I'm buildning a permissions system. If the database check shows that the user doesn't have access to the PHP script she tries to access, I want to diplay an alert window telling her so. And when she presses the "OK"-button, I want the browser to send here back to the previous page that she came from.
Is this a javascript problem? Is there a quick and dirty solution?
I'm just starting up in web design and I have an interesting challenge that I'm hoping can be solved w/java script. I have a site with an application form. When the form is to be submitted, the form data needs to be emailed to the correct person to handle that particular application. However, that can't be determined by anything specific in the form. It can only be determined by the link that they clicked on to get to the form. I really don't want to have 22 identical forms with just a different EmailTo addie, which is what the previous site developer did. Someone please tell me this can be done w/java script? If not w/java script
I'd want that: at the first user's click on the #register div, the div #registerForm become visible, it should remains visible also when the user click the submit button within and it should disappear if the user click a second time on the #register.I partially solved my problems with this:
var m = new Month; m.setMonth(m.getMonth() - (m.getDay())); var monthnow = new Date(); monthnow.setMonth(0); monthnow.getMonth() document.write("Week of "+ m.getMonth()); document.write(", 2009."); //document.write(+ now.getMonth());
Trying to return the month of the month of last Sunday. So if today is Sunday, will return today's month.
I'm using a little javascript to help my site's design to fit the visitor's entire browser window. Everything works great apart from one problem. If a visitor first loads the page and the browser isn't maximised, the page loads correctly BUT if the visitor then proceeds to maximize the browser, the page is still set for the minimised browser. This condition stays until the visitor goes to another section of the site or refreshes the page. When this happens, the page again loads correctly.
I would like to force a page reload whenever the browser is minimizedmaximized or is in any other way changed size. How can I do this?
I'm trying to write a shopping basket in ASP and I need to force the user to choose one or more "Option" radio button(s) before allowing the form to submit.
I want the user to HAVE to choose a colour and size from the above options before the form will submit or else they will get a Javascript popup message asking them to make a choice. (There may also be more/less options so it needs to be dynamic)
I know ASP inside out but very little knowledge of Javascript so once i have the basics of how to do it I can make the code dynamic. There will be a maximum of 5 "Options" for a product and a maximum of 6 choices for each Option.
please i want to know if there is a possibility to force the user to type English characters coz i made all my web site in arabic and germany languages i want to force user to type the username and password in English characters
I have a small piece of code (taken largely from W3 Schools)that checks that there is a decimal point entered in a form field, but what I really need is to check that the number entered ends in 2 decimal places.
e.g. 10 is Invalid 10.00 is Valid
My current code is below. Can someone explain what I need to do to ensure that the user enters a number including two trailing decimal places please?
We have links on our website that point directly to Excel spreadsheet files on our server. When the user clicks a link, It will display a dialog, asking if the user wants to Open or Save the file (standard browser procedure). I want to provide the same functionality, but with a dynamically created file.
For example, instead of a link, the screen will have a button. If the user clicks the button, a CSV file will be created and stored on the server. I then want to be able to immediately "download" that file, as if it were a link on the page and the user clicked it. So, they would then be shown the Open/Save dialog to give them the option to view or download the file.
I have a script that parses window.location.hash to figure out which xml file to load. The xml files populate a page on a framed site. The code works correctly to a point.
If I have a seperate html page to support each xml it works. I would like to eliminate the individual html pages becuase only one should be needed.
When I use one page the first link works, then the second one does nothing (doesn't refresh the frame). If I click to a static image for the frame then click the next xml link it works.
What can I do to force the frame to update? I am clicking on a HREF link that should re-load the html page, but with the new xml data.
If I try to put a site into an iframe that has "escape frame" code in its source (posted below), it will reload the requested page into the parent instead of the iframe. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
One could use onunload to stop the redirection, but I would like to find a way to load a page into an iframe, even if it has this type of code.
I have considered server code loading the content and re-displaying it but I would like to find a pre javascript solution.
//this is not my code if (self != top) { if (document.images) { top.location.replace(window.location.href); } else { top.location.href = window.location.href; } }
I've got a web site that is frequently updated; yesterday several subscribers contacted me to say they couldn't see the update. I suspect this is a cache problem, so is there a way to force a page to be reloaded when it is changed. I realize it is too late for the current pages, but I'd like to include something later.
I am having a problem of calling the user defined JS function after I make the AJAX call. Basically, I created couple radio buttons on the main html page. When the user clicks on one of the radio button, it will trigger the AJAX call and return another html file in the "div" content that I set in the main html page. The other html file contains a user defined JS function (e.g. "updateContent()") which use the onclick event handler to call the function. When I'm running the app, and click on the button. I had seen the firebug was complaining the "updateContent() is not defined" error. The function itself works fine and must be defined properly.
Here is the code in the main.html page:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript"> var asyncRequest; function getTools(url){ try

malsup has kindly created this progressbar but hasn't explained how to implement it into his cycle plugin. [URL] I am trying to get the progressbar to reset if the user clicks next/previous slide. what I am using:
I've a small external .JS library that allows a non code-savvy user to occasionally update a list of values that are read as a JS array and used to populate the <option>s of a <select> in the calling page's form.
Anyway, is there a way by which I can ensure, regardless of the user's browser settings, that the JS library is not used from cache but re-read each time, to ensure the up to date list is used?
If not, I might as well put the JS array code back in the calling page, especially as the split is for ease of use by the page's owner, albeit with increased change of editing errors. A database solution, etc., is inappropriate here.
I have page A that redirects to page B. Now I want to go back to the page I came from(Page A). Using javascript:history.go(-1)"> I can go back but not in FireFox , It by pass the previous page. How can I solve this problem. Is there a way to get previous page URL
I would like to expire my session when a person enters different url in the navigator bar other than my url and comes back to my url.

How do I force the Web page to reload when someone just changes the value in the dropped down list? To be clear there are many items in this form, one of which is a dropped down list, but if they choose to certain rows of this drop down list then new fields/data needs to be presented to the user.And of course change the Web page to re-load new values based on what row in the dropped down list they changed to.
I'm -very- green when it comes to Javascript, but I'm working my way up. The problem right now I'm running in to now is when trying to implement a website function that allows two buttons (previous, and next) to do their respective tasks.
I can get the script to go forward and back, however when I jump to another page in the frame (this is all through iframes), when clicking either button, it will take me to the last page I had stopped on. A little hard to explain, but maybe seeing the code will give you a better idea.
<script type="text/javascript"> var pNum=0; var maxPage=10; function next() { pNum++; if (pNum > maxPage) pNum=10;
[Code]...
It's nothing fancy, but it's apparently keeping the last page it was on in memory instead of resetting itself, so when I go back to the start page it starts on page 0 and goes to page 10; right now I can stop on page 5, click a link to go back to the starting default page, and when using the 'next page' button it will start on 6 and go from there.
does any one have any idea how to go back to a calling (previous page) from the present one you are in;
1. without clicking the 'back' button on the toolbar
2. and still retain the values that a user already filled in in the previous page you are returning to (i.e. - the user should not have to fill in the values afresh)
3. maybe using the on click event of a button, or any other method.
I have to come up with a user authenication page the logs the user in and also gives them access to do the right things. I have attached the code and the access file and have got started on a few things.I first need to create a login page with the fields username and password have that check the access database and then proceed it to a page to do the following depending on the user access. For The Login button to even be enabled the username and password must have a value in it. I have no idea how to do that

I want to have a big image and say 5 small thumbnails underneath. When the user clicks a thumbnail, the image loads where the previous big image was. Is there a standard way to do this?
