Force User To Input 2 Decimal Places In Form Field

Jun 17, 2010

I have a small piece of code (taken largely from W3 Schools)that checks that there is a decimal point entered in a form field, but what I really need is to check that the number entered ends in 2 decimal places.

e.g.
10 is Invalid
10.00 is Valid

My current code is below. Can someone explain what I need to do to ensure that the user enters a number including two trailing decimal places please?

Enforce The Use Of 3 Decimal Places In An Input

Apr 1, 2011

I am looking to enforce the use of 3 decimal places in an input. I have found some scripts that do this, however, I also want to format it this way in case someone enters LESS than 3 decimal places. If a user enters 1.25, I want it formatted as 1.250 If a user enters 1 I want it formatted as 1.000 etc.

Limit It To Only 2 Decimal Places Like 95.44?

Jul 27, 2007

If I get a percentage result on a form, for example: 95.44186046511628

Is there a way I can limit it to only 2 decimal places like 95.44? It won't always be 95.44186046511628, so it just wouldn't apply to just that one percentage. I need it to only have 2 decimal places with whatever the value is.

Round Up 2 Decimal Places

Nov 17, 2011

I am trying to use the following javascript [URL] to create something similar to the example on [URL] for a school project but I wondered if someone could advise me how I can round numbers to 2 decimal places in the field box as I have to convert the calculated value by an exchange rate, e.g.:

where x=100 and y=50
calculate="(x+y)/1.55"

returns a value of 96.77419355. I would like to round this figure up to 2 decimal places so it would read 96.77 but I cannot figure out how to do this.

My javascripting is getting there, I have been learning for the last week and I have produced a working script however im getting stuck with how you round a variable (stored user input) up to the nearest whole number to 2 decimals I have looked at many tutorials and I think that the math.round has to be used somewhere but I cannot work out the syntax to integrate it into my code because everywhere I have looked seems to be using document.write syntax:

Pass User Input From A Form To One Database Field Using Several Form Elements

May 4, 2009

I need to pass user input from a form to one database field. I'm relatively new to JS but the idea I had was to have several form elements and use JS to collect the users input and send all the values through a hidden element. What's happening is the variable names are being sent rather than the values. The code below is only passing to the next page. Limitations: I am editing an intranet site built by a 3rd party so a lot of the files we've been given are encrypted. I cannot change the method to post.

If User Types In The Correct Info Into An Input Field - Then Show A Submit Button

Jul 2, 2009

I'd like to create a quick and dirty validation method for a form. It's not meant to be very secure.

The way I picture it working is this - there is an input field that asks for a password. If the user types in the password correctly, the "submit" div tag will change from "none" to "block". , which will display the submit button. I just am not familiar with JS enough to know if that's possible.

Here's what I'm starting with:

JQuery :: Add Fixed Value To Form Input And Send To Separate Form Field

Jun 3, 2011

I've have a function to take the value entered in a form text box, add 50 to it and put the result in another text box.

When I enter 650.5 I get 700.5 exactly how I'd expect. But when I enter -650.5 instead of getting -600.5 I get -650.050 as though it is failing to parse the float due to it being negative. My understanding of parseFloat was that it recognises negative numbers. Is there a nice simple way to get this to work?

Adjusting Form Based On User Input

Feb 3, 2001

This is probably easy, but I flipped through the first 100 posts and couldn't find a similar question.

I would like to set up a form with multiple radio boxes in a table. The first row containing two selections, second containing 2..... Once the 1st row/column is selected, the 1st row/2nd column automatically displays the information from the first selection.

I am not necessarily looking for exact code on how to do this, just reference points to go to, and preferably suggestions on the best(meaning quickest) language to do this with.
