If Then Else Statement - Basic Flash Gallery That I Embedded Into My Site - HTML And CSS
Sep 23, 2009
I have a basic flash gallery that I embedded into my site (HTML & CSS). When viewed in Firefox everything is fine (840px by 427px), but when viewed in IE the gallery changes size & needs to be (887px by 440px) to be viewed correctly.
So, I put an Javascript If Then Else statement. Now it targets and changes in the IE browser (width='887' height='440') , but it also changes the Firefox one to 887x440 when it should stay the original 840x427.

I've got the following code block in one of my pages ...
<?php if ($config->theme->short_name == 'default') { ?> <script type="text/javascript">
[Code]...
Shouldn't the code above set the .html property of the element with class "error_box" to the specified text? I've tried using an id instead of a class i.e. $('#error_box").html(...) but that doesn't work either. I've also tried using the .text() method.
Manually using document.getElementById("error_box") works without any problems - it's only jQuery that won't do what I tell it. :-)
Industry feedback in 'advertising world' is that I really could do with moving mini flash vids as thumbnail links, not static thumbnails if possible. This is where I am up to for you kind folk to see - [URL] The playback of the flash vids (in the big playback area right/mid of screen) from the JPG thumbnail links on the TOP ROW works FINE, but how do I similarly call that 'BIGFLASH' function to display the video right-centre linking from the JW Flash Player vid thumbnail equivalents on rows TWO and THREE?
Do Flash vids defo overide all other functionality (and thus the 'linking hand' hovering icon) we could otherwise use to "couch" the object (ie, in this case, the calling of the flash routine) like using javascript OnClick, etc or do we need to try and "con" the FLASHVARS within the flash player using the flashvar "DISPLAYCLICK:" ( http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/wiki/FlashVars ) to do something javascripty and invoke the 'BIGFLASH' function? The parameter options seem limited though don't they... as far as I can tell you can't use the DISPLAYCLICK flashvar to call a bespoke JS routine. I wonder if it is possible to put a transparent layer OVER the flash vid in JW Player and use that as the link, or does flash not allow other layers superimposed over it?
My hands seem to be bound unless I am not seeing the wood for the trees! I really like the layout as it is and the coding and the fact I'm nearly there so I would hate to have to do something radically different at this stage. Why is such an obvious function so difficult to achieve?!
was wondering if I could get some direction on something that I have been wondering about for a while. There have several flash video players that I have seen that only start to load/play the video when the object is visible on the screen.
For instance, if I click a link to an html page with an auto playing flv on it, and then minimize the window. The video will only start to play/load once I maximize the window again. The other instance I have seen it is with the position of the page. So if an flv is placed onto a long html page, all the way at the bottom, it will only begin to load/play once I have scrolled to make it visible.
I have done some searching but have not been able to determine what this would even be refered to as. Is it controlled by Javascript or Actionscript, or is this just a the way flash player functions?
So i have a form that has 3 radio buttons and i want to validate so that you must select at least 2 Yes's. I am new to javascript so excuse my poorly written statement. It is non-functional, how to change this in order to make it functional.
I have been trying all morning to put a basic slideshow into my site from the below link[URL]... am pretty new to this and having to host my images on Photobucket as I use Big Cartel. I cannot figure out where to put the image links and do they need -
is it possibile to detect and prevent through javascript the opening of a new window caused by a embedded flash object? In the html code this embedded object resides within a given div with id.
I would want to know about it because every time I open the page, the flash embedded object opens another window, and it is a little bit noisy.
I was just hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction of what to use? Or if it is even possible - I have seen many galleries but not one quite liek this - but surely it must be doable?
I purchased and downloaded this flash gallery from [URL]... Now, of course I'm looking to insert this versatile resizable flash gallery, into my website that was designed in Dream-weaver cs3. Are there any good tutorials you might know to help me do this ?The Flash Photo Gallery I downloaded was made with Flash Version 8+ and AS version: AS2.
I work for a company called Best of the Best (www.botb.com). We use Flash countdown clocks to mark the end of our competitions. The issue we now have is that our clients are using mobile platforms more and more and as bloody Apple wont support flash (not fully anyway) we need the option to detect whether our users have flash and if not then replace the current <OBJECT>Blah Blah Parameters etc</OBJECT> with <DIVCLASS="NON_FLASH_CONTAINER">All other bits in middle</DIV>Is this at all possible?
I am trying to set up a web site for an art gallery. That is for new talents so I have no budget.I am not a web designer and I am facing some barriers. My problem is, I guess, about going around with the DOM node tree. My page looks like this:[code]How it works:In first place, after page has been loaded,I am using frame 4 to run a HTML form. After submit, iframe 3.1 is populated with thumbnails according to the query. When a thumbnail is clicked,I succeeded in bringing the corresponding text, talking about the artwork, on iframe 5.1 to do so, I change the html source in iframe 5.1.I am using for that: [code] The idea was about doing the same with the frame 4 that is for a larger picture of the artwork. But first I need to get rid of the form once it was submitted (bring a new HTML with a dummy transparent gif to be swapped with the desired picture). But how can I bring a new html in frame 4? After the form is submitted the 'action' moves to iframe 3.1.I tried changing the html source using getElementById but I could not find a way to get to the right object. Two src attibutes must be changed with code written in iframe 3.1. (where the thumbnails are clicked). But How can I address and change the HTML src code in FRAME 4 ? How can I address and change the src image in the new code loaded in FRAME 4 ?I have both attributes in variables but don't know how to get to the target elements
I have a flash banner commercial that has to appear on a news site. it has live video and sound in it and im going over the size limit on that site (100kb).
They told me that i could do it like this company and host the file on a different site but make it appear on the news site with a script. Heres how it looks like.code...
I'm in love with the David Chipperfield Architects site and would like to try and get some of the features from the site working with jQuery instead of Flash I'm sure most of it is pretty achievable but I'm new to javascript and jQuery so I'm not sure where to start. The navigation and the way the content loads are the main things I want to try and implement.
I have been looking for a solution for a long time. I have embedded a SWF app in html page using SWFObject. Now I need to give the Flash app the address where it is currently embedded, since the same SWF file is embedded in more than one locations! So the Flash app is supposed to pull the right content according to its current position
I'm trying to figure out if there's an easy way to execute all the Javascript code included or referenced in an HTML document even if given code references DOM objects.I basically have some Javascript code that makes a POST to my server. The POST payload includes a unique identifier for that html page, so I know if the JS was successfully executed if I see the unique identifier in my server's logs.
At first I wanted to test if the javascript in 5 pages worked, so I manually opened the 5 sites and verified my logs. I then wanted to see if the JS in 100 pages worked, so I wrote a little script that launches 100 tabs in FF staggered (I also used a nifty tool -- autocomplete, to close old tabs). I then wrote a utility to go through my server's logs and verify that the 100 unique identifiers that I was expecting were there... So this also worked fine! But now I want to move forward and test 1K or maybe even 10K sites. Is there anything I can use to execute Javascript embedded in an html page? Hopefully asynchronously?
I came across a very odd browser behavior when trying to modify a css class using javascript and at the same time having a base html statement in my html file.Without the base html statement, all browsers work fine and I can change the css class definition using javascript easily. With a base html statement, only FireFox still works while Internet Explorer and Google Chrome dont work anymore. If there is a cross-domain issue, while one browser does work and the others dont? An example of what I'm talking about, with the base statement:
http://freebsdcluster.org/~casaschi/tmp/example-base.html Without the base statement: http://freebsdcluster.org/~casaschi/tmp/example-nobase.html
how to tweak the code in the case with the base html statement in order for the javascript to work with all browser (modifying the class definition) ?I want to be able to manipulare css classes with javascript when a base html statement is in my html code. This is essentially the code:
I am working on a website that will contain YouTube Photoshop tutorial videos which I am creating.
The videos will be added as embedded objects. I want to use a dropdown menu so the user can select which video will appear. The video itself will be contained inside of a single table cell. The content of that cell will depend on which video is selected in the dropdown.
Is there a way to do this? I have some javascript experience but I am for sure still a novice. Also, is there a link to a sample script that would be similar to what I am trying to do? I've been searching the internet but I haven't found anything similar to this yet.
I have a navigation link ("galleries") that 'onclick' displays a sub-menu of other links (the specific galleries). This is on the home page of my site. When a user first views the home page, the sub-menu does not display, until they click "galleries".
On other pages of my site, the "galleries" link is one of the options in my navigation. That link takes users back to the home page which is what I want it to do.But what I'm looking for to happen is if the user is directed back to the home page from within another page on my site, I'd like the link on the homepage to automatically display the sublinks under the "gallery" link. This is so that users don't have to click "galleries" twice in order to see the submenu.
For example: If a user is on the 'about me' page, in the navigation there is a 'galleries' link. If they click it, it takes them to the home page. They would then have to click on 'galleries' again on the home page in order to display the sub-menu of individual galleries.I want them to show up immediately, but only when directed back to the home page from within my site. I think I do that with an 'if' statement, but I'm not sure of the syntax.
I have a external file for example abc.js ,in this abc.js file no functions ,it contains some scripting,i want to call the scripting file though html I use the code
