I currently have a bid of code:
(simplified)
$(function() {
$(window).bind('scroll',function(event) {[code]...
But I only need it to execute if the user hasn't scrolled for three seconds. I don't really have a clue how to go about this.

when I call my "moveObject" function by an onMouseUp event handler like this:
<script>
document.onmouseup = function (e) {
moveObject(e,testTable);
};
</script>
everything works fine. But I would like to call that function not by clicking anywhere in the document, but by clicking on a table clell. I used this:
...<td onMouseUp="moveObject(e,testTable)">My text</td>...
This unfortunately doesn't work. Can You see the error??

I have done some searching on the discussions here and have found info on waiting for fadeins, etc. to finish and then calling another function. However, I am needing something a little different. I am needing for function 1 to process and then call over to function 2 once it's finished. Here is my code:

I'm trying to write a script that will run a function every x many seconds. I'd have thought that there would be a function for this already, but I didnt find anything. So I wrote the following..
do{
now = new Date
seconds = now.getSeconds()
if(seconds+"2" == now.getSeconds()){
function();
}}
while(1)
Which didn't work.. just hung the browser. BTW 2 is the interval in seconds.

I need to add some animation effects and I'm experimenting with JQuery animate. The sample routine is set up to run when you click on the Run link. I want to change the routine to run automatically when the page is loaded.

i want to copy gmail's auto save feature. i want to say 30 or so seconds after an onchange event, for it to call another function. i dont know how to do a timed event though and i was thinking that since the event happens over and over again as the user types, the 30 seconds would be restarted with every keystroke.

This is probably a very easy one for somebody. It's like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"; if you know the answer it's easy. But I don't.I disabled an event listener with: document.getElementById("thumb_link"+ tagName).onmouseover=function(){null};So what's the opposite? How do I re-start the original mouseover function please? Oh and yes I have Googled it for hours.

I have a problem I can't figure out on my own. I want to create a JS/AJAX function which counts down for exactly 10 seconds (for example), and then it performs an action - calls a .php file, and loads its content in a div element.
The main problem is - users can simply edit the JS and set the 10 second timer to 1 second, for example.
I wonder if there is a way to work this out in JS? I want the 10 seconds to be "set in stone".
I guess I could achieve similar effect by using database, and comparing the time when script started/ended.

I have this function delayLoad()
function delayLoad()
{
setTimeout('window.open('test.swf','FacNews', 'width=303,height=757,left=1005,top=0')',3000);
}
test.swf is a flash file within the same folder. I am invoking this function using
<body onload="delayLoad()">
What am I doing wrong for this not to delay the load by three seconds? I am having a system login that spawns a child window so I need to delay the window load of the swf so that it is on top. Its been years since I've done javascript, is there some other kind of methodology that I could possibly use?

I have found this nice background rotator:
Code:
<style>
body
{
/*Remove below line to make bgimage NOT fixed*/
background-color:black;
background-attachment:fixed;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
[Code]...
when i run it, i have to wait the 9000 timer to c the first image, and i need the page to start with an image and then start the rotation, i have assigned background-image by css, and tried also to use document.body.background, but when i do this the rotator doesnt work.

Have one row of a TR trigger the TR below it with a colspan of 13 to show the additional description.
I learned that jquery and colspan don't get along too well so based off other posts I knew to put a div inside the td.
The snipped code is:
So, as you can see I want to show and hide the div with the class="mapsearchinfo".
This is what I have so far and its not working (it hides just fine, and will do an alert on click so I know its something with showing where the div is):
As you can see I'm trying to show the div below what has been clicked (with a toggle in case it needs to be closed) and also close any other open ones.
For now the full scale testing is occurring at [url]

JQuery - Event triggered by div position Is it possible to use JQuery to trigger an event from the position of a div in relation to the browser window. I have this demo pageHEREthat contains three div's positioned below each other.
When I scroll down the page I want an alert to say "Div one in view", "Div two in view" etc. I know more than one div could be visible in the browser window but I wanted it to alert the one in the centre of the window. I was thinking it would be best to fire an event when the div is a set distance from the top of the browser window - I don't know where to start with it, or if using the distance from the top of the browser is the best way.

I have been trying to archieve the following with no luck.
- We have a Java Applet that handles fileuploads
- Once the applet finished uploading the files to server, onUploadFinish() is triggered
onUploadFinish() function contains the following
Code:
As highlighted in the above code, I am unable to submit the form automatically. I am certain that onUploadFinish() is triggered because all other statements in onUploadFinish() kicks in and the whole thing works like a charm apart from submission. Is there a rule that forms cannot be submitted this way?

I have 2 Javascript's running, and as you can guess by my title, only one is loading because of the window.onload being triggered twice. The last one that is called in the <head> of the document is the one that runs. One of the JavaScript's is run in the page, the other is called from a external file. I cannot figure out how to combine the window.onload functions so they can both be run. Here's the first Javascript that contains a window.onload. This is responsible for rounding the corners on my page. This code is inserted directly in the page, with an external file that accompinies it. The external file does not contain the window.onload, so i havent attached it.

We have a couple of textboxes in a form. All of which are validated onblur. The form is submitted onclick of an anchor tag.SubmitWindows platform browsers(Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE): When validateMyText() returns false, onclick is not triggered. This is the expected and existing behaviour.Mac platform browsers (Firefox, Safari): Even after validateMyText() returns false, onclick event is triggered, which submits the form.Background: This is a legacy application that was supported only on Windows platform and IE browser. Now it has to be enhanced to work on all the browsers(Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE) on Windows and Firefox, Safari on Mac.
