Drop Down Boxes Return To Default When Adding More Content With InnerHTML?
Jan 26, 2010
I am adding drop down boxes to a div using javascript on a user action, if these boxes are assigned a value by the user then the user adds more boxes the values previously selected are cleared.
It does not happen if an option is selected in the HTML when the page is loaded.
I have everything set up and working correctly as I need it to, however, I am not figuring out how to reset a dynamically updated DIV to its original content.
Basically, I have a DIV that has some HTML in it - just text. I then use a JS function to change that text, using
document.getElementById('sidebar_div').innerHTML = "Then my new html here";
This works fine. In the HTML that I replace above I have a button at the end that, when pressed, is intended to reset the sidebar_div back to its original content. I realize that I could probably just use same syntax as above, and just replace the newly created html with the original html, but this is probably not the best method.
What is the correct code to reset the DIV back to its original content? I was trying to use the removeChild() code, but could not figure out how (and if) that would work.
I have a javascript function for DOM scripting Its a search with certain Nodes which by Default is checked upon clicking the submit button it shows results in a diff table
The problem is that it works perfectly fine in Mozilla ,Firefox but Not Internet Explorer. The check boxes next to the Nodenames are not checked and the search does not display the results in a table. however it works perfectly fine in Mozilla browser. In IE it shows an error with 'a object required' for checked boxes . As i think, It s coming from the save search option function, i am not sure if i have to create another object for calling the .checked operation in the search table Code:
This works perfectly. Now the mail combo have a option value="0" with title "Please select one" so if not change happen then the second combo never is activated. How when the user select the first option "Please select one" in the main combo (#manufacturer_id) I can disable the second combo?
In FF the above code will alert "<b>hello</b>" but in IE is alerts the whole TR element code. So why is FF not showing the whole code and what can be done to get the whole TR element code?
Here's what I'm trying to do is...If you select a color, then select a shape, the color option would return to the 'selected' position.If you select a shape, then select a size, the shape option would return to the 'selected' position and so on. The end result is I would like to have only one item selected from one of the select boxes, with the other two select boxes returned to the selected position.The code is presented here.
I want to have a bracket page, so you can chose from two options, and then two chosen people are paried to face off... espn.com has a bracket for the sexiest athlete right now - something like that. What I want is drop down box 1A to have two options. When one option is chosen, it is added to box 2A. The user would also chose one of two options from 1B. That choice would also be added to 2A. Then I need this to recursively work for N number of rounds, and the total to start would be 2^N.
when a user clicks a radio button, javascipt populates the next drop-down depending on which radio button they clicked. This then happens to a next drop-down list. Code:
I am having trouble with adding a dynamic form to a DIV through innerHTML.It is a Paypal BuyNow button where the values change according to the thumbnail previously selected.I imagine the syntax is wrong... Is this something even possible?
What advantage does adding elements via document.createElement have over writing markup naturally with innerHTML?
[Code]...
The latter method has much more overhead and is considerably more difficult to write with. However, there must be an advantage of some sort to doing it this way, but it's not exactly clear to me why.
I have a large form, that has text boxes of numbers in rows and columns. I need to sum the values in the columns, and put the total at the bottom of the column. But I also need to sum the values in each row, and put the total at the end of the row.
What is the javascript to sum the values to a few text boxes, and how would I write the script for these totals to run all at once?
My javascript at the moment allows me to enter digits into textboxes, with the result of them all being put totalled up in a seperate box.
However, the numbers inputted are referring to money. This means that some users may put commas or full stops in. Does anyone know how I can parse such punctuation, so javascript just reads it as a full number without the commas etc. As it stands I just get a NaN error.
I am trying to take the values of 2 or more select boxes, add them together and then update a text field each time a selection in one of the select boxes is made. Basically, I am trying to keep a running total.
Currently I have it set up so that onchange it grabs the selected value. The problem is that it is being processed as a string I believe. For instance, if there are two variables, a=111 and b=222, the output in the text field reads 111222. I tried using parseInt, but that just returns NaN (not a number?...just a guess).
I have seen this solved with if statements, grabbing the selected index # and then assigning an integer, but I am hoping there is an easier way.
im wanting to add check boxes up to create a total sum at bottom of the form or anywhere for that matter.im wanting to add the values up of the check boxes and then the total amount of checked boxes appears in the total amount. also ive been trying to get it when you uncheck a box the amount goes away from the total amount.here is what ive got
<script type="text/javascript"> function initialize(){ Total = 0;
I'm a complete beginner to JS and have been playing around with a few test projects but I am stuck with one particular part.It simply creates a new text box if you press the Add Text Box button, and removes the text box if you press the Remove Text Box button.What I want to do now is add a usable value to each text box (e.g. the first text box will have the value "tb1", the second "tb2" and so on - so that I can post the data to use it further on.
I have the following page [URL] and I would like to add a button or checkbox to check/uncheck all. Note we are already using some javascript for custom checkboxes so it needs to integrate with that.
Here is the current javascript... /* Custom Form Element [URL]
The only thing you need to change in this file is the following variables: checkboxHeight, radioHeight and selectWidth. Replace the first two numbers with the height of the checkbox and radio button. The actual height of both the checkbox and radio images should be 4 times the height of these two variables. The selectWidth value should be the width of your select list image. You may need to adjust your images a bit if there is a slight vertical movement during the different stages of the button activation.
Visit [URL] for more information. */ var checkboxHeight = "47"; var radioHeight = "25"; var selectWidth = "190"; /* No need to change anything after this */ document.write('<style type="text/css">input.styled { display: none; } select.styled { position: relative; width: ' + selectWidth + 'px; opacity: 0; filter: alpha(opacity=0); z-index: 5; }</style>'); .....
I need to check that a user's birthday has been filled out completely, using drop down menus. I can validate each of the menus individually (see code below), but what i really want to do is make one check that all three are selected so that I don't have 3 extra error labels.
I'm trying to create a drop down menu with four different boxes. The site I'm working on is basically an ecommerce site, so I'll use cars as a good example for what I want to do.
Let's say that I'm selling cars and want to target the buyer directly, then I would have the following boxes, each one serving as a dependent of the one before it:
1. Pick the brand (BMW, Mercedes, Etc.)
2. Pick the type of car (Sports car, SUV, Mini Van, etc.)
3. Pick the color (blue, green, etc.)
4. Pick the price ($0-$19,999/$19,999-29,999/etc.)
So far I have the first two boxes down by using the following site: [URL]. Now my problem is that the site only allows for the first two boxes to be made, and says that
"the values in box1 are static and printed directly as normal HTML. The corresponding box2 options will also be copied into the HTML as well as the javascript for full functionality."
Being a complete newbie, I have no idea what this means. So I decided to search the internet for an answer and was not able to find one, thus leading me here, which from the looks of it seems like a great forum.
how to connect a third and fourth box that falls into the same hierarchy as the first and the second then I would appreciate.
I got the following script to work the way I want it by adding new text inputs with new name values, but if there is data added and the add button is clicked again everything disappears. Is there any way to keep the data from going AWAL?
I'm creating an online enrolment form for my company, who are a training company. Users enrolling on the course must make three choices - The level of course, the size of course and whether they wish to attend a workshop or study by distance learning. The combination of these three factors will determine the price. I'd like to have the price automatically calculated using javascript and displayed on the form before they submit. Can anyone give me an idea of how to do this?There are three drop down boxes for users to select their course. They are: -
I need a drop down box with numbers 1,2,3,4....listed. When the user selects 2, two text boxes appear below, ajax style ! if they select 3, three boxes etc etc.
I had a nice little system set up that was actually working well. Then I found out that it didn't work in Netscape 4.77/Win. How can I write content inside of a div tag without using innerHTML?
I'm currently working with a bit of javascript to dynamically add <option>s into a select box. My code currently works fine in Internet Explorer, however in Firefox the dropdown only displays the first option in the list, and when clicked the other values aren't displayed.
Here is the code;
//ar_options is an array with the option to be displayed in.
for (count=0; count<number_of_options+1; count++) { document.forms['enquiry'].enquirytype.options[count] = new Option(ar_options[count],ar_options[count]); };
As I said - fine in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox. I did discover some discussions about this, which were talking about an issue and workarounds but I couldn't get any of them to work. I have also tried simply using the document.write() function to output the HTML in the correct place. However this is just hte same, works in IE but not Firefox.
