I'm attempting to use javascript but have a feeling that i'm failing terribly.
I have five div tags each contating a set of list items, when one of these list items is clicked i want the original div tag to become hidden and the relevant one shown.
Here's what code i have, it's not including the css as its somewhere in the region of 1500 lines and just positions sprites!
I want to use the following script for an automatically generated Sitemap: multi-level accordion The ul-Tag I need has no class or selector. But it runs within a special div-container.
How can I tell the script to hide and unhide the right list elements?
I was just wondering if you can use html tags in javascript alert boxes?(like <b>hello</b>) when i try it it doesn't work only in document.write it works, i feel its weird. Could it be my browser im on safari,
I'm currently working with a bit of javascript to dynamically add <option>s into a select box. My code currently works fine in Internet Explorer, however in Firefox the dropdown only displays the first option in the list, and when clicked the other values aren't displayed.
Here is the code;
//ar_options is an array with the option to be displayed in.
for (count=0; count<number_of_options+1; count++) { document.forms['enquiry'].enquirytype.options[count] = new Option(ar_options[count],ar_options[count]); };
As I said - fine in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox. I did discover some discussions about this, which were talking about an issue and workarounds but I couldn't get any of them to work. I have also tried simply using the document.write() function to output the HTML in the correct place. However this is just hte same, works in IE but not Firefox.
I have created a form with 2 list boxes and coded to allow a user to move items from one list box across to another.
What I need to do now is
1. to send the completed right list to a php page for database updating.
2. be able to have up to 3 list box sets on one page and reference each individually. i.e one for parent categories, one for child categories and one for products belonging to this category.
the page is located at
[URL]
the code is as follows
Code: <HEAD> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> function move(frombox, tobox) { var arrFrombox = new Array();
As is in order to trigger the text turning back to black it seems I need to put the lines like below one by one for all the id's. I'm wondering if there is a less lengthy way to get this done?
I have one drop down list having some characters name. I have created this list dynamically using javascript. I have <h3> tag in html having same characters' name using that I had created drop down list. There are <blockquote> along with <h3> tag which is speech of that character. I have to generate the javascript in such a way that, if character "A" is selected and sppech belong to that character should be visible.
I am able to append html <a> tags inside a div. I added 60px to each <a> tag created except for the first <a> tag which has 0px. These px's I added are in the css value of top. That's way each <a> tag will be appended downwards. Now I made with these <a> tags a checkbox input tag. they are named all the same name but pass different values. When you click the checkboxes and hit my delete button... it removes the checkboxes that were selected and the <a> tag that was selected to be deleted. all checked will be deleted when the delete button is pressed. That's all neat and dandy... but the problem comes when for example lets say I got 6 rows of <a> tags with check boxes.
Lets say 2 and 4 got selected and deleted... well wherever their position was it's now blank. I want to make number 3 to move back one position. have 5 move 2 times. So 5 takes number 3's place. and 6 will move 2 times. it will move to take 4's place. So now 6 won't be called 6 anymore now it be 4 , 5 would be 3 . then 3 would be 2. 6 minus 2 equals 4 so that be how it should replace the deleted <a> tags spaces. I would want to rename those. What I am doing is I have a checkout page. This is where customers can add orders in to a list so they can buy more then 1 stuff at the same time or at one transaction.
I just want them if they added too many items or made mistakes they can easily delete them from the list. Now I added 60px to the css top value... but since we are going in reverse then here comes the tricky part. Lets go back to my example where we deleted 2 and 4 out of a total of 6 numbers. Any number beyond 2 and 4 will get their css values subtracted by 60px 2 times so it be a loop and that css value would be the top value. Now any number after 2 but not after 4 then I would subtract 60px for only 1 time. which I still need to loop this. It looks like I need a loop based on total numbers that be 6 in our example. So I would have 6 and every loop completed it would subtract 6 by 1.
Inside the loop. I would need to check the ones not deleted to what they stand based on the total numbers and if they are greater then the two numbers. The problem is that I would need o generate if statements because that be based on how many were selected to be deleted. So this would vary. In our case we would check if 6 is greater then 2 and 4 and if so then loop the increase in pixes 2 times so we subtract 60px 2 times. then we then look at each number and test them. If they are not behind 2 or 4 then don't do anything to them but if they are behind 2 then we will loop to subtract 60px's one time.
The problem is that when I delete the <a> tags there is a missing gap displayed... I want it that my list adjusts so no matter how many are delete and if they are not in order... the they are deleted the <a> tags still should be able to adjust or readjust so the list is in order once again. So the example above we eliminated numbers 5 and 6 we deleted 2 and 4 so 3 took 2's place , 5 took 3's place and 6 took 4's place and 6 got renamed to 4 , 5 renamed to 3 and 3 renamed to 2. so 5 and 6 no longer exist. In my real code these numbers be items listed. just a number to associate their reference in the list.
I have been trying to put together a site for my friend, however while my html and css understanding is ok, but I am very bad with javascript, and im pretty sure that i need to use javascript to solve my problem. So basically, i will have 5 different div tags, each containing differently styled content (example code below) - i only want the first div tag (content1) to be visible at the start. div tag 1 will have 4 different links (as u can see in the example), and then depending on which link is clicked, div tag one will disappear, and one of the other div tags will appear. each of the other div tags will have a link that will make themselves disappear and div tag 1 (content1) appear again. Is this possible?
I need to see if I can shorten this AND see if I can have a "show all option" added.The page is setup like so.. I have the following javascript working.. I'm running jquery... being a semi newbie it took a while to get this running.I have 4 DISTINCT queries that load up select boxes.There are 4 select boxes .. on change, the queries will see what option was selected and re-run DISTINCT SQL queries so all the select boxes only have related info.. so no one ends up with a "zero" results.I'm hiding these to help walk through in a logical order. However I need to1) Have a show all and let them select anything they wish and show all 4 boxes. How can I add a "show all" to the script below2) I noticed on page load the boxes show and then slowly hide. THis looks messy.. how can I alter that?3) This seems long for what I'm doing.. is there a way I can shorten this code? What if I expand to 8 boxes.. then I'll have 8 simple if statements.. but it seems unnecessary.CODE that is working is
$(document).ready(function () { if ($("#pMaterial option").is(":selected")) {
I'm just trying to find the best method of updating a running total of the value of list boxes. I basically have 6 items and I want a drop down box listing quantities. when a number is selected I want a total to update beneath. I'm not sure I can do this in PHP without reloading the page. Do i need to use Java script? if so I'm a total newbie can someone point me in the right direction?
I would like to hide/show the relevant divs (into a container) based upon the button pressed. If no div was open, then it would simply open the relevant div, however if say div 2 was open and div 3 was pressed, div 2 would toggle closed then div 3 would toggle open.
I've got each individual div opening and closing, but I'm stuck at the next point (checking if a div is open/toggling etc).
Does anyone know why this isn't working? The toggle function works perfectly fine with PHP loops, but when I insert the table td tr tags, it does not hide the loop when the page first loads...It just shows the results in the div which it shouldn't be doing.
Here's what my code looks like...
JS
Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function toggle(element) { if (document.getElementById(element).style.display == "none") {
Hello i use a javascript to use drop down lists so i display the appropriate products to user.Atm no matter the user option i display 3 drop down lists in whole products.Lets say the drop down lists are like manufacturer/order by/sochet.
When the user wish to see "processors" then the sochet list have values,but when he choose "printers" the sochet list is empty since the printers dont contan sochets.In this case i want to hide the sochet drop down list in order to be more familiar to the user is that possible?
My js looks like this
<script type="text/javascript"> function showUser() {
i have a list of checkboxes, the number of checkboxes is dynamic. All the checkboxes have same name. i am trying to get the length of selected checkboxes.
when i try to get the length in javascript like document.form.name1.length, it works fine if number of checkboxes selected are more than 1, but not for 1.
I want to modify the appearance of an unordered list by assigning a value to each list item and then setting the custom properties for each list item. At first I was thinking of assigning a number to each list item and then controlling it's properties via that number.But now I'm wondering if jQuery can do a search for the list items content.
I'm trying to combine a chained drop down list with the ability for the last selection to show/hide a div. I've researched and found ways to do both individually, but I'm hitting the wall when it comes to combining the javascript.
This is how I'd like it to work:
-- User selects from DropDown List 1. -- DropDown List 2 options appear based on the selection in 1. -- User selects from DropDown List 2, -- Appropriate div is shown.
Here's the Javascript I'm using to show/hide a div:
function showDiv(divID) { var div = document.getElementById(divID); div.style.display = ""; //display div }
I got a table.Each row has a list of statuses.If status == yes, then several elements will be shown in the rowif status != yes, then hide those elements.Im not sure if I have made a good solution, but it seem to work ok (opera9.6, ff2, ie7)The status selector passes on a unique rowid, and itself. This way the js function can get the row, and the status of the selection. Then toggle various elements in that row.Only annoying thing is the way row elements are named and found. It kinda have to rely on some hard coding, but its ok I guess.Im not sure if its possibel to just call toggle( this ), and that way get to the elements in the row.
Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
I've just started using the jQuery Autocomplete plugin [URL]I get my completions from a serverside service. Currently I'm using the option selectFirst: false. When I'm using Enter without selecting from the completion list, this submits my form. This is fine, but the displayed completions stay visible after submit. How can I hide displayed completions when hitting Enter without selecting a entry? (As expected, displayed completion list disappear when selecting a entry and hit Enter or Tab)
I have a simple list of members names that I pull from my members database for printing members info. I want to show the members profile/family image as well. Because its for printing I want to add the ability to hide/unhide the pics. I put the pics in a div with an ID.
I have a list item, where only some of the items are linking to a quote from the client. The quotes are in another list, where each list item has an id corresponding to the client link. I want to show the client quote when you roll over the client anchor link. Currently when I mouseover it's showing nothing.
At the moment, when I mouseover one of the anchored client links, the content disappears, so it's not showing the correct client quote <li>. $(document).ready(function() { // see if the requested page url contains an anchor '#' var hash = window.location.hash.substring(1); // if no anchor, show the default blockqoute if(!hash){ var id = 'default'; }else{ var id = hash; } .....
Basically i need the menu to be collapsed to the first level initially. So only the User, Admin and Company User links are visible.
When these 1st level menu items are clicked the 2nd level sub menus need to be displayed when navigated to the 1st level index page and so on for the third level menus.
I need to be able to remember the location as well so the menu stays open on the correct page.
The annoying thing is that if i was allowed to do this in Coldfusion this would only take me a little while but i don't know much JavaScript therefore am a bit stuck. I am not allowed to use libraries either such as JQuery, MooTools
Another challenge is to style the 'active' link locations.
When you are at the first level the class of the anchor needs to be selected_bg.
When in a sub of said first level the class of that selected anchor needs to be selected_bg and the first level needs to change to selected.
For the third level both the above stays the same but then the third level takes the class of selectorThird when active.
