Onclick Event - Prevent People From Clicking "search" Twice
Jun 15, 2010
I have very intense php script that takes from 5 - 30 seconds to execute, depending on user request. So I want to prevent people from clicking "search" twice, so I decided to glue it by disabling button on click.
Here is my code:
[Code]...
But, for some reason it won't proceed. JS executes fine, but form won't go on. What is wrong?

I'm trying to allow people to download music files, from my web site server, to their desk top, by clicking a button. I don't know if I need html or some kind of script. The page already plays short music clips automaticly with a simple "onload" script I found somewhere--but I don't know how to get the viewer a copy of the music for their mp3 player or disk burner.

I want to prevent an opened window to be closed by clicking the right-top 'X' . Whenever user try to close the window by clicking the right-top 'X', an alert message will be generated and it will not be browser specific.

I use malsups Cycle plugin a lot as it is very versatile, however when I have a pager with a slider and click through to the next slide (whilst current slide is animating) it jolts to the end of the current slide transition before continuing with the next slide transition. Example: [URL]. Ideally, when you click on the next pager link, (before it has finished sliding), it finishes it's animation and scrolls to the next OR slides from it's current point on the current transition to the end of the next slide.

I am using jQuery and blockUI to prevent the user from submitting a form twice by double clicking on the interface: This is in my global js file and is called on every pages
document.ready:
$('form').submit(function(){$.blockUI({message:'', overlayCSS:
{opacity:0.2}})});
This was working really well, but if I have validation on one of the form submits that returns false, I of course want to unblock the UI.

look at this script :
$(function(){
$('input').bind('keypress',null,b).bind('change',null,a);
});
function a(){
[Code].....
this script bind both keypress and change of the text box to functions b and a. at keypress event handler if user type a char on input box the value of input box change to x and the user char discarded. In this case we expected to run the onchange (change) event because the textbox value is changed BUT this doesn't happen.

I have a search page where a user can type in a search box, or they can use an alphabetical list to search for the record they're looking for. Eg they click 'a' and all the records beginning with the letter 'a' appear.
I'd also like to have it so that each record has a number of tags, and I'd then like to be able to filter records according to which tags have been selected - preferably using checkboxes.
For example, perhaps the tags would be colours and the records represented shoes. There'd be checkboxes for blue, yellow, black, brown and so on. At first all colours would be shown, but if the user clicks on brown the all but the brown shoes dissappear.

Ok so I have a menu that has a tab you are able to close, the tab has it's own onclick function and in the top right corner is a link that is an X, to close the tab, which has it's own onclick function also. The Problem is, is that when you click the X, the tab function activates and then the X function activates. Is there any way to prevent this from occuring?

Is it possible disable an onclick after clicking it and then enable it from another onclick by id
<img id="one" href="images/homepage/sliders/bonus_button.jpg" style="position:relative; top:30px; left:50px; height:30px; width:70px; float:left;">
This code runs when it is clicked:
$("#one").click(function() {
runEffectB();
return false;
});
What I would like to happen is for either runEffectB() to not run if it was just run or to disable the #one.click once it has run. I am assuming I will be able to re-enable it from another onclick running a similar function.

I want to make it so that when I click on something, it changes what document.onclick does.
This is a simplified version of what I'm trying to do:
Code:
<div id="clickme" onclick="document.onclick = function(){ alert ('This should not be alerted on the first click'); }">Click here</div>
However, as you'll notice, the alert box shows up on the first click as well. The only way I have been able to get around this behaviour is to have the first onclick execute a timer that will then set the document.onclick after 1ms, however this seems very messy to me.

I'm using a code snippet to have a cursor placed in a form field once a page loads, see the below posted code.The form field in question is located below the fold.The problem is that when the page loads it will scroll the page downwards to show the form field, I don't want that happen. I only want the cursor to appear...not the whole page to scroll downwards when the page loads.what I can do to prevent the page from scrolling downward when using this code?It's happening with similar codes as well that places a cursor inside the form field.I only want the page to scroll downward when the user decides to scroll downward, not because of the cursor placement.

I'd like the text in the search box to disappear when the box is clicked in. Easy, right? I've found several how-to pieces online, and gotten it to work with at least two different methods. However, I found a rather snotty discussion of form semantics that made me wonder: what's the right way to accomplish this, can I tighten up this code to be clean and tidy, and most importantly, can someone explain it to me so I can understand it? Forms tend to leave me confrazzled.

currently on our site we have and expanding <div> that responds to both the onmouseover and onmouseout events. It works wonderfully.
The UX people now would like the expanding <div> to open with the onclick event and then as soon as the mouse leaves the expanded div, it would close. I have tried using the onmouseout event in conjunction the onclick event but it does not work (the div persists).

I am trying to use it to direct users to a search page based on the values of two drop down boxes. The issue i am having is that the code below works fine on a test page, but not on my test domain (with wordpress theme) and so i was wondering whether there is anything I am doing wrong... Is onclick already defined maybe? I'm not sure how it works to be honest... :(
<script type="text/javascript">
function gosearch() {
var breed = document.getElementById('breed').value;
var area = document.getElementById('area').value;
var site = "http://hairloss-help.net/?s=";
var searchurl = site + breed + area;

I have a DOM loaded from a remote site, i cannot alter that page. The DOM has a input:submit in the form that looks something like this:
<FORM NAME="frm1" METHOD="POST" ACTION="ServletController;jsessionid=72CDF83C126FFF9D87821CE9E9B9E860.fre01" onSubmit="return checkFormSubmit();">
<input type="hidden" name="mode" value="apply">
<input type="submit" name="Apply" value="Apply" onClick="return applyClicked();">
</FORM>
I need to replace the default ACTION with an ajax post with the current form data, but I also need to keep the:onClick="return applyClicked(); here is what works, however I cannot get the return applyClicked() to prevent the submit if it is false.
