Apr 14, 2010I want to send three text box values to server using jquery ajax. problem is that, i dont know the exact syntax to send three data. When i try sending one data(also change no.of parameters to one at server side method), its going good but when i try to send three text box values, its giving jquery error:"Internal server error". I think I am not sending data in correct way. Example below contains only two sending data, because i was trying to send 2 data first.

Apr 2, 2011Is it possible to have a text box input searching for the entered text on another webpage in the same way Find In Page would do? I have a webpage that I want users to input an item, and that this will open the targeted webpage and bring you to (and highlight) the matched item(s) like find in page does. Is this possible or is the easiest way to just make users open the link to the target page and just complete the find in page search there?

Form Input Text Disappear On Click / Reappear If Nothing Has Been Entered
Mar 2, 2010Basically i need help with input fields that when clicked the text (value) disappears but if the user has not entered anything in it would revert back to what was originally there.I have managed to get the value inside to disappear once clicked without the use of javascript but would love someone to point me in the right direction of how to revert the original value back if nothing was entered in if the user did click inside as the field continues to be blank.

Ajax :: Write String To IFrame As XML Without Server-Side Scripting
May 13, 2011I am trying to write a string variable containing XML in the form of text into an iframe such that it shows up as formatted XML with the expand(+) and collapse (-) options that default in IE when opening an XML file.
The first thing I tried is writing the string to a file with .xml extension and setting the iFrame src to that file. This works well normally, however in this case, the file does not get created where I want to due to some security restrictions in IE which I cannot edit as I dont have admin rights.
Secondly I tried appending the string as innerHTML to that iframe but only the content within the XML tags without any formatting shows up which is not intended.
Thirdly I cannot use any server side scripting as this is a very controlled environment and I am not allowed to host servers or edit server scripts at will. This is totally out of question, so I guess Ajax or calling a costom defined web service wont help.
At best I can say, I am limited to HTML, Javascript and vbScript.
I am receiving the string as a responseText from an ajax request which is consuming a web service. If I use responseXML, it doesn't work.
The solution I am looking at is to either display it as formatted XML in an iFrame or to just throw it into a textarea which I am already doing and simultaneously write it to an XML file or do both. If not automatically, atleast have the user press a button and do it.
Document.write Input Type Hidden Will Only Pass String Variable Up To The First Space?
Feb 25, 2010Let me preface this with the usual disclaimer: I am new to this and have only been programming with Javascript, PHP for about 2 weeks now and have been lucky enough to have resolved the issues I have encountered. This one however is puzzling to me.
I have a HTML form created that collects member information. It calls, on submit, a confirmation page that lists all the data fields entered. This all works great. However, when I then post the variables from the first html form page from my second confirmation html page to my PHP script, using document.write with input type=hidden and inserting the address variable into the value field, the Javascript only passes this variable up to the first space. It is the only variable I pass that has a space in it.
I have verified that the variable does indeed contain the whole address and I have also verified when I execute the following: document.write ('<input type="hidden" name="address1" value='+address_1+'>');
the address_1 parameter passed to the php script only passes the string up to the first space.
I even tried to put fixed text in there instead of a variable (e.g.)
document.write ('<input type="hidden" name="address1" value="555 Drury Lane" >');
and it still only passes the string up to the first space (555).
I show the variable address_1 on my confirmation page and it shows the entire string.
I checked what was being passed and it seems that the Javascript is the culprit (or more likely the Javascript creator - me)
All my other variables (which don't have spaces) pass to the php script with no problems.

Feb 9, 2010I got a couple of comboboxes were the user selects a series of numbers. Once a selection is made, the value is appended to an input box. The idea is that the appended values form a telephone number, or at least part of one, that will then be used to search trough a database to look for a matching number.If I select "021" from indicatif, the script will append 021 to the input "blabla". The problem is, if I now select "022", the input will show "021022" instead of replacing the 021 with 022.
What I would like is that, for each combobox, the script replaces the selected value with the new one instead of simply appending it, like instead of say 021022555666 it would show 021555 or 022666 or 021666 depending on what is selected...you get the idea?Is this doable? Needless to say I'm a total noob at javascript.
Capture Form Input Text And Pass It To The Following Page

Ajax :: Modification - Function To Load Text File Information From The Server
Sep 24, 2011I have been successfully using the following "myAjax" function to load text file information from the server.
ajax.js:
After I load the text file, I store the text "records" into an array by doing something like this:
Where the '}' character is my record delimiter. It could just as easily be ' ' or ' ' or the like.
Again, I am not having any problems doing it this way as it suits my current needs.
Now the question(s)
1. Does the call to read the text data from the external file always read in the entire contents or can I read one line or delimited record at a time and store it to the array directly without the text storage?
2. If the text is always read completely (my suspicion), can I safely delete the "TextInformation" after I convert to the array format? Is there any memory penalty for doing it this way as the text information can be somewhat lengthly and I don't like the idea of having doubled memory usage when I only need the information in array format anyway?
This is the idea I am considering, but I don't know if there are drawback to this method of if there is a better way to accomplish the task.

In firebug I have seen the console the response and html both displays "ok" even if I prompt the value of data it displays "ok" but when I debug the code it appends character along with the value .Another thing is that is it possible to put the entire ajax code into a function and based on the value it return after success full execution I return Boolean value to calling function.I have tried this but it always returns false.
