Load The Word The User Inputs And Makes It Bounce Around The Canvas As Well As A Text Spinner
Jan 25, 2011
I have been practicing using canvas to make designs. My current code below will load the word the user inputs and makes it bounce around the canvas as well as a text spinner. However, whenever the user inputs a second word, the bounce below stops to start a new one and the text spinner messes up. so when the user inputs another word, that it either reloads a new textspinner or adds another one, as well as just add the word to the canvas without stopped the old one.

The application works fine but it makes the user enter the answer twice before it brings up the question "Would you like to continue?". I thought the fix would be to just call "myMH.checkAnswer(studentAnswer);" straight from the method in the "appclass" but that didn't fix it I m so lost on this problem. This problem most likely is right in front of my face but don't see it lol. I have another question as well but I think if I get this one figured out first it might answer my other one.

I like to try to do some jquery and spinner then load some html code into a div content. I'm not looking deep into the coding part of jquery yet but here's my question. What will be the a href tag look like?
<a href="http://yourlink" onclick="loadpage();">Products</a>
Do you put the url on href or attr? Can I still put the url on href? The reason I ask it's because seo friendly? Will search engine look into other pages by href? But I guess this way will actually load the whole page in the browser and there's no way I can do ajax stuff in this format? I like to do something nice on my links but don't want to hurt the seo part.

I have 2 questions about my spinner. first question is that if a number is removed in the spinner by backspace and that there is no number in a spinner, when I click away from the spinner, it shows an empty spinner. What I really want is that if the spinner is empty and I click away, I want the spinner to display 0 instead. How can this be done?
second question is that if I enter in 00045 or 0000009 in a spinner and I click away, I want it to display 45 and 9 and not 00045 and 0000009. How can this be done as well?

I am trying to show and hide a div which contains a animated "spinner.gif" file. Is there any way to toggle a div from block to none without using an onEventHandler?My toggle script is as follows:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function toggle(x) {
if (document.getElementById(x).style.display == 'none') {[code]........
What I would like to ultimately have happen is be able to put this toggle code into an External JS file which will validate a form I am filling out. The process with go something like...
1. Submit Form
2. Validate form
2a. Load hidden div containing spinner animated gif
2b. Pause validation script for 3 seconds so the animated gif gets a change to display to the user that a process is working
Code:
function Pause() {
timer = setTimeout("endpause()",3000); // 3 secs
return false;
}
2c. Pause ends and the external javascript file continues processing
3. Hand off form values to php and from my php file use the toggle function to finally hide the spinner div after the results have loaded on the page.Is it possible to toggle on and off a div without the event handlers?

button 1 makes (onClick) text 1 appear just beneath the button
button 2 makes (onClick) text 2 appear just beneath the button
in each of the texts at the end there's a third button to make the text
dissappear again
IS THIS POSSIBLE? HOW?

I have been handed the task of updating and maintaining a web
application, written in ASP and Javascript, that takes complex
user inputs in HTML form and submits them to server-side ASP
pages for processing. The problem is, the user inputs can
become very complex, and the way this application was developed,
the inputs are all concatenated into monstrously long strings
of text that are then submited as <hidden> inputs in HTML forms
and parsed by the server-side ASP. This results in hideous strings
that go on and on like
johnsmith~1232^01^Yes^no~~|43|april
etc. etc. This code is an incredible pain to maintain and update.
There has got to be a better way to do this. I am required to
use javascript and vbscript in ASP pages on the client side,
and ASP pages for processing data on the server side. I can't
switch to a different technology, or use .NET, or anything like
that. I have to use JS and VBScript to get intricate and lengthy
user inputs and submit them for processing. I would like to
store these inputs in objects somehow and then get the data
from those objects, if possible.

I'm new here, and I'm a programming newb but am very interested in learning and possibly pursuing programming in the future. As such, I'm taking an intro to Javascript class at my university, and our homework is to make a function that when called upon makes a diamond out of *'s. It is supposed to do so by prompting a user for an int and then makes a diamond shaped object with the inputted number of stars in the middle of the diamond. an example of what this would look like (if a user entered in "5" to the prompt):

I am wanting the user to move their mouse over a word and a description should appear. Like this: [URL], move your mouse over copyright symbol, which is down in the right hand corner of the photo. Could someone please tell how to do this? I know this would need JavaScript, but not sure what to search for in a search engine.

The Farbtastic color picker is an elegant solution to the color-picking problem, but its usefulness is prohibitive in those situations where there is not enough screen real-estate. Because it is large, these are many. Since I want to use it in such a situation, I started working towards a solution.
The designed solution involved in clicking on something small, such as Click to Activate, and having the rest of the page become faded-out, while the color-picker appears superimposed over other parts of the page.
That solution is implemented up to a point. In the code posted:
- The trigger appears as part of the original DOM.,
- Clicking the trigger makes the page text fade, the color-picker appear, and the trigger changes to something like Click to Deactivate,
- Upon clicking, it does disappear, and the page text resumes it original appearance..
After this point, one might work towards making it more modular and more easily usable as is farbtastic itself.
It requires a var to hold state, and other things. Ideally, it could be combined with the original to offer a wider range of usage patterns. I have no doubt that the code can vastly be improved, since I am relatively new to jquery, although not to computing.
The code is posted below, in the hope that it proves useful to others, The only change made to the farbtastic.js code itself is to add "id='fbc' " to the outermost <div which is added internally. This change is not shown because it would involve posting all of farbtastic.js for this one change. The section of text used to illustrate presumed page content is from the NSIS Users Manual, and has no significance beyond being some text. The div named 'overlay' was employed to allow shifting the whole thing around as a unit relative to the trigger but might be eliminated were that not needed, since everything else works without it, Note also that the input#color from the original farbtastic has been replaced by 'repeater' which is a <div, but seems to work ok to get the color info.

I have an intranet web page with links to all kinds of Microsoft Word
document that we use at my work, so my co-works can go to the web page when
they need a special document. However, when they click the links the
documents are of cause loaded in the web browser MS Explorer and not opened
in MS Word, which is annoying.
Are there any tricks - in VBScrip, JavaScript, Java or simply in HTML, that
let me load a Word-link in Word and not in Explorer?

I have a menu in which is applied typeface script. Typeface 0.11 version doesn't support hover on links. There is an experimental version but doesn't work very well for me, so i tried to implement hover by myself.
Problem is: hover works pretty well changing canvas context property fillColor and then calling fill(), but the stroke on hovered voice remains on another color. Difficult to explain, so i put some test code online: TEST CODE As you can see, passing with mouse on the menu voices triggers the hover and the element change, but remains bordered in red.

Using jQuery Validate to do it's job of validating a form. Problem is I need to get at least one phone number recorded in the form - either a Telephone or Mobile (Cell).Is there any inbuilt way of setting up the rules to do this?I have seen the Milk demo for the validate plugin where there's something similar, but the 'name' attribute is the same, something that's not going to be the same for two different text inputs.

I have a web form. I use a simple function to generate a letter ouput based on the form fields and populate them into a word doc for printing. Below is a basic example, but you get the idea.
function createDocument() {
strDoc = "
"
strDoc += "Hello there!
[Code]....
Note this is only intended to be used on IE8. As it stands, the ouput generates and formats exactly as I want bar two things:
1) Does anyone know how I can get some of the text to bold? I've tried everything I can think of (html tags, escape characters etc etc). Is there a way to open a word window in rtf perhaps?
2) Does anyone know how I can insert a small image (a signature in gif or jpg) into the document?
I can use a browser window instead of word, which formats, bolds, images etc, however I then get the issue of headers/footers when printing. I cannot disable headers everytime I want to print a letter, it's not practical.

I'm trying to create a list of prices where the cost is tabbed across so they all line up...
I'm sure there is an easy way of doing that's better than I have so far.
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE='Javascript'>
document.write("<XMP>")
document.write("May £853
")
document.write("June £906
")
document.write("July £1,012
")
document.write("August £1,012
")
document.write("September £906
")
document.write("October £853
")
document.write("</XMP>")
</SCRIPT>
I've tried looking through the forums but it keeps landing me on threads about tabbing between text fields.
