Waiting For Images To Load Before Display Image?
Jan 11, 2011
Here is a snippet of code that I have. First off the recursion doesn't appear to be working as it only ever calls the addThumb function once and it should be called it more often as it never gets to the point of popping up the alert box "Loading". addThumbNails in this case is being called first which then calls addThumb. I have tried a preloading function for images with the same issues. The result of the current code can be seen here.
http:[url]....The thumbnails should load below a main image. The main image also isn't loading for the same reason at this point. Hit reload and the page reloads correctly.
Code:
/***************************************
Adds the thumbnails to the scrollBar
!!!Need to randomize the order.[code]......

I have the following code:
$("#printme").queue("printQueue", function (next) {
$(this).load("print.html", function () {
$(this).ready(function () {
passPrint(next);
[Code].....
I want the images on #printme to finish loading before the passPrint function runs, but everything I've tried does not work. The ready() in there does not work.

I embedded a s3slider jquery plugin which has a sequence of more than 80 pictures.That causes a problem when loading the page,since when the slider starts the page completion get stuck.To overcome this I thought I could make it run after $(window).load and somehow it starts running after the page content is fully loaded but ... it has to wait for the whole set of 80 pictures which is not very practical. first it has to fully load the page content and graphics,except for the imgs under the slider, once that's done, instead of waiting for all the 80 pictures, it has to start running after the first 3 pictures of the banner are loaded...but this doesn't work...
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$(window:not('li.bannerImage img')).load(function () { [code].....

I have an onclick that triggers ajax which calls a php script to pull data from MySQL. This information is then displayed in a div. The problem I am having is that sometimes pulling the data from MySQL takes 2-3 seconds, so the div is empty for about 2-3 seconds. How would I go about adding an animated "Loading" gif to display in the div while it is waiting to display the content?

I need to have a page wait till the entire thing is loaded before the user interacts with it. I would like for it to do a lightbox styled grey box over it or even something like plesk does where it fades out the background (same effect really) until the page has loaded

I've recently implemented this really cool jQuery preloader called queryLoader [URL]. When a visitor comes to my site they are fed all the important images for the entire site (it's a very small site). During that time queryLoader [URL] shows a percentage loading animation, and once all the images are loaded it wipes the screen & displays the website.
I've placed another custom animation in the "page loading" div, and i want to make sure it loads first so that it is displayed while the rest of the images get downloaded. I've tried pre-loading with javascript as the very first script in my header, before jQuery or queryLoader get loaded, like this:
<script type="text/javascript">
pic1= new Image(250,300);
pic1.src="images/page_loading.gif";
</script>
[Code]....
However, this doesn't seem to be that effective. When i clear browser cache and reload the page, the page_loading.gif sometimes doesn't appear until the site is almost completely loaded. Is there a more effective way to assure the page_loading.gif gets loaded before any other images?
My site is [URL]

I have an image gallery on the top-left. It is the kind where you click on a thumbnail and a larger image shows up.What would I need to do to make it so it would show a loading image WHILE the picture is loading? (Especially for my over 60% of visitors who have dial up). Right now, if I click on an image, I have to wait a little while for it to load (I DO NOT WANT THE IMAGES TO PRELOAD)

I have a small application that tries to launch a slide show for a set of pictures (jpg). It is implemented by a timed ajax routine to get the next picture filename and updating the image src field to show the next picture. The problem is that the actual down load varies significantly in time, based mostly on a clients access speed and the resolution size of the picture. Since all this happens asynchronously, the delay time routine gets invoked and is exhausted before the download is completed in many cases. Is there any way to start the new src coming and then detecting/waiting when it is complete?

I have also Googled this issue plenty of times, but nothing seems to be working 100% and/or the "solution" found is several years old.I have a text field on a webpage where a user enters in a URL to an image and then clicks a button to preview it. I want to restrict the image's size, so if it is larger than 600x450 then it will be automatically resized to those dimensions.The problem I have with this code is that the myImage.onerror event always fires if the image is large. My question is: how do you make the script "wait" for the image to load completely before trying to retrieve the width and height? Or, even better, how do you prevent the image failing to load?
Also, I know how to get the image's dimensions via PHP; however, according to the getimagesize() function's documentation on php.net, the function downloads the image to the server before retrieving the image's width and height, which could be potential trouble if a malicious or ignorant user enters a URL to an excessively large image.

I'm having difficulty loading images via Ajax on a site that I've been working on.I'm performing the ajax by using the Request.HTML object of the MooTools framework. Basically, I'm just passing some parameters to a php script which outputs some image tags and then I insert that HTML into a pre-defined content div. For some reason though, it seems that big images don't seem to load consistently when using this technique. Usually, they will just show up as broken images, but when I navigate to the url of the image that is 'broken', it displays just fine. Also, occasionally after navigating to the actual url of the image, my browser will cache the image and then it will display just fine when loading it through Ajax.

I need a JavaScript (or something else) that will fade out the web site, on load, and display a series of images, then display a "Continue" button to go back to the web site. I have an idea for a cute (and funny) way to get people interested in my site that has a weird name. I searched high and low (Google!, amongst others) for anything that would be close to what I need, to no avail.

I tried creating a small widget that when a user clicks on one of the 4 buttons (links), instead of it taking the user to a new page it will load a specific div from another page is the div container above it.
HTML (excerpt):
<div imagePane></div>
<div buttonLinks>
<ul>
<li class="button1"><a>BUTTON 1</a></li>
[Code].....
The problem I'm having is that the content of the other page's div container loads, but that actual image that I set as the background does not.
I attempted to use .load() to serve up an image instead, $('#imagePane').load('path/to/graphic.jpg');but that didn't seem to work at all. Is there another function for this type of thing?

I am trying to incorporate Lightbox2's image gallery script into my site but I'm having difficulty.Here's where I'm accessing the script from: http:[url]....
The image thumbs are showing up but the larger images are not. I changed the 'body onload' html tag to window.onload as I'm using two different javascripts on this page and I don't want them to conflict.I've also added initLightbox() so I don't know what's wrong! Is there just an issue with the images or is there something wrong with the script.
<script type="text/javascript">
window.onload = function(){ // use this instead of <body onload …>
MM_preloadImages(MM_preloadImages('../3websites/home4.jpg','../3websites/amenities1.jpg','../3websites/inquiry1.jpg','../3websites/rates1.jpg','../3websites/photos1.jpg'); initLightbox()")
}
</script>

I seem to keep chaging my mind about the best way to do this. I am trying to make a gallery that will display images on a page (without a database!) from a folder when a link is cliked. I have used PHP to read the file paths into an array - and this seems to work perfectly. Its output is similar to this:
galleryarray[43]="Autumn 08/Allt Ddrew (7 9)/DSC_0315 (3).JPG";
galleryarray[44]="Autumn 08/Allt Ddrew (7 9)/DSC_0332 (3).JPG";
galleryarray[45]="Autumn 08/Misc/100_7515.JPG";
galleryarray[46]="Autumn 08/Misc/DSC_0042 (5).JPG";

I don't post on the javascript forum much, because I don't program in javascript. I do most my programming in PHP and I recently designed a script to grab an image everytime it is updated. The images are checked, to see if they exist in the directory, and if not, are added. So in the end, I will have a series of images.
I want to know use a simple (javascript?) script to go through the directory (or an array of the filenames) and display them at X images per second.
