character printed out one at a time in a separate alert. And then when I used this line of code:
alert(typeof data);
It tells me that 'data' is a string. Shouldn't it be a JSON object?

Onclick With Dot Notation Throws Expected ";" Error

Aug 7, 2009

I have a line which looks like this in PHP:

Code:

<input id="btnCancel$folder_id" type="button" value="Cancel" onclick="swfu.$folder_id.cancelQueue();" disabled="disabled" />

and of course when output looks like this:

Code:

<input id="btnCancel111" type="button" value="Cancel" onclick="swfu.111.cancelQueue();" disabled="disabled" />

It seems that the .111. throws an expected ";" error. swfu.cancelQueue(); by itself does not.

These objects are being defined in a function which takes in the folder ID as a variable, and then builds using this line:

Code:

swfu[folderId] = new SWFUpload(settings);

JQuery :: Callback Not Invoked With JSON Response In 1.4.1?

Jan 30, 2010

I've been hitting a strange bug where callbacks are not invoked when a JSON response is returned from an AJAX call under jQuery 1.4.1. I just upgraded my app; this was working perfectly pre-1.4.

I do specify the return type as "json" when I invoke $.post . When a simple JSON string like "false" is returned, the callback is invoked. It seems to fail with more complex types, specifically with JSON objects, i.e., {"a":1, "b":5} .

If it helps, I'm running Firefox 3.5 on Ubuntu. In my test environment, the only installed extension is Firebug.

JQuery :: Parse A JSON Response Array?

Feb 26, 2011

How can I adequately parse a JSON response I'm getting from the server, which happens to be an array?

The array I'm getting back is actually this one:

[{"photo":{"created_at":"2011-02-26T18:40:00Z","id":5,"name":"Natalie_Portman.jpg","updated_at":"2011-02-26T18:40:00Z"}},{"photo":{"created_at":"2011-02-26T18:40:14Z","id":6,"name":"scarlett-johansson-.jpg","updated_at":"2011-02-26T18:40:14Z"}}]

I believe this one is valid JSON, but my attempts to parse it are always failing when I do it like this:

success:
function(data, textStatus, xhr)
{
var photos = jQuery.parseJSON(data);
alert(photos);
},

The above code displays 'null', and the documentation says a null occurs when the JSON isn't valid. so, what's going on ?

I need to know the codes to parse as well as access the values in the parsed response.

Jquery :: Json Response From An Ajax Request ?

Mar 28, 2011

I got a problem with a json response from an ajax request.

I have the following code :

Code:

And the called page (ajax_sous_famille.php) is giving me this result :

Code:

The info in the resulting string is correct, but here you can see the [ ] at the start and end of the line. It seems not to be a correct Json string and then it crashes my script !

I have another request like this which gives me the good format of resulting data (without the [ ]) and which works perfectly when i decode the Json string to display it.

The difference between the 2 requests is that the one which works returns only 1 array of values like

Code:

And the second one which doesn't work returns something like

Code:

Actually, all the records are coming from a database and in the case it doesn't work, i wanna get several results from this database.

JQuery :: Prevent Internet Explorer From Downloading JSON Response?

Jan 13, 2010

I have a feeling that the solution to my problem is stupidly simple, but crawling through Google has provided me with none.

I'm trying to handle the login process on one of my clients' site using the AJAX functionality provided by jQuery.

Here is the $.ajax() call in question:

$.ajax({
"cache": false,
"complete": function()
{

[Code]....

I have already set the Content-Type header of the response to application/json, which made no difference. I also tried text/html and text/plain, but in these cases Internet Explorer shows the JSON as HTML or plain text in the browser window... *sigh*

Googling also gave me the suggestion to just use text/plain and eval() the response myself, but I remember reading elsewhere that this is pretty unsafe. I am unsure on the specifics on this, though.

Response Is Null When Calling $.getJSON On A Remote Server?

Jun 24, 2010

I have a drop down menu with a change event that makes a JQuery JSON AJAX request, which I've simplified for this post:

Code JavaScript:
$('#id_template').change( function() {
var data = {
action: 'change_template'

[Code]....

When I do change the drop menu's value, the request seems to be successfully sent with a successful reply received (inspected it in Firebug), as the content in the "status == success" is accessed. However, the problem is the response is null.

I don't have this problem when I'm testing on my local WAMP setup, and so have no idea why everything appears to be working fine here except the retrieval of the response array.

JQuery :: Retrieve Server Response After Submitting Form In HTML?

<input name="item_description_1" type="hidden" value="Test Product of my cart"/>

On hitting the button one new window is getting opened with response URL from 3rd party(in this case Google Checkout). But for me i need to open this in a inline-popup (lightBox, ColorBox etc...) rather than new window. In the form definition, i have replaced mymerchant_idwith 'XXXXXXXXXX' for privacy purpose

Server Response Correct - Viewed In Firebug - Not Displaying On Page

Mar 12, 2010

I'm having two Ajax-related problems on a page I am working on at the moment. [url] On this page, I have two buttons that use Ajax to fetch two separate forms and put them into a chosen div; that part works like a charm.

On said forms, there is a div that is meant to display any necessary error messages when the submit button is clicked. However, on the first time the page is visited and the form is chosen, the div won't display the error message. Only after refreshing the page/choosing the form a second time will the message show. I've been checking the response from the server via Firebug and the response is correct, it just seems like the page isn't updating correctly.

Secondly, once I refresh or choose the form again and the error message begins to show, if I enter values into the form fields and should be getting a different error message, it never updates. Once again, the server response is correct, but for some reason the page just isn't updating to reflect the new message.

I have been using the date field on the New Event form for testing; if you have Firebug, you should be able to see that I am getting the desired response from the server (look in the allErr div), but the HTML isn't changing with it. I have tried both using my own Ajax functions and using jQuery's Ajax implementation, but both give me the same problems.
