How to prevent Javascript Menu from getting hidden under Flash Video (SWFObject ).
I am using Open Flash Chart and the chart is displaying fine in my php shoppping cart, but my javascript menu is getting hidden behind the Flash Chart.
I've run into a problem on a particular project, and it seems to be browser specific. [code]...
Now, this works all fine and dandy in Firefox and Safari, but in the IE's, it will switch properly, but if you switch while in the middle of a movie playing and then switch back to it, the video is paused at the spot where the switch happened and will not play again. That does not happen in Firefox or Safari. Your thoughts? Is this just a cache thing with IE that can't be worked around?
there is some kind of flash rotator on the home page. This is my code attempt to move between preloaded swf animations using javascript. I've tried giving id of the object or embed but this won't help. Of course this is not that simple and the code isn't working. My intent is to have animation change when clicking the next button.
<html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var flashNumber = 0; var items = 3; [Code]....
is it possibile to detect and prevent through javascript the opening of a new window caused by a embedded flash object? In the html code this embedded object resides within a given div with id.
I would want to know about it because every time I open the page, the flash embedded object opens another window, and it is a little bit noisy.
The purpose of the code is to slideToggle open one of two hidden sub-nav bars when either of two different menu items are clicked upon - instead of a drop down menu. What doesn't work is the hiding of the div that is not required, if it is already open. Viewing in firebug shows that the appropriate classes are being applied - I suspect the reason is that slideToggle has been somehow set and cannot be unset via another object - but perhaps that is not it at all?
$(document).ready(function() { //add .toggle function to appropriate li element $('#hozmenu li:nth-child(4)').toggle(function () { //set 4th menu links colour to be green whilst div is shown $('#hozmenu li:nth-child(4) a').css('color', '#95d890'); $('#toggle_nav_services').removeClass('toggle_show'); [Code]....
Ok so I'm using FxMenu 4.1.1 on my website at the moment. I figured that I wanted to keep the menu static so it wouldnt ahve to reload everytime someone clicked on page. I made a 3-framed framset with a header,center, and a footer. The center consists of the menu and an iframe. The pages that load from clicked on the menu items load in the iframe. Here's my problem: if I load a flash movie or whatever in the iframe it overlaps the menu. Code:
I'm new to the jQuery realm but have been messing with it quite a bit lately. What i'm looking to do is to replicate this menu without Flash:Horizontal Menu(not exactly but in general, where the menu stays on the side and follows the mouse up and down which has additional navigation in it once rolled over.)
I've done extensive Googling and have yet to come across an example or tutorial or jQuery plugin on how to do something along those lines. Do any of you have a link to a tutorial and/or example of this being done with jQuery or alike?
i am using brother cake drop down menu script for my college website, however below the drop down menu is a flash, the problem is the drop down menu cannot shown over the flash area, it appears as being cut, any body can help me?
I've been using the very cool Transmenu javascript drop down menu that I heard about on this forum. Below the menu is a flash movie that I set to 'transparent' so that the menu will display on top of the movie. This works GREAT on internet explorer, however I've recently become a big fan of firefox and the menu still seems to fall behind the flash movie in that browser.
Has anyone had experience with this issue? I could really use a solution here to get the menu to display on top of the flash.
I'm having a problem with a (like the subject line state) a flash animation that covers up my dropdown menu. When I remove the animation, you can see the menu....my question is, why does that happen, and how do I fix it? Code:
i have made a popup menu in fireworks cs3 its working fine in all browsers the problem is that its hiding under the flash features bar as shown in the image where in firefox its working fine what should i do?
I have a problem with a drop down menu showing behind image slider (not flash), as the menu shows up behind the large image slider [URL]It only happens in FireFox.....
In internet explorer I have no problems. I literally just taught myself flash so I am hoping there is an easy fix that I am not finding. I did not design or create the template for the original site, I am just upgrading and adding features to improve what was already there.
I want to implement a little JavaScript that allows the picture to be swapped for a virtual tour, a QuickTime mov file. Here is the syntax for the test.mov file that should replace the test.gif
Now you probably say .... listen dude, check out the 101 postings on swapping images..... Well, just to make it a little more complicated, I want to add the HOTSPOT functionality. When you make the QuickTime movie (virtual tour - aka 360 view), you can identify hot spots. These are basically areas that the user can click on to get the next virtual tour / movie. Now, in test.mov, there is a hotspot66, when you click on it,you are supposed to link through to NewMovie.html (which would contain NewMovie.mov), but I want the same file to remain on the screen and NewMovie.mov to be placed into the image area.
Seems that we have moved (prematurely of course) to JavaScript 102....
I have a webpage with thumbnail images that I want to be able to click on to play associated Quicktime movie files in either IE or Netscape. I'm having difficulty finding any HTML or Javascript code for doing this, and was wondering if this is not an easy thing to do. Is there some special code needed for detecting Netscape Quicktime plugins, and what about IE?
I just came across this site the other day and fell in love with the simple hidden menu that shows up when scrolling past the header. I took a look at the code but can't really figure out how this is implimented.

how to create a similar effect? I'd love to adapt this technique.
Here is a quick menu hidden in a Mouse Gesture for additional navigation on a site or administraitive duties.
To activate the menu simply right click anywhere on the screen , hold the button down, then move the mouse down 50px's and release. This will display the hidden menu.
There are two parts to it, first the Style and Script....
<style> .expanded { position:absolute; padding:1px; font:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:left; background-color:#D4D0C8; width:150px; border-left :2px solid #FFFFFF; border-top :2px solid #FFFFFF; border-right :2px solid #999999; border-bottom : 2px solid #999999; } a.expanda { padding-left:15px; padding-right:15px; display:block; text-decoration:none; color:#000000; } a.expanda:hover { background-color:#003366; color:#FFFFFF; } </style> <script language="javascript"> document.oncontextmenu = null; document.onmousedown = doDown; document.onmouseup = doUp; var timerID = 1; var ly; var ny; var targ; function doDown(e) { clearTimeout(timerID); document.oncontextmenu = null; var rightclick; if (!e) e = window.event if (e.which) rightclick = (e.which == 3); else if (e.button) rightclick = (e.button == 2); try { if (e.target) targ = e.target.getAttribute('id'); else if (e.srcElement) targ = e.srcElement.getAttribute('id'); if (targ != "navlink") {document.getElementById('altnav').style.display = 'none'} } catch(e) { document.getElementById('altnav').style.display = 'none' } if (rightclick != false) { ly = e.clientY; } return false; }
function doUp(e) { var rightclick; if (!e) e = window.event if (e.which) rightclick = (e.which == 3); else if (e.button) rightclick = (e.button == 2); if (rightclick != false) { if (!e) var e = window.event; ny=e.clientY; lytemp = ly+50; if (ny>lytemp) { document.getElementById('altnav').style.display = "block"; document.getElementById('altnav').style.left = e.clientX + 2; document.getElementById('altnav').style.top = ly+2; window.status = "down menu"; document.oncontextmenu = fakecontext; timerID = setTimeout("document.getElementById('altnav').style.display = 'none'", 5000); } } ly = null; ny = null; } function fakecontext(){return false;}; </script>
And the menu div to place inside the body tag. Edit this to act as the menu you would like. Remember that you can access the event.target if you want to have the menu dynamicaly effect things based on whats clicked.
I have this script:URL...that takes latest movies from youtube channel.When you click on the movies below it should load the movie to the playerit works well on Firefox but not on IE or Google Chrome
I have a sql/recordset setup that returns an id number and description.
For example: 4test 7test44 9test123
I then have a drop down list that contains the id numbers. I'd like the recordset to return the matching record for whatever is selected in the drop down list. So if the drop down list equals "4". Then "test" would appear in the value of a hidden form field. If "9" was selected in the combo box then "test123" would be entered into the hidden form field. I'm not sure how to specify the value from the drop down list in my sql statement and also do not know how to update the value when the user changes the drop down list selection.
I am trying to create a basic menu where if you put your mouse over a button you get a bit of descriptive text or an image appearing somewhere else on the page. I have tried to do this with hiding/revealing hidden divs - works fine with IE but no others.
<html> <head> <script language="javascript"> var descriptions = new Array(); descriptions[0] = "<p>See whats been added to the web site recently</p>"; descriptions[1] = "<p>Find out more about me</p>"; descriptions[2] = "<p>Check out me links</p>"; function showDescription(descriptionIndex){ .....
I have a slideshow of quotes based on the "Ultimate Fade-in slideshow (v2.1)" at Dynamic Drive:This is right under my navigation bar, and the drop-down menu items are hidden behind the javascript slideshow.Some background: The reason I did it this way because I first started out with a Flash banner with quotes fading in and out, and I ran into the problem with the drop-down menu items hiding behind the Flash... of course I Googled that and found the solution.But in the meantime I played with the javascript slideshow and it worked better for me because it was easier to add new quotes just within the html, without having to go back and edit the Flash item.Anyway, so is there a solution to the drop-downs being hidden behind the .js slideshow? Or should I go back to the Flash? Or is there some other sort of solution or script that would fit my needs better?
For some reason the dropdown list in my menu becomes hidden underneath the jquery fading images. If i dont fade the image it displays fine. You can check out the issue here[URL].. When you rollover Javascript, the 2 items beneath it become blocked by the images which are fading in the right panel.
I have a html form with two drop down menu's. Now what i need is if some one selects a certain option in the first drop down menu then it will show the second one, Otherwise it stays hidden.
