View 2 RepliesI've noticed that the change event isn't fired on a text input when it's value is changed by JavaScript. It fires just fine when I type in the input and then lose focus. Example:

I have a text area, I want that user's should not be able to enter a charaters in it. I want them to enter only numbers.I have written the code below to do this but it is not working as I think I am not calling the function right way.I am open to new suggestions as well, if I can show some alert to user if they enter character rather than no.

I am using a calendar control based on the one at Brainjar.com. I have made the text field into which the date is inserted readonly. The problem with this is that if a user attempts to change the date manually by deleting part of the highlighted text, the browser goes back one page.
I want to force the user to use the calendar control and not input text directly into the textfield- readonly is not enough as the text can still be highlighted and then causes problems if the user attempts to delete.
I have finally gotten my text to change when the links are clicked, but they switch make immediately, instead of when another link is clicked.I used code 'jscheuer1' posted on dynamicdrive which worked beautifully on the test page. When I attempted to adapt it to my site, the above happened.

I have content that loads into a div and in every browser except IE it renders fine. In the wonderful IE it comes in jagged...sometimes it "snaps" after and looks normal but for the most part its all jagged. The page is a white bg with text rendering into of it. How can I fix this so it looks normal? </SPAN></FONT></DIV>
I am needing a function that takes an id and then dynamically changes the text color for the element with that id. Any takers?

I think I'll have to programmatically delete the extra letter(s) that user just input somehow if the addition causes a violation of the rule, is this the best way?

I have used the live() event to trigger the function on mouseover in the dynamically added elements. But the problem i got is that once the live event is called it takes the class of the element and stores. And when the class of that particular element is changed dynamically the live() event does not detect the new classed added dynamically, instead it takes the former class. Live() event does not update the class.
Is there a generic way to fire an event when the state/value of a checkbox is changed by another event - i.e. not a user action. In this scenario, I have a set of checkboxes with a "select all" checkbox. I have the code written such that checking or unchecking the "select all" checkbox updates the state of all of the checkboxes below.
The extra requirement here is that some of these checkboxes have "children". So, when you check one of these, its children are automatically checked as well. So, what I need to do is check the main "select all" checkbox, which would then check all of the immediate children, which would then check all of their immediate children. I tried both an onchange and onclick event, but neither seem to be firing.

I'm working on implementing watermark in datepicker text field (JQuery V1.8.9). I have a datepicker field with watermark set (dd/mm/yyyy). Watermark text displaying in gray color. When I select a date, the text field still having the gray color instead of changing to black color. but, when i key in the date and focus out, it's working fine. Also, this is working fine in Chrome but not with Firefox. I'm not sure the exact cause...

When I have focus on my input I diplay a message to guide the user, when the event blur happens I check if the input contains a valide date and display an alert when it's wrong, but the blur is launched even when the user clicks on the calendar of datepicker, so the alert message is displayed which isn't supposed to happen
I'm looking for a way to wait for the user to select a date before executing the blur, or at the blur event check if the calendar is open or closed before doing any control
I'm desinging a graphical interface and I frequently take advantage of the double click event. Unfortunately in most browsers double clicking also involves selecting and I would like to avoid that since whatever is selected has dark blue background and white letters what spoils the whole visual effect.... Any way I can block it por avoid it?

In this case we expected to run the onchange (change) event because the textbox value is changed BUT this doesn't happen.

I'm putting together a site for a pal's band. I've got a sliding div that slides up when a link (with text) is clicked and back down when the link is clicked using:

and some corresponding CSS. What I'd like to do is make the link that triggers the event to change text whenever the div is visible and change back when it returns to hidden (like "show div" / "hide div").
I'm trying to change a word in an animated collapsible div script from Dynamic Drive. When clicking "Hide" I want the word to change to "Show". I have part of the script, but it's not working correctly - it just removes "Hide" when clicking on it. See the example here.

if you click "Next" a number of times quickly, it stores all the clicks in a queue and will continue to run all the clicks way after u finished clicking, how can i prevent another event being added to a queue while an event is running?
