I need to check that a user's birthday has been filled out completely, using drop down menus. I can validate each of the menus individually (see code below), but what i really want to do is make one check that all three are selected so that I don't have 3 extra error labels.
I am using alot of Select boxes on one of my PHP/XHTML pages and i need to ensure the user has selected at least one option from the box.I have little experience with Javascript, but I tried this;
function madeSelection(elem, helperMsg) { if(elem.nodeValue == null)[code].....
All that is happening is its returning a boolean false regardless of whether or not i select an option.
[code]I have created an array of cars so if personA has more cars, they can click add and select another one. If they have 1 car and just enter name and 1 car, the form works but when I click Add row and select another car, it doesnt work?
I have two prompt dialogue boxes that ask the user the enter their name and their employee number.I am experiencing two errors. The first is, if a user enters their name incorrectly, using numbers for example, there is an error message that asks the user to re-enter their name using a string. If the user ignores the error message and enters a number a second time, the program accepts the entry, which it shouldn't.
The second error has to do with the employee number prompt. The prompt asks the user to enter an employee number that is equal to 6 digits, the program however accepts any number, less than or greater than 6 digits, which it shouldn't.I don't want the user to get away with entering anything incorrectly.
<script type="text/javascript"> // prompt the employer the enter the employee name and number var employName = prompt ("Please enter the employees' name" , " ");[code].....
I have multiple checkboxes. How can I validate the group of check boxes so that a user can only select two. If they try to select more than two, an alert will pop up stating they can only choose two?
It doesn't appear to be possible to validate multiple forms on a pages that only has a single <form> tag, using the JQuery Validation Plugin offered by Jörn Zaefferer. The reason I need to do this is because my pages are created with ASP.NET whose architecture generally calls for a single page-wide <form> tag. In my designs, I'd like to submit my data using a custom ajax call to a web-method, and link it to a click event on a button.
Below is an example: <! DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTDXHTML1.0Transitional//EN" "[URL]" > < html xmlns = "[URL]" > .....
I'm not sure that I fully understand the documentation for the Validation plugin, but it doesn't seem like this is possible, as the plugin seems to need a <form> for each form.
I am using the Validation plugin to validate a form that emails the current pages URL to the recipients entered in to the "email to" field. I want to validate that field for multiple emails addressed separated by commas...and ideas on how to do this? I'm a bit new to jQuery so I am a little confused how to approach this. I was thinking somehow altering the email function so that is parses the input and does a for each on every email address. Is this correct thinking? Is there an easier way to do this?
I'm trying to search for the correct code to make my form work. I have 3 select boxes - one with 2 options, one with 8 options, and the last with 2 options... All of this adds up to 32 different url paths. Can anyone tell me how to get this done?This is what I have so far: (and yea, I know I suck... I honestly have absolutely NO clue)
I'm not entirely familiar with jQuery coding, but I've given it my best shot to get this script working properly, and I can't seem to manage it. Here is my scenario: I'm creating a website for a friend who sells custom jewelery cuts. There are 4 different parameters you have to choose about your cut, and we would like to change the image displayed to match the parameters you select so you have a picture of what your going to purchase. The idea is like this:
I have managed to get it to update the image for a single select box, but then If I select another one it completely overrides the first one, and displays the second box. Here is what I have so far (and no it doesn't work :P):
I have a form with 4 select boxes. At least one of them must be used during the submission event.I cannot get the logic straight that will enable this to happen.
[Code]...
This ensures that when only one select box is chosen, the form validates, however, it also validates if no boxes are selected. What's the most efficient way of doing this?
when uploading multiple files with php, one uses an array for the name of the file field like this: <input name="image[]" type="file" id="1" size="40">
Now I have some genius jscript that checks the file types of multiple upload fields. But it requires the name of each of the fields to be unique. Since all my fields have image[] for the name - the script breaks. If I name my fields with image1, image2, image3 etc, the jscript works.
In order to upload multiples, php requires the name of the field to be an array as above. I just need a little tweak to this jscript!
Here is the jscript. pretty simple, except for when the field is called using it's "name" property midway down. I tried using unique id's but this didn't seem to work - of course I might have messed it up. Code:
I want to have a bracket page, so you can chose from two options, and then two chosen people are paried to face off... espn.com has a bracket for the sexiest athlete right now - something like that. What I want is drop down box 1A to have two options. When one option is chosen, it is added to box 2A. The user would also chose one of two options from 1B. That choice would also be added to 2A. Then I need this to recursively work for N number of rounds, and the total to start would be 2^N.
I'm trying to populate select boxes depending on choices in other select boxes. In my case, the person has to choose a type of fixture type, then a select box with all the models would populate, and then a third select box with the watts have to populate.
In my code, the second select box is populating, but the third one is not. I'm sure that the problem is not in the php, but has to be in the jquery side. I'm a newbie in jquery and javascript.
i want to know how to validate multiple set of radiobuttons.for example 1.item A a.item1-$100 b.item2-$200 c.item3-$300
2.item B a.item4-$200 b.item5-$300 c.item6-$400
3.item C a.item7-$10 b.item8-$20 c.item9-$30
when item1 of itemA is clicked its value should be displayed in one textbox and when 3 items had been selected from three sets of radio buttons its total value should be displayed in same textbox like this.
I have some checkboxes in a form that I'd like to validate (check to ensure that at least one has been ticked): HTML Code: <input type="checkbox" name="response[]" value="answer1" />answer1 <input type="checkbox" name="response[]" value="answer2" />answer2 <input type="checkbox" name="response[]" value="answer3" />answer3 <input type="checkbox" name="response[]" value="answer4" />answer4
The javascript below only works if I change my checkbox names to name="response" rather than name="response[]". Code: function validateform(){ var success = false; for (i = 0; i < document.surveyform.response.length; i++){ if (document.surveyform.response[i].checked){ success = true; }} return success; }
I need to pass along multiple checkbox responses to my PHP script and therefore need to keep checkboxes named name="response[]". When I do this, I get the error "document.surveyform.response has no properties" What change I can make to the javascript so that I can name my checkboxes name="responses[]" ?
I would like to have one questionare it consists of 5 questions and has got 5 options as an answer.Conditions are[B]1.All questions must be answered.2. Kindly answer the question numbers 2,5 ( If question no 2 and questions no 5 is not answered.)[/B]For that i have created radio buttons group and wrote validation code.But its validating only one question not to rest of others questions.If some one misses any questions it is submitting answer
I am using a validating form plug in for jquery and I have a question about it. Let this function will be an ex.:

'e' is the name attribute of one form element, but can I choose more elements using jquery (CSS) rules like this: input[name*=e] or how can I do something similar?
I'm quite new to jQuery and have this working, though I'm fairly sure if this won't be an efficient way to do this. I have a form with each day of the week, and each day has a choice in the number of slots which then shows the correct number of slots for entry for that day.
The form: <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="DataTable"><tbody> <tr> <th> Day </th> <th> Slots .....
This is simplified just a little as there are more than the 1 input in an 'Entry Section' (eg .Entry3). The jQuery I have working here is: <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#frmSlots1").change(onSelectChange); }); function onSelectChange(){ .....
That's working fine, except I do want to have 7 days so that would be quite a lot of replicated jQuery code. I am thinking there will be a way to identify the select item with the others so jQuery will know which to adjust without having to spell every single item out. Is there an easy way to achieve this in the above?
I am somewhat a noob at js/jquery so I wasn't sure exactly how to do this. Think I just need a push in the right direction. Basically I'm trying to validate a form (jquery validation) with a couple of conditionals based on a selection box. So I have:
I'm trying to create a drop down menu with four different boxes. The site I'm working on is basically an ecommerce site, so I'll use cars as a good example for what I want to do.
Let's say that I'm selling cars and want to target the buyer directly, then I would have the following boxes, each one serving as a dependent of the one before it:
1. Pick the brand (BMW, Mercedes, Etc.)
2. Pick the type of car (Sports car, SUV, Mini Van, etc.)
3. Pick the color (blue, green, etc.)
4. Pick the price ($0-$19,999/$19,999-29,999/etc.)
So far I have the first two boxes down by using the following site: [URL]. Now my problem is that the site only allows for the first two boxes to be made, and says that
"the values in box1 are static and printed directly as normal HTML. The corresponding box2 options will also be copied into the HTML as well as the javascript for full functionality."
Being a complete newbie, I have no idea what this means. So I decided to search the internet for an answer and was not able to find one, thus leading me here, which from the looks of it seems like a great forum.
how to connect a third and fourth box that falls into the same hierarchy as the first and the second then I would appreciate.
I'm creating an online enrolment form for my company, who are a training company. Users enrolling on the course must make three choices - The level of course, the size of course and whether they wish to attend a workshop or study by distance learning. The combination of these three factors will determine the price. I'd like to have the price automatically calculated using javascript and displayed on the form before they submit. Can anyone give me an idea of how to do this?There are three drop down boxes for users to select their course. They are: -
I need a drop down box with numbers 1,2,3,4....listed. When the user selects 2, two text boxes appear below, ajax style ! if they select 3, three boxes etc etc.
Is there a good library available (jQuery or stand-alone) that allows you to customize the troublesome form elements that aren't very receptive to CSS across browsers?
I was looking to try to match drop downs, radio buttons and check boxes with the same look and feel as everything else.
I am adding drop down boxes to a div using javascript on a user action, if these boxes are assigned a value by the user then the user adds more boxes the values previously selected are cleared.
It does not happen if an option is selected in the HTML when the page is loaded.
