Countdown By Hours Not By Date?

Nov 1, 2010

I've looked around the web and tried to find a Javascript Countdown, however, the only ones I could really find were the ones that countdown to a particular date [code]Problem is, it counts down to a particular date, and I don't want that. The reason why is because everyone's time will be different, and I want it to be a "global" countdown, fr an event happening on a website (like the launch of something).Is it possible to, other then going by date, go by days/hours/minutes/seconds?So if I enter say, 2 days, 5 hours, 0 minutes, 0 seconds, it'll start counting down EXACTLY 2 days and 5 hours, and not change per people's time zone?

Countdown Date Function Problems

May 3, 2007

I am working on a hw assignment which gave step-by-step instructions, but my page is still not displaying right (the instructions were pretty vague, but I followed them as the chapter described). I have only had one chapter of JavaScript (in this class which is HTML) so I'm not very familiar with it. I've gone over the code a bunch of times, but still cannot find where I went wrong. Nothing shows up on the web page at all, and I'm not sure why. Here's the code for the .js file: Code:

Internet - Date Countdown Timer ?

Aug 18, 2010

I have managed to find something what I want on the internet (Date Countdown Timer) but the only problem with it is that it will countdown to the date according to the persons location, I want something really simple, I want a 60 Minute Countdown that isnt relative to anyones location.

This is what im using at the moment: [url]

If it was possible to ammend the time to (servertime) or something other than the users geo-location timezone, it would be perfect.

This is what I have sofar:

[url]

Also on the timer how would I do a replace when seconds is less than 10, it currently displays (45:9 instead of 45:09)

Forcing An Image To Display Before Loading Other Images?

Aug 8, 2010

I've recently implemented this really cool jQuery preloader called queryLoader [URL]. When a visitor comes to my site they are fed all the important images for the entire site (it's a very small site). During that time queryLoader [URL] shows a percentage loading animation, and once all the images are loaded it wipes the screen & displays the website.

I've placed another custom animation in the "page loading" div, and i want to make sure it loads first so that it is displayed while the rest of the images get downloaded. I've tried pre-loading with javascript as the very first script in my header, before jQuery or queryLoader get loaded, like this:

<script type="text/javascript">
pic1= new Image(250,300);
pic1.src="images/page_loading.gif";
</script>

[Code]....

However, this doesn't seem to be that effective. When i clear browser cache and reload the page, the page_loading.gif sometimes doesn't appear until the site is almost completely loaded. Is there a more effective way to assure the page_loading.gif gets loaded before any other images?

My site is [URL]

Waiting For Images To Load Before Display Image?

Jan 11, 2011

Here is a snippet of code that I have. First off the recursion doesn't appear to be working as it only ever calls the addThumb function once and it should be called it more often as it never gets to the point of popping up the alert box "Loading". addThumbNails in this case is being called first which then calls addThumb. I have tried a preloading function for images with the same issues. The result of the current code can be seen here.

http:[url]....The thumbnails should load below a main image. The main image also isn't loading for the same reason at this point. Hit reload and the page reloads correctly.

Code:
/***************************************
Adds the thumbnails to the scrollBar

Turning Seconds Into Time Display In Countdown?

Jun 29, 2010

I am having a problem trying find out how to turn a number of seconds into a 00:00 format to do a countdown, and when it reaches 0:00 to redirect the window...

here is what I have figured out:

Code:

var tID = 0;
var startTime = null;
var timeout = 5*(60*1000);

[Code]....

Also, if they click the Button that says, "I'm still here" to ping the server to keep them on the page working without logging them out, will that code cause a javascript error because now the tooltip popup window that has the timeCountDown will no longer be open, so how would them clicking the ping server button stop that from causing an error when it goes to update timeCountDown?

Advanced Countdown Timer - When User Refreshes Page - Countdown Starts From 5 Minutes Again

Aug 7, 2010

I found the below script that works fine for the actual countdown, but when the user refreshes the page, the countdown starts from 5 minutes again.

What I am trying to do, is handle users that put something in their shopping cart and then get side tracked or what ever reason and that same product then being purchased by another person when I only have 1 left.

So using PHP I am going to subtract the qty of that product by 1 and then I want the website to either put it back, if the users checkout times out, or if a normal process it is taken out permanently.

So long story short I think I need some sort of 'memory' for the javascript, so the user can't just keep refreshing and it starting from 5 minutes each time. Also it needs to be carried through to other pages.

Countdown Script - Countdown Jumps Back Up To Accommodate Tomorrow's Deadline?

Nov 15, 2010

I'm really struggling to write a bit of JS that displays the amount of time left to when your order will be shipped.For Example: If it's

1:05pm on Sunday, it would say: "Place your order within the next 1 day 2 hours 55 minutes and your order will ship Monday"

Another example: If it's 2:00pm on Saturday, it would say: "Place your order within the next 2 hours and your order will ship today"

I need to be able to change the cut off point from 4pm if needed...It must also ignore bank holiday (Ideally, it would have a section in the code where I could put all 'excluded' dates, e.g. 12/25/2009, 01/01/2010, etc. - This way I could keep it up to date).The code must take into account that we only deliver Monday to Friday (Therefore on a Friday after 4pm, it would not say delivery tomorrow, but Monday).Once the deadline hits (4pm), the countdown jumps back up to accommodate tomorrow's deadline, etc.Amazon does a very similar thing,

JQuery :: Countdown Plugin: Restart Countdown Timer Every 24 Hours?

May 27, 2011

Im putting together a pair of countdown timers that need to restart every 24 hours. One restarts at noon and the other at midnight. Im using Keith Woods plugin @ [URL]

So far I have been able to implement his serverTime function to sync to the servers clock and instantiated 2 countdown timers. so far so good.

What I need to do now is 2 things:

1. I need to define today + X hours to countdown to instead of setting a exact date like in this example:

var noonCountDown = new Date();
noonCountDown = new Date(noonCountDown.getFullYear() + 0, 5 - 1, 28, -12);// 2011, May, 28, 12pm

2. Once today is defined dynamically I believe that may just solve the problem and reset the timer. But I may not be thinking clearly here. So I guess Im just wondering if this is how you would go about making the countdown restart upon completion.

Here is my code that Ive got so far:

$(function () {
function serverTime() {
var time = null;
$.ajax({url: 'http://www.localhost.com/projects/countdown/servertime.php',

[Code].....

I need a JavaScript (or something else) that will fade out the web site, on load, and display a series of images, then display a "Continue" button to go back to the web site. I have an idea for a cute (and funny) way to get people interested in my site that has a weird name. I searched high and low (Google!, amongst others) for anything that would be close to what I need, to no avail.

Passing Server Time - Countdown Timer That Currently Uses The Client's System Time To Calculate The Countdown

Feb 4, 2011

I'm using a javascript-based countdown timer that currently uses the client's system time to calculate the countdown. I assume that this line of code is where this is performed:

Code:

I'm trying to make the script use server time instead as some people may have wrong dates/times set or live in different time zones etc.

So what I did was use a bit of php:

PHP Code:

This gives a result but now the countdown is 30 days off. I am testing on my local xampp server (which also uses system time) so there should be no discrepancy. I also tried adding

Code:

But no difference.

I can post the whole script if required but it is reasonably long.

Way To Display Future Date

Aug 7, 2011

I am a librarian and am looking for a way to get javascript to display a simple future date for books we need to pull off our shelf. The date needs to be 6 days into the future. I want the date to display as either a hyphenated number:ie. 8-13 (for August 13th)I've tried this a number of ways, but I am just not getting the simple date format that I want. I need the script to automatically account for number of days in the month, etc. and adjust accordingly. For instance, if it was July 31st, I would want the script to display Aug. 6 or 8-6.

I am not well-versed when it comes to javascript (read ignorant), but I posted below what I have managed to cobble together after searching online and playing with the ww3 school's "TryitEditor".

Formatting Date Display

Jul 22, 2003

Within a pair of <p> tags I have two different scripts, each called by its own #include statement, and each displaying the current date - each in a different format.

The first calls only for the year( yyyy ). The second calls for a complete date ( mm/dd/yyyy ).

However when it displays,
- the first displays correctly ( yyyy )
- the second wrongly displays ( yyyy ) instead of ( mm/dd/yyyy )

How can I get the second date to display correctly?

Display Date And Time

Jan 7, 2005

<div id="pagedate"> (<em><?php echo date("l"); ?></em>) <?php echo date("F d, Y"); ?> <span id="pagetime"><?php echo date("h:i:s A"); ?></span></div>

I have two questions:

1. How can I make it dynamic, so that the minutes and seconds change even if a page isn't refreshed?

2. How can I make it display the VIEWER'S local time? It shows midnight when it's 9 p.m. my time, or something like that.

Also, would displaying seconds eat up a lot of bandwidth? If so, I might limit it to minutes.

Dynamic Images Based On Date - Hours Of Operations?

Sep 22, 2010

I've been trying to figure this script out for awhile and I've hit a wall. Basically, what I want to do for my organization's website is to use JS to display an image containing our hours and have it change each day of the week.

The hard part (for me) is that there are certain days we're closed. Ideally, I'd like a separate "We're Closed" message to overwrite the image carrying our hours on specific days (major holidays like Xmas, New Years, Vet's Day, furlough periods, etc. etc.).

Here's the code I've managed to cobble together (I have a real basic understanding of JS, so I've been pulling scripts from sites offering free copy/pastecode):

[Code]...

For the most part, this code works just fine. However, if I jump my system clock to December 24, the "closure.png" comes up appears ALONGSIDE the hours image for that day of the week. In other words, I've got two images appearing right next to each other - that's not what I want.

How can I work the code in such a way that when a closure date comes up (in this case, 12/24), just the "closure.png" image shows up by itself?
