Drop Down List To Control Web Page Content Displayed
Dec 17, 2010
I have an assignment where I have a drop down list that is created dynamically that uses the content from the h3 tags in the body as the options in addition to the first option being "Show entire script"
The content of the body is actually a screenplay with
and

My goal is to only show the character's (who is selected in the drop down) name and dialogue while hiding the rest of the screenplay
I am not too sure how to go about this at all, but this is what I have so far:
All it does is gets rid of the names of the characters who aren't selected and not the block quotes underneath
The page I am building has 4 columns on it and I want the selected value ofa drop down list box to control the number of columns that appear on the page.
I'm using PHP and adding Javascript to snazz up how my data gets displayed. This isn't for a class-p, I'm just expanding my skills. I try to stay away from Javascript as much as possible for compatibility reasons, but there are some instances where I can't get away with it. In my web apps class a few years ago, we used ASP.NET, C# and Javascript. The instructor really had no idea what she was talking about... But we were making labels visible/invisible for input validation. As I recall, this was server-side, but I don't remember the page reloading. I need a method of making an html control element visible or invisible without a page refresh based on whatever criteria I have at the moment. I don't see any reason why Javascript couldn't do this.
I am trying to create a drop down list which depend to the value selected from the previous drop down list. I can add it without problem, but If I change again the value of the first drop down list I would like to remove the previous drop down list generated from the first value. If I try to remove it when I create the element, it even does not create the element, the remove element function seems to work because when you click on the remove link it works.
I want to do drop down list where I get option value from database with search and appear information from database in same page...under drop down list option..
In drop down list option,I get warning like this continuously according to total record in database:
selected Warning:printf() [function.printf]: Too few arguments in C:\xampphtdocevaluationlist.php on line 59
I have a
html element which contains other html tags, as well as plain text inside those tags. How do I grab only the content within the div that will actually be displayed in the browser, and put it in a Javascript string variable?
I have a table that has parts with multiple characteristics. Part Number, Height, Width, Capacity, Price, Etc. I would like to have a drop downs for all of these values, when a user selects one of these values it will filter the results into a list. Ex. user selects a part that has a Height of 6 and width of 10 it will only list those parts. As I said earlier, I have a script that will give me all the parts, however I am not able to make the onchange list parts with multiple values.
I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.
I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County).I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database.This piece of code is working well . . . .
<?php
$link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database');[code]......
I need a drop down box with numbers 1,2,3,4....listed. When the user selects 2, two text boxes appear below, ajax style ! if they select 3, three boxes etc etc.
I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:
My problem is that my page have a fixed width of for example 800px which the iframe width is 100% of this width, but some external websites I put inside the iframe have a wider fixed width than 600, for example if the external website have the width of 1000px then my iframe will have a horizontal scroll. I don't want the horizontal scroll to appear and at the same time I want the iframe to show the whole width of the external website. Is there a way that I can control the width of the external website and make it 100% of the width of my iframe instead of their fixed 1000px for example? I don't think I can but I thought I would ask anyways maybe it's possible!
My question is if there is a way to add a input field on my website where people will type their email and then press "GO" or "submit" and they will be directed to another website and their email they enterd will automatically be displayd on that websites email submission. and if its possible that it would press the submit button on that page as well directly. cant find any tutorial on this on html or java,
iam trying to use 5 drop downs in my form for user to select languages and each select drop down should not allow the user to select the same language again and all my drop downs are populating individually from the DB on the page so if "English" is selected for "dropdown 1" then again "drop down 2" should not allow "English" to be selected.
I've been searching for a few hours and haven't been able to find a code snippet to see if this is available. I'm attempting to pass text from my website to another website that has a form setup on it. I'd like to fill in the pertinent data for my users on the page that I load for them. I cannot make any changes to the receiving page as it is run by another company. I've pasted some of the code that is available on the receiving form.
// var theForm = document.forms['form1']; if (!theForm) {
I have written a very simple test. When I click on a link the page is loaded, then I press the back-button and when I click the link again, the page is loaded BUT then the first page is automatically displayed again. In Google chrome this works fine, but on iPhone 4, HTC WildFire S and HTC Sensation it does not work.
Please try this: 1. Navigate to "[URL]" (==> shows PAGE 1) 2. Just press "login" (form is not implemented) (==> shows PAGE 2) 3. Click on the first item "Click here" (==> shows PAGE 3) 4. Press back-button (==> shows PAGE 2) 5. Click on the first item "Click here" again ( ==> shows PAGE3 BUT then PAGE 2 is automatically shown again)
I want to get rid of a flicker. It's caused by moving page content around with jquery's document.ready() function. The problem is the page is displayed, then the content moved, and then redisplayed again causing the "flicker." I just need a to move the content before the page is displayed the first time. Is there an event that runs after the content is loaded but before it is displayed? The code is simply:
I'm looking for something that can display a PDF in a way similar to a typical jQuery image gallery (or a desktop PDF viewer, e.g. Acrobat or Preview). I tried out Mike Alsup's jQuery Media Plugin [URL], thinking that the "iframe player" might do the trick. But of course, I still get the default browser behavior for a PDF, which in most cases (like Firefox) is to not display it at all. Works great in Safari, though, especially with the AdobePDFViewer.plugin. So does anyone know of something that could enable PDFs to be displayed on the page?
I am using HAPedit for HTML/Javascript and it used to work alright by clicking Display -> Browse with -> Default Browser(Internet Explorer). But since last one or two days it gives the following error: "The page cannot be displayed" and the following is shown in the URL bar [URL] But, however, if I navigate to the file by using File -> Open of the IE, the result is shown correctly.
I'm using a Volusion shopping cart and it uses JavaScript to insert code into DIVs with specific IDs. The code that it inserts can't be changed from the backend, so I'm wondering if there is a way to replace it with JavaScript after it's rendered.
Here is my problem specifically: I'm trying to change the wording "Find by Type" to "Sort by Type", but I can't modify it since it's being added in later by JavaScript. The tag I have in my template file is:
Code:

but when rendered, Volusion turns it into:
I have a list of paragraphs that all need to say the same thing. Each has it's own ID and class (each one has a different font color) and I need a co-worker to be able to type a phrase or name into a form field & hit "go" and have it update all of the paragraphs to reflect that text in the various colors. I also need it to have a predetermined default phrase.
Example: Welcome Home (in blue) Welcome Home (in red) Welcome Home (in green) Welcome Home (in black) Welcome Home (in yellow) etc.
I already have the framework set up (with the colors and everything) it's just a matter of changing the contents of the paragraph-tag.
