InnerHTML Save Data - Adding New Text Inputs With New Name Values?
Jan 5, 2011
I got the following script to work the way I want it by adding new text inputs with new name values, but if there is data added and the add button is clicked again everything disappears. Is there any way to keep the data from going AWAL?
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />[code]....

I have created the text boxes dynamically(as many boxes as the user wants) and he can drag and drop the text boxes in the page. I need to create a dynamic line from one text boxes to other text boxes and delete the test boxes which the user does not want. I have created the dynamic graphic line. I know the values of the text boxes can be saved using php in the backend. But is there any way the values with the dynamically created boxes(with <div></div> elements, not with the text boxes) with values and graphics line can be saved online and the user when log-in again can retrieve the work that he saved? Can we code this either in javascript/php?

In part of my form, I have 3 inputs (one textarea and two text inputs),I am validating their value format using AJAX (each input triggers error message on its label in case format is wrong). Also I have one button, "NOT submit button" (type = button).Now, when clicking on the button it must enter the value of those three inputs in my database in case they are true then all inputs values must be cleared. In case AJAX validation is wrong and in case the user clicked on that button, the value of fields must kept as it is.
Actually I can not use submit button because I have it for the whole form and what I am taking about is a part of the form and it's not possible to make nested forms as I know it violates html rules. It's easy to make it if I am taking about submitting button as I can view session values on fields after submission in case ajax returns error.I can clear inputs from Javascript, but it will be cleared on both cases if AJAX validation true or wrong. Each input field has AJAX Error message that will be triggered when the input format is wrong.

I have a large form, that has text boxes of numbers in rows and
columns. I need to sum the values in the columns, and put the total at
the bottom of the column. But I also need to sum the values in each
row, and put the total at the end of the row.
What is the javascript to sum the values to a few text boxes, and how
would I write the script for these totals to run all at once?

I want to do is add the values of seven text fields on a form and pop that value to an eighth field. I thought the code below would work, but I get "NaN" on the sum field.
Code:
function addHazWaste() {
document.getElementById('HazardousWaste').value = 0;
var HazWasteTotal = 0;
var HazWaste1 = 0;
var HazWaste2 = 0;
var HazWaste3 = 0;
var HazWaste4 = 0;
var HazWaste5 = 0;
var HazWaste6 = 0;
var HazWaste7 = 0;
HazWaste1 = parseInt(document.getElementById('HazardousWasteSentToLandfill').value,10);
HazWaste2 = parseInt(document.getElementById('HazardousWasteSentToWasteToEnergy').value,10);
HazWaste3 = parseInt(document.getElementById('HazardousWasteIncinerated').value,10);
HazWaste4 = parseInt(document.getElementById('HazardousWasteRecycled').value,10);
HazWaste5 = parseInt(document.getElementById('HazardousWasteReused').value,10);
HazWaste6 = parseInt(document.getElementById('BiohazardousWasteSentToLandfill').value,10);
HazWaste7 = parseInt(document.getElementById('BiohazardousWasteIncinerated').value,10);
HazWasteTotal = HazWaste1 + HazWaste2 + HazWaste3 + HazWaste4 + HazWaste5 + HazWaste6 + HazWaste7;
document.getElementById('HazardousWaste').value = HazWasteTotal;
}
If I run a separate function that just sets all form field values to zero (including the first line of this function). The summing works!!! Why won't it work the way I wrote it??? It won't work if I set the default value for the sum field to zero, either...

I'm a complete beginner to JS and have been playing around with a few test projects but I am stuck with one particular part.It simply creates a new text box if you press the Add Text Box button, and removes the text box if you press the Remove Text Box button.What I want to do now is add a usable value to each text box (e.g. the first text box will have the value "tb1", the second "tb2" and so on - so that I can post the data to use it further on.

I have 4 text boxes that are supposed to load 4 seperate values of data from one field in one table from a database. The field is called interface_cropsettings (from the interface table) and these values have been concatenated and comma seperated in this field.
Code:
Once the form is filled out and saved, the data is inserted into the database and the values from these 4 text boxes are concatenated, comma seperated and inserted into that one field correctly.
(Example)
If the 4 text boxes have the following values:
In the database field they become:
However, if the form is closed and then re-opened, each text box displays the entire database field rather then each value seperated in the corresponding text box.
(Example)
All 4 text boxes display this:
I already know why the data appears like this in the form, my problem is that I'm not sure how to write the javascript to seperate the values into the correct corresponding fields, assuming javascript is what I should be using!
Also, this is kind of irrelevant but just in case you're wondering, this form is part of a cold fusion application!

var inputArray = new Array();
var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName('input');

I want to create a dynamic clickable color picker like this:
When I click a square it has to select a color from the list - it's simple but...
There are inputs with the same name="color_number" - I'm trying to get those values but it returns just the first one, so there's working just first color.
This is my code:
var color_number = $j('[name=color_number]').val();
$j('div.color-picker-'+color_number).click(function() {
$j("#input_Kolor option:contains('"+color_number+"')").val();
$j("#input_Kolor option[selected]").removeAttr("selected");

I have a form that is initially submitted by normal submit button, but after that I want it to resubmit on change(). I thought I'd be able to pick up the secondary change()s by adding a class to all of the inputs. However I now understand that won't work by default because the change() can't be attached to the class added by the the submit() as it didn't exist at the time, it was added by Jquery. I've since discovered on() but I'm now stuck on where to include it.
Here's the script so far:
The submit() adds the 'stu' class, and then the change() tries to select it but can't
<script>
$(document).ready( function(){
$("#search_choices").submit( function(evt){
runSearch();
$("input").addClass("stu");
evt.preventDefault();
});
});
$('.stu').change( function(){
runSearch();
});
function runSearch(){
var sFor
= $("#for").val(),
sWhere
= $('input[name=where]:radio:checked').val();
$("#search_results").load('search.php', { where: sWhere, treb: sFor } );
};
</script>

I am working on an interest and investment calculator for a class project. On my list of drop down options, one of the options isnt an integer value like the rest. It's value is "other", while the other three are 1000, 5000, 1000, and 25000. What I would like to do is when the user chooses the "other amount" option from the drop down list, a prompt window will come up asking the user for an investment amount. I am having problems creating a function in my javascript file for this, and then taking the value entered and assigning a variable in another function with that new value so that it calculates with the users input. Please help. The first part of the attachment is the label with the "other" value I explained. And the second piece of code is my mess of a function that I tried to create for the prompt window to come up and store the users value and then change the value of the option.
This is in my HTML:
<label for="investment">One-Time Investment:</label>
<select name="investment" id="investment"
<optgroup label="">
<option value="1000">$1,000</option>

What advantage does adding elements via document.createElement have over writing markup naturally with innerHTML?
[Code]...
The latter method has much more overhead and is considerably more difficult to write with. However, there must be an advantage of some sort to doing it this way, but it's not exactly clear to me why.

I've written a program which will prompt for a number of cities, Prompt for the name of the city, then prompt for the number of snowfall readings of that city, and then prompt for each of these individual snowfall readings of that city. From this, it adds up each of the individual snowfall readings of that city, and will calculate an average by dividing this figure [the total snowfall] by the total number of readings for that city. This average is used to then classify the city as "not snowy", "mild", or "blizzard". I'm happy to PM my code to anyone willing to help out, as I realise this is a complex structure to visualise perhaps, but I can't post it publicly.

I am trying to have it save menu selections, I was thinking either cookies or storing it in the window thing but I am unsure of how to do these.
HTML Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function setCookie(c_name,value,exdays) {
var exdate=new Date();
exdate.setDate(exdate.getDate() + exdays);
var c_value=escape(value) + ((exdays==null) ? "" : "; expires="+exdate.toUTCString());
document.cookie=c_name + "=" + c_value;
} .....

I have a long survey form and once its submitted it gets recorded into a database. I would love to be able to save a PDF version of the HTML form with all their radio buttons and textfields filled out at the same time its submitted. It would need a unique name that matches their record in the database (maybe it pulls the data that was entered into one of the form fields for the name).
Whether it gets uploaded to an ftp or just emailed to a mailbox doesn't really matter. The purpose of this is to basically have a visual interpretation of the data by a single user.
