I want to toggle the next sibling of a link in a list like this,

first of all, it seems fine - I can toggle the targeted sibling, but why after the first toggle at any parent, I have to click twice sometime to hide other siblings when I click/ toggle at the current parent? [URL]
I am trying to make this list of cd's work. The letters will have the bands listed under them and then when each band will be clicked on a selection of albums by them will appear. I've so far managed to make all of them appear when it is clicked but can't seem to make only albums for those bands appear they all do.

I'm trying to toggle the on and off class on list items but having issues it working.
I only want the 'on' class on the element that is clicked. So if another element in the list is clicked it removes the 'on' class from the one that had it to the one that has been clicked.

I have a nested lists which contain city names, and then level 2 is businesses in that city. those are hidden by default so that when you click on the city name the businesses will slideToggle down. What would be the correct script to enable this.I have the effect working, but when I click on any of my top level anchors all of the nested items toggle. I want each city's businesses to act independently from each other.

I have just started out in jquery and thought it would be cool to add some effects to my football clubs site.
I have a players page with a list of players. In the past each player link would open a new individual profile page. This was not ideal.
Now i want to create a list of players names that show a small bio below their names when their link is clicked.
I have created some code but it just shows the bio of all players when a link is clicked. There are lots of links so repeating all the code with unique id's i believe is not the best solution.[code]...
I'm using the jquery.treeview plugin to build an outline. Each element within the outline has a link to the side of it that runs a javascript function. I'd like to have users click on this without triggering the toggle of the element. Below is a very simple html file that shows the problem- each element has a [+] to the side of it- when you click on that link, in addition to the alert, the group will expand or contract. Any ideas how to suppress that when clicking on the [+], but allow it when clicking on
the text itself?

I've just recently become enlightened by jQuery and would like to add it to my site, but I'm having a little trouble. I made this basic function:

To give an example of its use:

The panel is displayed correctly, but the classname of the link isn't toggled between "plus" and "minus."
I have ran into an issue, where the toggle() on a link is not toggling between the two.

When I click Existing members, it dissapears and Close Login appears. When I click Clos Login panel it dissapears but Existing Members does not re-appear.
I have tried using toggleClass() as well as using :hidden & :visible selectors. I am at wits end.

i am trying to implent a references site. the idea is that you have 1 html site with a list likereference 1reference 2reference 3 ..... with clickable links underneath.
then you have an element centered or somewhere else on the site (e.g. defined as a div area)
now if you click on reference 1, the centerde div should fade in the text, maybe with pictures too. if you click on reference20, the centered div you fade out and the content of reference 20 should fade in an the exact same place.

I am trying to create a Link that changes its currently displayed text and also toggles the css.display property from inline to hidden. I'm sure there are solution outs there btu I have not been able to find one that does both functions with one click properly and is also easy to implement for people not as familiar with html and javascript. Obviously I am trying to create a show more, show less type link. currently this often shared code works fine to change the current state of the target ID's css.display from none to inline. My end goal is to be able to not only toggle the display of the LONG1 div but to also change the innerhtml of 'short1' from "Show More" to "Show Less".I am still learning about JS so Im really rough around the edges. I tried some different techniques btu I dont ahev them posted on my work pc.

I am using an ASP.NET Repeater control to create N number of code patterns similar to that above. The server code leads the input controls based on DB values. I want to default the second table to be hidden if the checkbox is blank (not checked) and shown if it is checked. I also want to duplicate this behavior on the click of the checkbox.
I would like to achieve the following... I have the following list:

Now, I'd like to remove the link from the "Second main" because it has a submenu. I know that I can get that exact item using $("ul.sub-menu").parent() but how do I unwrap the link in it?
I've made a function for getting a ID for each sibling in a tree. Lets look at this DOM:

Here is the function:

And here is how I use it:

Is there a more elegant way to get the same result? The work done in the getSiblingId-function has a lot of overehead.
I have an unordered list element which has click events registered. What i want is to be able to find the nth relative sibling to the list item that is clicked. In prototype I can simply say $(elm).next(3) or $(elm).previous(3) for the 3rd sibling forwards or backwards from the current sibling.
In JQuery there doesn't seem to be a way of getting a sibling relative to the current one, other than the immediate next() or prev(). So if I want the third previous I have to do this inJQuery

I made a table with some customer information. It holds an id (hidden for the users), a company name, a phone number, an e-mail address and so on.
Inside every table row, I've made a "delete" button that should delete the relevant row in that table (see "<td class="delete">"). What I would like to do is getting the customer id that is hidden inside the first (hidden) <td> of the table row you wish to delete. I'm quite new to jQuery and I realy can't find a sollution for it. Here's my HTML [code]...
The alerts are working fine I guess. I've got something like "[object Object]" for the first alert and "object HTMLTableCellElement]" for the second alert. The other 2 testrules don't work. Firebug gave me the error message "$(this).parent().children("td")[4].text is not a function", but for now, I realy don't know what I'm doing (wrong) in those last 2 rules. Anyone who could help me out with this newbie problem about parent, child and/or sibling elements?
