To validate its input, I need to know how many text boxes are in the form.

I'm sure that's completely wrong but there has to be a way to count the number of elements in a form.
I'm creating an online enrolment form for my company, who are a training company. Users enrolling on the course must make three choices - The level of course, the size of course and whether they wish to attend a workshop or study by distance learning. The combination of these three factors will determine the price. I'd like to have the price automatically calculated using javascript and displayed on the form before they submit. Can anyone give me an idea of how to do this?There are three drop down boxes for users to select their course. They are: -
Level of Qualification:
Level 3
Level 4

I have a form with some checkboxes and I would like to submit it(through jquery) only if at least 1 checkbox is checked, otherwise Iwant to display an alert message.How can I get the number of checked boxes?I tried $("INPUT[type='checkbox']").is(':checked')but lookslike it doesn't work.Any ideas about how I can achieve so?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a element when click, it will trigger some other elements to be selected. and those elements will trigger elements in next level.
It is a three levels hierarchy so to speak. but each element will send an ajax request when selected. Those requests will become out of control especially when I repeatedly click the root element.
Can I queue those XHR request in a queue and send them one by one? or maybe add a delay before send so that they can collect their information into one batch request and send one request after that.
I have to input an undefined number of rows of data. Existing data is read from a database. There is an Add button after the last row.
I can see how to add the next row: there is a hidden blank row with visibility set to 'none', which is turned to 'block' by clicking the Add button.
How can I continue to add rows? Do I need to have a large number of invisible rows and turn each one on as required? (I don't want to have to submit the form for each row, which would be another solution).
I have multiple checkboxes. How can I validate the group of check boxes so that a user can only select two. If they try to select more than two, an alert will pop up stating they can only choose two?

I want to have a bracket page, so you can chose from two options, and then two chosen people are paried to face off... espn.com has a bracket for the sexiest athlete right now - something like that. What I want is drop down box 1A to have two options. When one option is chosen, it is added to box 2A. The user would also chose one of two options from 1B. That choice would also be added to 2A. Then I need this to recursively work for N number of rounds, and the total to start would be 2^N.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to develop a code for my sister, i would like to use javascript
to finish off the following task:
1. I want to be able to select marks from 0 to 30, from 5 drop down boxes.
2. and as marks are selected, it should upgrade the total.
3. and then show me the total marks when finished.
i've got up to creating the drop down boxes, now it's just adding the values once selected.
ave this form which gets created by pulling stock/products from a database using PHP and beside every product in the row is a little box for input and in there the user can input the quantity of the product they want. Sometimes only 2 products will be outputted and other times 10 or more.What I want to happen is when the user enters in lets say 3 for the quantity of a certain product I want to get a total for how much 3 of that product will cost so I just do 3 multiply by the cost (which I have from the database) and then display the total cost down under where the list of the available products are and I want all this to happen dynamically obviously not using PHP because I don't want the page to have to reload every time they enter in a new quantity.
I know how to display text and stuff in certain divs with certain ID's using Javascript but I just don't know how to keep track of a form and do what I want to do when the number of inputs in the form can range from 1 to 10 or more. Im thinking of some sort of counter which gives every input a different ID like add 1 at the end of the ID name of the input as the PHP script loops through the database query displaying the products but I still don't know how to go about the Javascript side of things
I have an assignment where I have a drop down list that is created dynamically that uses the content from the h3 tags in the body as the options in addition to the first option being "Show entire script"
The content of the body is actually a screenplay with <h3> and <blockquote>
My goal is to only show the character's (who is selected in the drop down) name and dialogue while hiding the rest of the screenplay
I am not too sure how to go about this at all, but this is what I have so far:
All it does is gets rid of the names of the characters who aren't selected and not the block quotes underneath

I need to check that a user's birthday has been filled out completely, using drop down menus. I can validate each of the menus individually (see code below), but what i really want to do is make one check that all three are selected so that I don't have 3 extra error labels.

I'm trying to create a drop down menu with four different boxes. The site I'm working on is basically an ecommerce site, so I'll use cars as a good example for what I want to do.
Let's say that I'm selling cars and want to target the buyer directly, then I would have the following boxes, each one serving as a dependent of the one before it:
1. Pick the brand (BMW, Mercedes, Etc.)
2. Pick the type of car (Sports car, SUV, Mini Van, etc.)
3. Pick the color (blue, green, etc.)
4. Pick the price ($0-$19,999/$19,999-29,999/etc.)
So far I have the first two boxes down by using the following site: [URL]. Now my problem is that the site only allows for the first two boxes to be made, and says that
"the values in box1 are static and printed directly as normal HTML. The corresponding box2 options will also be copied into the HTML as well as the javascript for full functionality."
Being a complete newbie, I have no idea what this means. So I decided to search the internet for an answer and was not able to find one, thus leading me here, which from the looks of it seems like a great forum.
how to connect a third and fourth box that falls into the same hierarchy as the first and the second then I would appreciate.
Hello everyone... I've got a question about an onKeyUp event. I'm using a text box that HAS to be a negative number therefore it has to have a - sign in front of the number. Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to write a function to do this? Thanks so much...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've a div that is editable (contentEditable = true). The div has a fixed size like a letter page. When the user has written so much text that the text overflows I want add a new div above and let flow the overflown text in the other div. (it's the some behavior like MS Word in page view, but now it is in the web)
It is possible to do something like this in the web?
One way to implement this is to check if the text of the div overflows (I've found java script examples in the web which do that). And than I need the text that overflows to move it to the next div. But I have not found a function that do this. Is there such a function?
Another way is to insert a gap at that position a new page begins and use an background image that looks like a page border. With this solution, the whole text is in one div but it looks like floating to another page. But therefore, I have to add a gap between to lines at a specific position (the page border/margin and the gab between the pages). Does anyone have an idea how to realize this?

I want the thing to check the year and month for matches and then populate the day all using drop down boxes.
Is there a good library available (jQuery or stand-alone) that allows you to customize the troublesome form elements that aren't very receptive to CSS across browsers?
I was looking to try to match drop downs, radio buttons and check boxes with the same look and feel as everything else.
I am adding drop down boxes to a div using javascript on a user action, if these boxes are assigned a value by the user then the user adds more boxes the values previously selected are cleared.
It does not happen if an option is selected in the HTML when the page is loaded.
I'm looking for four level connected drop down boxes. Unlike all the scripts I have seen on the internet I need all the options to be available if nothing is selected in the previous drop down. So I want something like combination of connected drop downs and ordinary drop down. If the selection is made, display appropriate options in other drop downs... Hope I'm clear...

I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:

how to add up a series of text boxes which contain numbers that a user will input and have the total of those text boxes show up in a quantity text box on the next page.
Not sure if i should use javascript or php, but i don't know how to do it either
I am trying to use it to direct users to a search page based on the values of two drop down boxes. The issue i am having is that the code below works fine on a test page, but not on my test domain (with wordpress theme) and so i was wondering whether there is anything I am doing wrong... Is onclick already defined maybe? I'm not sure how it works to be honest... :(

function gosearch() {
var breed = document.getElementById('breed').value;
var area = document.getElementById('area').value;
var site = "http://hairloss-help.net/?s=";
var searchurl = site + breed + area;

Ok so I have a site that I want to automatically close the window when the focus is lost from the page. For example, if the user clicks off the page to something else on there desktop I want the page to close. So far I have managed to do this but the grids on my page and the scroll bars all trigger the close function when clicked on. Is there anyway to make the scroll bars and drop down boxes not trigger the function?
This is the code I have so far.
