Onclick Triggered After Onblur On Mac Browsers?
Jul 13, 2010
We have a couple of textboxes in a form. All of which are validated onblur. The form is submitted onclick of an anchor tag.SubmitWindows platform browsers(Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE): When validateMyText() returns false, onclick is not triggered. This is the expected and existing behaviour.Mac platform browsers (Firefox, Safari): Even after validateMyText() returns false, onclick event is triggered, which submits the form.Background: This is a legacy application that was supported only on Windows platform and IE browser. Now it has to be enhanced to work on all the browsers(Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE) on Windows and Firefox, Safari on Mac.

I'm using jquery-validation for validation of an edit form. The behaviour of the onBlur validation is a bit strange.
I've put an example up on my webserver here: [URL]
It's using a patched version of jQuery Validation with some additional console debug output. Works in Chrome and Firebug.
This patch for version 1.9.0 fixes the problem, but I'm not sure of there are other dependencies I haven't considered.

I am trying to use a simple JavaScript command to close the window when it is no longer in focus: BODY onBlur=window.close();
This works in IE 5.1 for Mac and in Mozilla/Netscape, but in the Windows IE browsers I have tried, clicking anywhere closes the window, even clicking on the Flash animation in the window itself. Very bad. Code:

*The Situation*
A traditional situation where HTML form inputs are checked...
(if simplified then it would look something like this)
<form onSubmit="return checkWholeForm(this)">
<!-- other inputs -->
<input type="text" name="anInput" onBlur="dataCheck(this, ...)" />
<span id="error_anInput"></span>
<!-- other inputs -->
<input type="submit" name="btnSubmit" />
</form>
dataCheck validates the inputs value and if something is wrong, then..
document.getElementById('error_anInput').innerHTML = 'Error!'
or if data is valid then the content of span is removed.
The checkWholeForm function iterates through all elements on the form
and triggers onblur() for each input... leading to executing function
dataCheck (and so changing innerHTML of some specific span elements if
needed).
*The Problem*
If I have entered incorrect data to an input and hit the submit button
with my mouse (causing the onBlur event to be triggered just right
before onSubmit) then *occasionally* for some fields the onSubmit event
is not triggered because the onClick event is not triggered. :S
As there are actually quite many complex functions (tested and these
seem OK afaik) that are doing the checks then dowes anyboudy have a clue
what type of code might break this. I thought at first that setting
innerHTML to some value during onBlur disables all waiting events but as
this is happening occasionally (on some machines) I'm in doubt...
any ideas what to check? double declaration of function/variable names?
Not deleting some object after usage? ... anything?
Waiting for any ideas...
PS. http://eix.lap.ee/test/portali_js.html in the example *occasionally*
third field generates the error - remove any content from the field
and stright hit the submit (*with mouse* - to create onBlur and onClick
at the same time).

I have an editable div, when clicked displays two buttons - save and cancel. When either button is pressed the respective function takes place. The problem I'm having is with the onblur function. When a targetElement loses focus, I want to figure out which new element gained the focus - if it is the save button then I want the save function to fire. However, if it is any other element then I want the cancel function to fire.
I'm trying to figure out once an editable div is selected and the user clicks the save button, how do I determine that the save button was clicked and trigger the save function - because with the onblur method attached to the editable div any click outside the div is interpreted as a call to the onblur method, even if the save button is clicked.
document.getElementById("cancelEdit").onclick = function(){ cancelEdit(targetElement, initialContent ); };
document.getElementById("saveEdit").onclick = function(){ saveEdit(targetElement) };
targetElement.onblur = function(){
if (document.getElementById("saveEdit").onfocus){
saveEdit(targetElement);
} else { cancelEdit(targetElement, initialContent ); }
};

I am having one td and inside td using one control(it may be any control like textbox,combobox) and am using onblur events for td and aswell as the control inside td. when am moving focus from this td to another td the parent onblur event is firing first and then child control(like textbox, combobox) onblur event is firing. The problem is am validating that entire td (what ever the value user updates) in one method. so in this scenario that validate method is calling when i move the focus onto child control. After entering the value in the child control that child control onblur event is firing and am unable to fire the parent control(td) onblur event.

<!-- RUN CHECK SELECTION JS: Button in Header -->
<SCRIPT ID="script" FOR="submit_button<%=uniqueCount%>" EVENT="onclick()">
javascript: return chkSel('<%=leg1%>','<%=leg2%>','<%=leg3%>','<%=uniqueCount%>');
</SCRIPT>
is there any way of running this code (by changing it?) on all browsers? It only works on IE, MX and DN.

Have one row of a TR trigger the TR below it with a colspan of 13 to show the additional description.
I learned that jquery and colspan don't get along too well so based off other posts I knew to put a div inside the td.
The snipped code is:
So, as you can see I want to show and hide the div with the class="mapsearchinfo".
This is what I have so far and its not working (it hides just fine, and will do an alert on click so I know its something with showing where the div is):
As you can see I'm trying to show the div below what has been clicked (with a toggle in case it needs to be closed) and also close any other open ones.
For now the full scale testing is occurring at [url]

JQuery - Event triggered by div position Is it possible to use JQuery to trigger an event from the position of a div in relation to the browser window. I have this demo pageHEREthat contains three div's positioned below each other.
When I scroll down the page I want an alert to say "Div one in view", "Div two in view" etc. I know more than one div could be visible in the browser window but I wanted it to alert the one in the centre of the window. I was thinking it would be best to fire an event when the div is a set distance from the top of the browser window - I don't know where to start with it, or if using the distance from the top of the browser is the best way.

I have been trying to archieve the following with no luck.
- We have a Java Applet that handles fileuploads
- Once the applet finished uploading the files to server, onUploadFinish() is triggered
onUploadFinish() function contains the following
Code:
As highlighted in the above code, I am unable to submit the form automatically. I am certain that onUploadFinish() is triggered because all other statements in onUploadFinish() kicks in and the whole thing works like a charm apart from submission. Is there a rule that forms cannot be submitted this way?

I have 2 Javascript's running, and as you can guess by my title, only one is loading because of the window.onload being triggered twice. The last one that is called in the <head> of the document is the one that runs. One of the JavaScript's is run in the page, the other is called from a external file. I cannot figure out how to combine the window.onload functions so they can both be run. Here's the first Javascript that contains a window.onload. This is responsible for rounding the corners on my page. This code is inserted directly in the page, with an external file that accompinies it. The external file does not contain the window.onload, so i havent attached it.

I'm trying to change the value of an input field (target) which depends on another input (source). It works well when I manually change the source value. But if I changed the source value with another button, the target value remains the same.
Here's the code...
$(document).ready(function() {
$('input#change').click(function() {
$('input#source').attr('value', 'This is the value changed by a
button');
[Code].....
So how could the target input detect if there's a change within the source input without manually changing it's value?

I am using Lightbox+ and overall it's very good for my needs. However it has a small problem. If you goto [URL] and click on the image "Sample 2" then use the next arrow to go to "Sample 3" you have to hover off the image and then back on to get the previous and zoom icons to show again. I have been able to make the bug occur every time in both Firefox 3.6 and IE6. I am guessing the mouseover event isn't triggering correctly due to the image object moving underneath the mouse pointer but I just can't fix it.

This unfortunately doesn't work. Can You see the error??
