Making A Diamond With Number Of Stars That User Inputs?
Oct 26, 2011
I'm new here, and I'm a programming newb but am very interested in learning and possibly pursuing programming in the future. As such, I'm taking an intro to Javascript class at my university, and our homework is to make a function that when called upon makes a diamond out of *'s. It is supposed to do so by prompting a user for an int and then makes a diamond shaped object with the inputted number of stars in the middle of the diamond. an example of what this would look like (if a user entered in "5" to the prompt):
I want to make a search form where inputs only appear if a certain selection has been made. For example the user selects "Green" then the input "X" appears, and if the user clicks "Black" then input "Y" appears. How can this be done? If so, can someone give me a basic example in code that I can use to copy off?
I have this script that is supposed to check if a number the user guesses is the same as the randomly generated number.Problem is that the random number generated at the start of the program keeps on changing everytime I click on the "Check if I'm right" button, the random number gets generated again and I never ever get to reach the correct answer
HTML CODE <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head>
I have many inputs with name totalsum1,totalsum2,totalsum3 etc. I need to calculate number of inputs where name starts with "totalsum" and value is >0. I need to send result to another input with id="#rowtotal".My code:
$("#rowtotal").val(($("input[name^=totalsum]").val>0).size()); It's not working. Best RegardsRafa‚ Koszyk
I have been handed the task of updating and maintaining a web application, written in ASP and Javascript, that takes complex user inputs in HTML form and submits them to server-side ASP pages for processing. The problem is, the user inputs can become very complex, and the way this application was developed, the inputs are all concatenated into monstrously long strings of text that are then submited as <hidden> inputs in HTML forms and parsed by the server-side ASP. This results in hideous strings that go on and on like johnsmith~1232^01^Yes^no~~|43|april
etc. etc. This code is an incredible pain to maintain and update. There has got to be a better way to do this. I am required to use javascript and vbscript in ASP pages on the client side, and ASP pages for processing data on the server side. I can't switch to a different technology, or use .NET, or anything like that. I have to use JS and VBScript to get intricate and lengthy user inputs and submit them for processing. I would like to store these inputs in objects somehow and then get the data from those objects, if possible.
I am using cookies to track form data the user inputs. The data only needs to be available during their session. I have well over 80 fields. How can I combine some of the cookies to cut down on the amount. I am storing them with JS and retrieving them with php.
I have a HTML file where I want to use javascript to generate a random float number between 0. and 1. and if the number is > or = 0.7 I want the background color of the HTML file change from beige to green. Is this stuff easy to achieve in javascript? Im a total javascript
I have been practicing using canvas to make designs. My current code below will load the word the user inputs and makes it bounce around the canvas as well as a text spinner. However, whenever the user inputs a second word, the bounce below stops to start a new one and the text spinner messes up. so when the user inputs another word, that it either reloads a new textspinner or adds another one, as well as just add the word to the canvas without stopped the old one.
Basically, i have a past and present checkbox, start date and leave date. Now if the user clicks on the "present" checkbox i want the leave date checkbox to vanish and if clicked again i want to re-appear..Take a look at this page:-http:[url].....
now you can see at the moment i have the checkboxes past, present and 2 text boxes beneath. Can i do this?
I have a pic saved on my computer and I cant get my script to point to it.even if i put the whole path in. am i not understanding how to point to an image.
This is the classic flying starfield script that i am playing with. how to change image
Create a function that prompts user for a number. Develop the program so that it continues to prompt until it receives valid information. Then create a multiplication table that displays the number multiplied by 1 through prompted number.
I need to create a script that allows a user to enter a number, in either celsius or fahrenheit textbox....then they can click the button and the conversion is placed in the blank textbox
I use the following to verify that a user has entered a number between 0 and 99 in a form:
It seems to work fine in all browser / machine combos except Firefox on a Mac, when entering 0 returns false (I don't know if entering other numbers also returns false.)
I have been presented with: Draw a flowchart and write a javascript program which will accept two numbers from a user and will determine whether the second number is a factor of the first. This is determined by dividing the first number by the second and checking if the remainder is 0. This is made easier if you find out what the operator does. The output should be in the form 4 is not a factor of 6 and 3 is a factor of 6. I have tried a few attemps and yet still not sure what the problem is
my relative wanted this star trail effect on the site: URL...I did similar effect below but I couldn't make smaller stars on trail, how can I achieve this?
I am trying to put up a page for my students for them to be able to enter their class number into a field and instantly get a personalized text message. (ie student number 5 enters "5" and gets a message like "Congratulations on your homerun in Kickball Bobby!"
I need to get a piece of code that will allow me to have a user input a number, say 1-200 and that variable would make up the last part of an IP Address that the user wants to browse to.
I have a character countdown that tell you how many characters you have type in the text area. But I am having a problem, I can't see to show a text or the number the character the user when I load the page. I want it to show Characters Type: 0 when you load the page, and not having to press a key to show it, here is the code I am using...
I have a form that collects information about up to 5 items. I would like the user to be able to select from a drop down menu how many items for which they want to compare information, and then have the form change the number of input fields accordingly.
In other words, if the user selects enter info for 3 items, then input fields for only 3 items are shown, if they change it to 4 items, then a fourth column shows up in the table with the appropriate input fields.
I'm having to write a program that generates a random number between 1-1000 and then allows the user to make guesses in a text box, answering to high or to low, until the correct answer is entered. I had the program working fine with using strictly prompts and alerts but when I tried to create a form I started having trouble.
