Dynamically Adding <option> Tags To <select> Boxes In Firefox / IE

I'm currently working with a bit of javascript to dynamically add
<option>s into a select box. My code currently works fine in Internet
Explorer, however in Firefox the dropdown only displays the first
option in the list, and when clicked the other values aren't displayed.
Here is the code;
//ar_options is an array with the option to be displayed in.
for (count=0; count<number_of_options+1; count++)

Option(ar_options[count],ar_options[count]);

As I said - fine in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox. I did
discover some discussions about this, which were talking about an issue
and workarounds but I couldn't get any of them to work. I have also
tried simply using the document.write() function to output the HTML in
the correct place. However this is just hte same, works in IE but not
Firefox.

I have more than once wanted to manipulate the contents of select boxes
dynamically, whilst the boxes contain <optgroup> tags.
Manipulation of a select box containing only <option> tags is fairly
easy and there is plenty of material on the net to assist with this.
However, I have searched long and found the material on the subject of
<optgroup> to be sparse, with a few posts here & there, but basically
you're on your own.
After much trial & error regarding techniques for this, I have a fairly
generic solution, which I decided to share, and the code is below. Two
different scenarios I have come across are (1) altering the contents of
one <select> dynamically depending upon another, and (2) being able
click 'up' and 'down' buttons to alter the sequence of the listing
(whilst keeping each <option> within its respective <optgroup>) I tried
various solutions for both of these which tended to either trash the
screen, alter which <optgroup> an <option> was under or trash the
<optgroup>s altogether.
Both these situations can be handled with the solution here. Basically
I keep the <optgroup>s and <option>s stored in an Array(), and then use
the Array() to reconstruct the <select>.
To use, just manipulate the Array() in memory - which I find very easy
- and then call the function to reconstruct.
I like to build the <select> <optgroup> <option> set using HTML as
normal and then create the Array() with <body as this makes
it usable where javascript is unavailable, rather than have the Array()
as a hard-coded start point. Code:

Here's what I'm trying to do is...If you select a color, then select a shape, the color option would return to the 'selected' position.If you select a shape, then select a size, the shape option would return to the 'selected' position and so on. The end result is I would like to have only one item selected from one of the select boxes, with the other two select boxes returned to the selected position.The code is presented here.

Each time I dynamically load the options of a select box and then try to do anything with it (such as clicking it or using other JS code on it) I get the following Firefox error:Error: Index or size is negative or greater than the allowed amount = NS_ERROR_DOM_INDEX_SIZE_ERR

If I create the exact same options but do so by writing them into the HTML using PHP, then I don't see the error message anymore.
This problem happens in both Firefox 1.5 and Internet Explorer.

According to [URL] intended way for jQuery to change dynamically the selected option of a dropdown select control isassigningthe desired text instead of the value. I found this way veryinconvenient (data structures usually deal with value codes, not value descriptions) and it seems to work only sometimes.
Trying different options I came out with this approach that seems to do the job so
far:

I'm making a form with some select options, and when clicking an option from the drop down, another option will appear.
The thing is that it seems to work in the most common browsers, but for myself, as a beginner in Javascript, I don't know if it's written the correct way. What could be done better?
Aswel, before I write further to this part of code, I want to know that the value of the second option will pass correctly via the PHP process script afterwards... because initially, the second option is not mentioned in the .html file, it comes in virtually by the javascript.

For some reason this doesnt work in IE.

oSelect.add(oOption); works in IE but doesnt in FF. Although, its mentioned here that appendChild applies to OPTION too. How do I get this working on both browsers ?

I have a form where a user enters a number in a text box (txtTickets). When that number is entered, I need to create an equal number of select boxes. I've found code examples which show how to dynamically add or delete options from a select box, but I have found no examples which deal with this specific scenario. The select options do not depend on user input -- that is, I do not need to populate it dynamically. I need to create them dynamically. Has anyone created something similar to this?

I have an interesting issue. I use an old, CSS-style tabbed page that sets a style on a <div> containing an <iframe> to display:block if the tab is clicked, and display:none if the tab is not currently selected. This works fine and is not the issue, just background information....In one of the pages that is currently set to display:none, I remove all the options and add new ones based on a data return from an ajax query. If I do this in a more traditional direct DOM manipulating Javascript fashion, everything is OK and the select remains unseen. However, doing this using jQuery causes the select to appear and bleed-through to the <iframe> content that is currently visible.

I am creating a dynamo form but <select and <option does not show.
How do I make sure that they are created on the fly?

The code below works great in Mozilla.
In IE the selection box is created, and there is a drop-down box if I click
on the down arrow, but I can't see the OPTION text for each option. The
options are invisible, yet the box seems fully functional. I went into the
debugger and sure enough the selection box has "OPTION" child nodes with the
correct "value" and "text" attributes.
What could be wrong?:

I am trying to add select items via jquery to a select control. The following code works perfectly in IE, Opera. Chrome and Safari, but for the life of me I cant get it working in firefox. I really don't think its a bug but I must be missing something obvious.

Im using a JavaScript function to dynamically add rows of user-input data to a form, but Im having problems getting it to work properly with Firefox (works well in IE, though). We are using Struts 1.3 and JSPs, if that makes a difference.
The JavaScript function seems to work initially because the newly added row will show up on the JSP after the user enters their data and clicks a button that uses an onclick event to call the function. However, when I submit the form the new elements dont get included in the request. The result is that when I use the following code in my Struts Action Class to get all the parameter names submitted in the request, I dont receive the new form elements that were added by the JavaScript function and I cant process those newly added records:
Enumeration e = request.getParameterNames();
Here is the JavaScript code for the function that I call to dynamically add rows of data to the form.

I have four html form check boxes.The user is allow to choose one or three of the check boxes, the last check box has a value of None.
Example: What's your favorite color.1. Red 2.Blue 3. Green 4. Gray. 5. None.The user can select more then one color.So I'm wondering how can I make the other check boxes deselect when the user click None.So if the user select None, then the other boxes cannot be checked. know you can do this with radio buttons but I would like the user to select more then one option.

I'm attempting to use javascript but have a feeling that i'm failing terribly.
I have five div tags each contating a set of list items, when one of these list items is clicked i want the original div tag to become hidden and the relevant one shown.
Here's what code i have, it's not including the css as its somewhere in the region of 1500 lines and just positions sprites!

I'm using the following code to remove an option from a select control based on a selection in a different select control and the option text in the select option that is being removed. The code works as I want it to, but I would prefer to use the option value for identifying the option to remove instead of using the option text. I have a drop down box (select) in my website: [URL] that works fine; but the problems is if the user click on a wrong option, it will show a box and if the user click on another option from the box, the last one will be on display and won't go off..
Like this select something and then at the same box change the selection you will see the code will build up boxes on the screen.. How I do for it not happens if the user change the option in the last box, the one before disappears!

row, and put the total at the end of the row.

My javascript at the moment allows me to enter digits into textboxes, with the result of them all being put totalled up in a seperate box.
However, the numbers inputted are referring to money. This means that some users may put commas or full stops in. Does anyone know how I can parse such punctuation, so javascript just reads it as a full number without the commas etc. As it stands I just get a NaN error.

I am trying to take the values of 2 or more select boxes, add them together and then update a text field each time a selection in one of the select boxes is made. Basically, I am trying to keep a running total.
Currently I have it set up so that onchange it grabs the selected value. The problem is that it is being processed as a string I believe. For instance, if there are two variables, a=111 and b=222, the output in the text field reads 111222. I tried using parseInt, but that just returns NaN (not a number?...just a guess).
I have seen this solved with if statements, grabbing the selected index # and then assigning an integer, but I am hoping there is an easier way.

I've got 3 'alternative' boxes, only one of which I want displayed,
according to the value of an earlier select (so I'm using the
<htmlelement>.style property from javascript).
One is a div containing text, which I amend as appropriate with innerhtml
One is an image.
One is a div containing 4 input text boxes, which are disabled or not as
appropriate.
I've tried .style.visibility = "hidden" / "visible" (correctly leaves
blank space, which I don't want)
I've tried .style.display = "none" / "block" (works for moz, ie treats
as visibility)
I've tried setting .style.height & width to "0px" / null (doesn't work
for ie).
Any suggestions as to how to make the thing disappear and occupy no
space (dynamically) in ie as well as other browsers please ?
