Force Reload After User Changes Browser Size
Jul 20, 2005
I'm using a little javascript to help my site's design to fit the visitor's entire browser window.
Everything works great apart from one problem. If a visitor first loads the page and the browser isn't maximised, the page loads correctly BUT if the visitor then proceeds to maximize the browser, the page is still set for the minimised browser. This condition stays until the visitor goes to another section of the site or refreshes the page. When this happens, the page again loads correctly.
I would like to force a page reload whenever the browser is minimizedmaximized or is in any other way changed size. How can I do this?

I'm looking for nice solution to handle file downloads. The problem with classic link in is that in case of missing file, the main browser window is reloaded with 404 error, but I'd like to present to user a popup message without reload of main browser window.

I have a page A which contains an iframe B which gets loaded with content as the page loads Page A has a link. When the link is clicked, I invoke some JavaScript function which performs some tests, and then I would like to have my iframe reload some other URL
The problem is that I change the iframe's src attribute to the new URL but nothing happens. The iframe isn't reloading.
How can I force it to reload? I heard that it was a problem in IE but that could be a mistake on my part It is vital to note that if I clean my browser cache (on IE), then the code works fine once (the iframe gets reloaded). But once it is in the cache, successive attempts fail
Here is a sample of my code
Code:

function test() {
// perform some tests here
[Code]....

I've got a web site that is frequently updated; yesterday several
subscribers contacted me to say they couldn't see the update. I suspect
this is a cache problem, so is there a way to force a page to be
reloaded when it is changed. I realize it is too late for the current
pages, but I'd like to include something later.

I've a small external .JS library that allows a non code-savvy user to
occasionally update a list of values that are read as a JS array and
used to populate the s of a in the calling page's form.
Anyway, is there a way by which I can ensure, regardless of the user's
browser settings, that the JS library is not used from cache but re-read
each time, to ensure the up to date list is used?
If not, I might as well put the JS array code back in the calling page,
especially as the split is for ease of use by the page's owner, albeit
with increased change of editing errors. A database solution, etc., is
inappropriate here.

How do I force the Web page to reload when someone just changes the value in the dropped down list? To be clear there are many items in this form, one of which is a dropped down list, but if they choose to certain rows of this drop down list then new fields/data needs to be presented to the user.And of course change the Web page to re-load new values based on what row in the dropped down list they changed to.

When users manually minimize the website window I need the window to minimize up to a certain point and go no further. for example I need the minimum window size to stop at 800 x 600 and get stuck there even if a user tries to minimize it further.
The code that I am trying to play around with is the following with onresize function but I am not sure how to make it give me what I need.
Code:

In my case, I always want the center column to define the height for the left & right columns. SO... this means
(1) I need to wrap my center column with

.
(2) I need to modify the portion below so that it will write my side columns (wrapped with

) to the same height.
Code JavaScript:
// assign all divs the height of the tallest div
for(var i=0;i<contDivs.length;i++){
contDivs[i].style.height=maxHeight + "px";
}
Javascript is not my specialty at all, and I'm hoping to rework this to write the sideheight style instead of fixheight.

I assume I could use the setTimeout function and keep re-setting it whenever the mouse is moved.

I'm buildning a permissions system. If the database check shows that the user doesn't have access to the PHP script she tries to access, I want to diplay an alert window telling her so. And when she presses the "OK"-button, I want the browser to send here back to the previous page that she came from.
Is this a javascript problem? Is there a quick and dirty solution?

Is there a javascript or jQuery method available to force the browser to render the contents of the window? This would something similar to updating the "stage" in Director or Flash.I have a two-column interaction set up where users input information in one column and see their results in another. Safari, Firefox, etc all work perfectly. IE however needs an extra click anywhere on the browser window for the results to appear. So I'm looking for a way to attach a function to a UI control that 'forces' IE to render the screen so the changes appear.

I'm trying to write a shopping basket in ASP and I need to force the user to choose one or more "Option" radio button(s) before allowing the form to submit.
For example:
Red
Blue
Green
Small
Medium
Large
I want the user to HAVE to choose a colour and size from the above options before the form will submit or else they will get a Javascript popup message asking them to make a choice. (There may also be more/less options so it needs to be dynamic)
I know ASP inside out but very little knowledge of Javascript so once i have the basics of how to do it I can make the code dynamic. There will be a maximum of 5 "Options" for a product and a maximum of 6 choices for each Option.

I have a piece of JavaScript code that uses the location.Reload method to reload a form that has a textbox and radio control. Both are supposed to contain the same random number. When a button is Clicked, the location.Reload method is called and everything updates as expected. However, the BROWSER Refresh button only repopulates the dynamically generated radio button. The text box retains the old value.

I need some script to force the browser to reload/refresh when a page is reached from the back button.
EG You're on page A -> You click a link onto page B -> You Press Browser back to go onto Page A, it has old content that requires a reload.
Now, my page is currently php so I won't bother with my code here as I am looking for any solution (I have also posted in php forum).
Any JS solution that will trigger a reload on browser back is appreciated. I have tried a few ideas, most work in Chrome, IE always works, Firefox 4 and Opera 11 wont reload, simply fetching from cache I believe.

I want to display three sets of images on a Web page, and I want to use only one jcarousel to do it. I want to change the list of images based on the user clicking on one of three links, each representing a set of images. How do I do this? I know I can edit the DOM to modify the list of items, but how do I call jcarousel's reload() function? I thought of using three instances of jcarousel, but that takes up too much screen space and requires the user to scroll too much.

I am trying to trigger an event once the user clicks the browsers back/forward buttons, I have built a system just like facebook where if the user has javascript turned on they get the full feature of the site which includes fast switching for example if someone goes to this page "example.com/index.php" and click a link to contact.php it would change the url to "example.com/index.php#!/contact.php" but what I need to know is if there is any way to change the pages content when the user goes back and forth through the fast switch pages? something like "history.back !== -1" or something like that.
