I have a website with an admin area for my clients. The input text is then inserted in a page on their website - inside a <p> tag. What I'm trying to do is locate a script that would allow them to use such tags as <b>, <i>, <u>, but not others like <p>, <div>, etc. Does someone know of such a script?

I have just setup jeditable for a text area and this works fine however when I activate / click on the text area to bring up the editor, the content is filled with br tags (example below). How to convert the br tags into tags before it is displayed?

JQuery code
$(".editable_textarea").editable("update-comment.php", {
indicator : '<img src="/intranet/media/icons/indicator.gif">',
type : 'textarea',
submitdata: { _method: "put" },
select : true,
submit : 'OK',
width : 400,
rows : 3,
cancel : 'cancel',
cssclass : "editable",

I am able to append html <a> tags inside a div. I added 60px to each <a> tag created except for the first <a> tag which has 0px. These px's I added are in the css value of top. That's way each <a> tag will be appended downwards. Now I made with these <a> tags a checkbox input tag. they are named all the same name but pass different values. When you click the checkboxes and hit my delete button... it removes the checkboxes that were selected and the <a> tag that was selected to be deleted. all checked will be deleted when the delete button is pressed. That's all neat and dandy... but the problem comes when for example lets say I got 6 rows of <a> tags with check boxes.
Lets say 2 and 4 got selected and deleted... well wherever their position was it's now blank. I want to make number 3 to move back one position. have 5 move 2 times. So 5 takes number 3's place. and 6 will move 2 times. it will move to take 4's place. So now 6 won't be called 6 anymore now it be 4 , 5 would be 3 . then 3 would be 2. 6 minus 2 equals 4 so that be how it should replace the deleted <a> tags spaces. I would want to rename those. What I am doing is I have a checkout page. This is where customers can add orders in to a list so they can buy more then 1 stuff at the same time or at one transaction.
I just want them if they added too many items or made mistakes they can easily delete them from the list. Now I added 60px to the css top value... but since we are going in reverse then here comes the tricky part. Lets go back to my example where we deleted 2 and 4 out of a total of 6 numbers. Any number beyond 2 and 4 will get their css values subtracted by 60px 2 times so it be a loop and that css value would be the top value. Now any number after 2 but not after 4 then I would subtract 60px for only 1 time. which I still need to loop this. It looks like I need a loop based on total numbers that be 6 in our example. So I would have 6 and every loop completed it would subtract 6 by 1.
Inside the loop. I would need to check the ones not deleted to what they stand based on the total numbers and if they are greater then the two numbers. The problem is that I would need o generate if statements because that be based on how many were selected to be deleted. So this would vary. In our case we would check if 6 is greater then 2 and 4 and if so then loop the increase in pixes 2 times so we subtract 60px 2 times. then we then look at each number and test them. If they are not behind 2 or 4 then don't do anything to them but if they are behind 2 then we will loop to subtract 60px's one time.
The problem is that when I delete the <a> tags there is a missing gap displayed... I want it that my list adjusts so no matter how many are delete and if they are not in order... the they are deleted the <a> tags still should be able to adjust or readjust so the list is in order once again. So the example above we eliminated numbers 5 and 6 we deleted 2 and 4 so 3 took 2's place , 5 took 3's place and 6 took 4's place and 6 got renamed to 4 , 5 renamed to 3 and 3 renamed to 2. so 5 and 6 no longer exist. In my real code these numbers be items listed. just a number to associate their reference in the list.

I'm attempting to use javascript but have a feeling that i'm failing terribly.
I have five div tags each contating a set of list items, when one of these list items is clicked i want the original div tag to become hidden and the relevant one shown.
Here's what code i have, it's not including the css as its somewhere in the region of 1500 lines and just positions sprites!

I've already taken one college course in javascript, but I'm trying to increase my knowledge of javascript by working through the book "Sams Teach Yourself Javascript in 24 Hours". Everything is going well, but there is one exercise that I can't figure out. We are supposed to adjust the code (see below) so that the names are output to the textbox in a numbered list. This comes in a chapter before loops and decisions are covered, so I assume we are to do it without using them.
what I am missing here ... if it is something simple or obvious, I am going to go hide my face in shame
Code:
// initialize the counter and the array
var numnames = 0;
var names = new Array();

I would like to create an ordered list in a text area named textfield. Every time someone clicks on a link, I'd like it to add the link name to textfield1 in an ordered list. i.e., A) B) C) D).
Code:
function addMsg(text,element_id) {
document.getElementById(element_id).value += text + '
'; }
HTML Code:
<A HREF="#" onclick="addMsg('You clicked on Link1','textfield'); return false;">Click on Link 1</A>
For example, if you "Click on Link 1" 5 times, it will add this to the text area:
A) You clicked on Link1
B) You clicked on Link1
C) You clicked on Link1
D) You clicked on Link1
E) You clicked on Link1
Then, if you deleted line C), it will automatically relabel to:
A) You clicked on Link1
B) You clicked on Link1
C) You clicked on Link1
D) You clicked on Link1
Then, if you "Click on Link 1" again, the text area will again show
A) You clicked on Link1
B) You clicked on Link1
C) You clicked on Link1
D) You clicked on Link1
E) You clicked on Link1
Is this possible? The reason I want to do it is because I want users to be able to edit the text within the textarea, and copy and paste easily. Otherwise a list box would make more sense. Can't do HTML in a textarea.. though?

I am creating a small CMS module for a client. I created a little form and when they click Submit, it goes straight out into an include (.inc) file, which is connected to the web page to be displayed.
The trouble I am having is that I'd like to create an additional button that will insert some text (certain html tags to make their life easier, etc) - I got it to work, actually. The script executes and the text is inserted - but once the script runs and the page refreshes (or whatever it does), the text then disappears. The only way I can seem to get it to stay put is when I use "onmouseup" instead of "onclick" - which means that every time the user accidentally mouses over the thing, it inserts the text.

I would like to have a drop downs for all of these values, when a user selects one of these values it will filter the results into a list. Ex. user selects a part that has a Height of 6 and width of 10 it will only list those parts. As I said earlier, I have a script that will give me all the parts, however I am not able to make the onchange list parts with multiple values.

I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.

I have been trying to make an expand/collapse (essentially accordion) list. So far, everything works and looks fine in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome, but in IE8, the page height is static when it loads, with a page height being as if all headers in the list were expanded. The expand/collapse functionality works,but as you can imagine, there is this big gap of space after the list.
The html markup uses <h2> tags for the always-visible header portion and a <div> for the expanding/collapsing content. The <div> content contains form elements and everything is enclosed in a form tag.Anyways, here is the jQuery code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('<img src="plus.png" class="icon" />').prependTo('.header');
$('.content').hide();[code].....

i am writing a script that will update a dropdown list based on the selection of a previous list. the script is run by a PHP script, so instead of posting the PHP, i will post an example client-side script. the hierachy is: category, sub category, brand (but sometimes there exists no sub category and the PHP script queries and adds brands instead) everything works correctly, except for one major issue: you can not change the selection of the third (brand) box this could be an easy fix for some coders, but i am not experienced in javascript and could really use some help. here is an example script, sorry it is so long

I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County).I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database.This piece of code is working well . . . .
<?php
$link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database');[code]......
