I work for a company called Best of the Best (www.botb.com). We use Flash countdown clocks to mark the end of our competitions. The issue we now have is that our clients are using mobile platforms more and more and as bloody Apple wont support flash (not fully anyway) we need the option to detect whether our users have flash and if not then replace the current <OBJECT>Blah Blah Parameters etc</OBJECT> with <DIVCLASS="NON_FLASH_CONTAINER">All other bits in middle</DIV>Is this at all possible?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the answer of the following. Suppose, I am trying to build a web page to conduct a fictious online Poll and people vote their favourite candidate. Now each voter is allowed to vote only one candidate from any one party. I have made the code with JavaScript and HTML. But the problem is that, after voting the Candidate and pressing Submit, the page should open another new page where the voter must select any one name of the party to which the candidate belongs and Submit again. But my problem is that, I am trying to open that new page in the place of the existing page but its only opening in a new window. Putting '_self' doesn't work! (I am using radio buttons. It also needs form vaildation so the voter must vote!)

Use any html file of yours as party_names.html. If you omit "_self" from it, then it'll work properly. But that opens a new window for party_names.html. But I want it to open the new page in the same window carrying the data selected from both pages in order to process in the server.

This is what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to load a flash movie
transparently over my existing html page (not covering the full
screen, but 75% of it), so it is kind of similar to a "splash screen"
in the respect it is to be an introductory screen.
I already have a flash movie made (although for some reason
WMODE=TRANSPARENT isn't working), but we'll get to that in a sec. I
also already have all the html for the playing the movie and
displaying my page. The html to display the page is made up of a
bunch of table rows within a <DIV> tag.
During onLoad of the <body> element, I call a javascript method to
actually play the flash. The flash does play, but what happens is
that instead of playing on top of the existing page, it plays at the
top of the page and if you scroll down, there is the rest of the html
page (the tables and stuff). I dont want it at the top, but to
actually overlay the tables until it finishes playing, then to go away
automatically.
I'm struggling with the html part of this. I know browsers render
from top to bottom, but I dont know how to display over the existing
stuff.
I toyed with the idea of making the flash into a popup in a new window
(window.open), but to make it look right, I'd have to make it a
transparent window, borderless, etc... and I'm not sure thats the
right way to do it either.
I have a basic flash gallery that I embedded into my site (HTML & CSS). When viewed in Firefox everything is fine (840px by 427px), but when viewed in IE the gallery changes size & needs to be (887px by 440px) to be viewed correctly.
So, I put an Javascript If Then Else statement. Now it targets and changes in the IE browser (width='887' height='440') , but it also changes the Firefox one to 887x440 when it should stay the original 840x427.
Doing my own fitness bootcamp site and want to fancy up my front page. My front page loads a picture and I want it to load like flash. What could I do? I have all the Adobe Software, just don't know how to use it.

I have a html form that uses javascript for validation, this is an assignment that consists of a form that sells hard drives from three different manufacturers, more specifically the part im stuck on is where if a manufacturer hoes have a number in the number of drives textbox, javascript needs to check to see that one of the radio buttons in that row is checked, if no radio button is checked
an alert is displayed, however when I do select a radio button I still get the alert I used a "if...else if...else" construction but my logic is not well structured and thereby I get those problems, I have included the code down below if anyone is interested in helping a newbie out code...

This seems to work perfectly across all browsers except for IE (latest version).
In IE the only problem is that the radio buttons have to lose focus before the span will change to visible. I would like the "specify" field to display immediately after the radio button changes to yes, rather than waiting for the buttons to lose focus.
How can I align all radio buttons? The table is generated dynamically. The table can have 0 or more than 1 rows.I can�t change the HTML of the table. The table is created with a button click which has my Javascript code.My page Source is :

I am trying to redirect the user to different URLs using HTML radio buttons and the Javascript getElementById, but it the value seems to only remain with the 1st item.
Here's my code.
I have created no flash pages and flash pages, but instead of creating a portal at the front of the site that leads you to a flash site and a no flash site id like to do it so the page detects flash or not, and redirects to whichever URL.
Is this possible, or do multiple browsers cause problems ?

I have the source code to an old BASIC program that a friend of mine
would like to run online. I am a beginner at JS, but I think that it
would be a good choice for the project. My background is in C/C++ and

I am considering writing an online graphing utility. I plan it to be
of good quality, such that an undergraduate university student can
print it out and include it with a lab report.
Data points will be entered, having been generated by another program;
the utility will NOT accept functions for plotting--just the data
points.
As far as I know, Javascript does not provide graphing functionality.

I have a webpage where I have listed some classical songs so that page visitors can listen to song online. All files are in Real Audio format either with .rm or .ra extension. These individual audio files are linked with .ram files so that when visitor’s clicks on the song title, this .ram file launches RealPlayer and the clicked song starts playing. Once a song is played it stops. If user wants to hear another song, user needs to click on another song title to play that song. This is annoying for users.
However, I have seen on some websites where user can select the songs by clicking on the “Check Boxes� next to each song titles and play by clicking on the “Play� button. Therefore, user can select lists of their favourite songs by clicking on check box and play these together one after another. There are two other buttons also available for users: “Select All� songs and “Reset�.
