I can't manage to stop an animation with stop() function.
Here's the code:
$('#test').mouseenter(function(){
$('#test .navigation').stop().fadeTo('normal',1);
});
$('#test').mouseleave(function(){
$('#test .navigation').stop().fadeTo('normal',0);
});
I don't know what's the problem, perhaps I'm not understanding stop().

I'm working on a navigation menu where I want to insert some html after a UL element.
Here's the statement:
selUL.eq(x+1).after('<b>hello</b></div><div class="subMenu">');
I'm trying to insert it after the following <ul> element:
<div class="subMenu">
<ul

It's like it's trying to auto correct me. I need it to print everything exactly as I have it, otherwise my navigation won't divide into separate columns. Anyone have an idea why it's doing this? If I remove the <div> elements and just use the <b> element it works fine.
EDIT: After some more testing, the After method seems to strip out any closing elements not yet opened (</div>) and automatically closes any elements opened but not closed (<div class="subMenu">). Anyone know of a way to stop this from happening?

I am using $().html to manipulate DOM elements, as an example:
jQuery('#basic).html(..some data...);
I then alter the DOM using a div and id as part of the HTML document. For example.
<div id='basic>change this</div>
This is absolutely fine when manipulating simple things (like numbers or text such as the above) - but when I wish to manipulate a specific attribute of an element wrapped within a div
<div id=basic>
<a href="I-want-to-alter-just-this-attribute">Link</a>
</div>
How do I do this?
I can't nest the div within the a element :(
At the moment I am using $().html to insert the entire element and its attribute list, but this is very cumbersome,inelegantand fault prone (and doesn't seem to work well using JSON).
I can't seem to find a method to Modify Attribute !!

i have a menu generated by a list with nested lists. i want the parent link to stay highlighted when the mouse hovers over the sub menus. because those sub menus are also generated by jquery (qtip), CSS alone won't do it (triedul.topnav li:hover a {background-color: #F00;}).is there a way to do this using jquery?

I need to insert a "</td><td>" after an element with a class that is generated dynamically by PHP. I've discovered that jQuery automatically reverses this back to <td></td>. Is there any workaround? I've tried .after and .insertAfter -- they work for inserting everything except "backwards" element tags.

I want to get the text from a link <a href="">text_I_want_to_get_from_here</a> and insert it after into an input element <input type="text" name="want_to_have_here" value=""> by using jQuery.
I found something with $("#myid").html() to get this, but I am not sure how to use it, really tried but I am a freshman.

I'm trying to bend my mind to insert a <div class="image_container"/> before the text in an list element
<li>text1</li>
<li>text2</li>
<li>text3</li>
should become:
<li><div class="image_container"></div>text1</li>
<li><div class="image_container"></div>text2</li>
<li><div class="image_container"></div>text3</li>
$('li', this).before('<div class="image_container"></div>')
makes<div class="image_container"></div><li>text1</li>
I tried other things, but I think I'm overlooking an obvious command.

I am trying to add some HTML into a <p> element by using an AJAX request that gets a txt file with my HTML in it. That code works fine but the problem I get is that I need to enter in the path to the file dynamically. I guess I could use PHP on the server for this but I am not sure how (im not too good with PHP yet, but it is installed on my server). C# would work too as I have .NET configured as well (but again I dont know it very well).[code]I would like to replace the "linkHere" with the file path attribute I am grabbing from an XML file.I am doing that like this:$(this).attr('filePath').substr(3).replace("\","/")+$ 9this).attr('label');this works fine to make the path correctly but I need a way to inject this into the HTML/txt file to replace the "linkHere".I have an <img>with an onclick event that calls a function I made to do all this.

I have a databound control that I'm trying to add a menu that will show up only when the user rolls over the area. I am trying to append the rollover menu to each data container. I am able to append the menu, but the problem is that I cannot select the menu after it has been created to add say a click function to it. Basically, I am trying to append a menu that only shows up when a user rolls over the container (such as a <div>) and I would like to add some function to the newly created element. The problem is that I cannot assign the rollover menu an ID because although I could select them at that point it will assign the function to all of the ID's which won't really do me any good.

I'm a newbie to JavaScript and Greasemonkey and just started learning
with 'Dive Into Greasemonkey'. I looked for an example on the web, but
unfortunately I'm still missing something...
I have a text file which is a simple database:
Key01 Text01 Url01
Key02 Text02 Url02
....
I'd like to insert after
<a href="anUrl" class="thisClass">Key01<a>
the element
<a href="Url01">Text01<a>
I tried to reuse the "Dumb Quotes" from 'Dive Into Greasemonkey' by
replacing
replacement = {
"Key01":"Key01</a><a href="Url01">Text01",
"Key02":"Key02</a><a href="Url01">Text02"
};
Unfortunately, this doesn't work, since </a><a href...is not
interpreted as a HTML tag.
So I tried this:
nodes = document.evaluate(
"//text()",
document,
null,
XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE,
null);
for (var i = 0; i < nodes.snapshotLength; i++) {
node = nodes.snapshotItem(i);
text = node.data;
for (key in replacements) {
if(s==key)
helpkey=key;
}
newLink = document.createElement('a');
// newLink.href = 'Url0x' ????
// newLink.appendChild(document.createTextNode(Text0x )); ???
newLink.parentNode.insertBefore(newLink, node.nextSibling);
}
I'm really lost.

I'm having some problems understanding the append() function. What I'd like to do is select an element using it's ID and add a row to the table with a HTML form element. The table is dynamically generated using a Django template ( form.as_table() ) so I'm not able to alter the original HTML markup too much.
If I had a table like this...

I have created a form with malsup's Form Plugin wherein it submits on change of the inputs. I have set up my jQuery script to index drop down menus and visible inputs, and uses that index to determine whether keydown of tab should move focus to the next element or the first element, and likewise with shift+tab keydown. However, instead of moving focus to the first element from the last element on tab keydown like I would like it to, it moves focus to the second element. How can I change it to cycle focus to the actual first and last elements? Here is a live link to my form: [URL]. Here is my script:
$(document).ready(function() {
var options = {
target: '#c_main',
success: setFocus

i have got about 50 definition lists on one html-page witch all look linke this:
<dl>
<dt class="title">aaa</dt>
<dd class="subtitle">bbb</dd>
<dd class="city">ccc</dd>
<dd class="email">ddd</dd>
<dd class="website">eee</dd>
<dd class="description">fff</dd>
</dl>
if the dt-element in one of the definition lists has a specific css-property (e.g. length > 100px) then the dd-element with the css-class "subtitle" in the same definition list should be removed.

Unfortunately, I have no idea exactly how to turn "Other" into a text box when the user clicks, and I've been spending a lot of time on this already.
