If I generate a new element via AJAX, jQuery don't listen to events at this element. I read that live() how to use this function together with post().

I am trying to add some HTML into a <p> element by using an AJAX request that gets a txt file with my HTML in it. That code works fine but the problem I get is that I need to enter in the path to the file dynamically. I guess I could use PHP on the server for this but I am not sure how (im not too good with PHP yet, but it is installed on my server). i have a menu generated by a list with nested lists. i want the parent link to stay highlighted when the mouse hovers over the sub menus. because those sub menus are also generated by jquery (qtip), CSS alone won't do it (triedul.topnav li:hover a {background-color: #F00;}).is there a way to do this using jquery?

i am working on a custom drop down list that has hidden #options DIV which is shown when the user clicks on a button. the problem i am having is that the click event does not seem to be attached to the LI elements since they are hidden when the page first loads. if i show the #options DIV when the page loads everything is working as expected.i've tried to attach the click event after i show the hidden UL but that didn't work either.what can i do to make sure the LI click event fires? i tried to put A tag inside of LI and attach click to that but to no avail.

For some reason, IE8 insists on submitting an HTTP GET request when the user presses "enter" when inside of an <input> element.It's a rather curious thing because I have an <input type="submit" /> that has an event for "click" that contains the following code:
event.preventDefault();
event.stopImmediatePropagation();
This works on Firefox - if the user presses "Enter" inside of an input element on the form, the submit button will not execute. But on IE, it does. However, if the IE user "clicks" the submit button, it does the right thing.Do I have to also override keydown events too and stop those? Why does Firefox and IE work differently here?

Now I would like to have only certain elements however from this side, like DIV, SPAN etc. How can I make with the AJAX Request return in such a way best, which I can select these elements thereby? View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using some jQuery to work with the Last.FM API, and I'm stuck where I need to allow the user to run the JSON request a second time after the page loads (it loads once automatically when the page loads, the second time is when they push a button). What happens currently, is the JSON function is fed some default data when the page loads:

You might have noticed in the JSON, I write the URL the JSON is requesting to the console every time it runs. When I click this button, a new URL pops up in the console below the first one but only for a second, and then the page reloads and the original JSON request is called. It's this loop that I can't seem to break out of - why does re-calling the JSON refresh the page?
I'm having some problems understanding the append() function. What I'd like to do is select an element using it's ID and add a row to the table with a HTML form element. The table is dynamically generated using a Django template ( form.as_table() ) so I'm not able to alter the original HTML markup too much.

I have created a form with malsup's Form Plugin wherein it submits on change of the inputs. I have set up my jQuery script to index drop down menus and visible inputs, and uses that index to determine whether keydown of tab should move focus to the next element or the first element, and likewise with shift+tab keydown. However, instead of moving focus to the first element from the last element on tab keydown like I would like it to, it moves focus to the second element. i have got about 50 definition lists on one html-page witch all look linke this:

I'm doing a very simple expand/collapse function using 'slideToggle'. The button that triggers this event simply says 'Expand/collapse'. I want this text to change depending on whether an element is visible or hidden.

I made a website in which I -for the first time- included some jquery code. I am totally new at this. I managed to have a menu, whose elements can be clicked, which triggers the apparition of a different "bubbles" with text inside. So far so good. But I would like to make a bubble disappear when I click on another element than the one that triggered its apparition. Explanation :
My menu is for example like: menu element 1 | menu element 2 It should do this
>> click on menu element 1 = bubble1 (it works) >> click on menu element 1 = bubble 1 disappears (it works) OR >> click on menu element 2 = bubble 1 disappears, bubble2 appears (doesn't work! there I have 2 bubbles at the same time)

catch an element and add another element in run-time using jQuery. The HTML looks like this -
